  1. Doing much better, thanks. Hemoglobin was down to 6.6 and with three units of O-, I am ready for a 5K! I will do what you said about posting in the technical/modification section. This project sure has turned into a learning experience for me. Really, it's been fun so far.
  2. Not sure if this is the place but, In all my life I have only been aware of the usual Klipsch speakers such as the Heresy, Khorn , Belle Klipsch, Forte etc. Since becoming a member I have found an entirely 'new' speaker collection out there. Never heard of a "Jube", a KI-396 or any of the other speakers mentioned on the various Klipsch Forums. I am constantly doing Google searches to find out what the rest of you are talking about. Just want all of you to know that "I am getting schooled" by all of you. Wow!!! Klipsch is much more than my Rf-7's or my RP-160M's out in the garage. Simply amazing and I sincerely thank all of you. Time for another Stella!!
  3. You can see the outside temperature and I drew a picture of four guys in a boat out fishing. Really, it is!!
  4. At the moment, no. But if I could get 'permission', I would have one of those mini split systems installed out there and then start the process of turning it into a 2 channel room for all the different systems that I have acquired lately. I would have to share the room with with our water heater.😃 Living here would require AC. It was 87 degrees yesterday and right now it is 12:31est with a temperature of 88. Might have to take a dip in the pool along with my floating cooler. It sounds like a Stella Day to me. I'm out of here.
  5. Prior to sealing, staining and polyurethaning these speakers, I removed the 'ID's" from the back of each cabinet. Think I should put them back on? Even though I put a pre stain sealer on the MDF front's, when I applied the stain, the "was wood" sucked up the stain extremely fast. The cabinets turned out well but, I keep the grills on to hide the fronts.🙂
  6. I think so too. But, my lovely bride of almost forty years thinks her car should be parked in there. Really???? Do people actually put cars in their garage anymore. My Pro4X sits outside so that I have a place to work on projects.
  7. They would be my Rf-7's. But, I would give them up immediately for a pair of P-39's. I will have a pair next year, along with a P-312. I do not have room for the Jubilee's since moving to my current home in Florida. It has 1782 sq. ft. but, not a room in it that is conducive to great 2 channel listening or HT. I might have to commandeer my garage and turn it into 'my' room just for listening. None of the HT stuff, just the P-39's, maybe two P312's and my "absolutely made for me, perfectly built, favorite of all time" listening chair. I know I'm not alone in thinking that a "favorite listening chair" is essential to having great music in your room. I think this would be heaven for me.
  8. I absolutely agree!!! LOL!
  9. Thank you very much for mentioning that. I made new speaker grills using thin birch plywood which I painted black and then added new 'speaker grade' covering.
  10. I am having a hard time answering that question. Believe it or not, I think that the original woofers sound better, even with that little hole in one of the rubber surrounds. I only say this because when I was putting everything back together, I had no idea where or how those three pieces of egg crate foam were installed. When I bought the speakers, both cabinets had all the foam laying in the bottom and blocking the bass ports. If you can help me out regarding the correct placement, I would appreciate it very much. By the way, I don't care for the 'black bulls eyes" either.
  11. Generally speaking, which Klipsch model speaker is considered to be the best one that Klipsch ever produced since '46? This came up while listening to music with a friend of mine and I did not have the answer..........just a guess.
  12. Sorry about taking so long to answer you. I was in the hospital getting three units of blood and a gulp of iron. The photo of the washer is the first hole that I attempted to enlarge and ended up making it too big. I then shifted to using a Dremel tool with a 1/8" carbide grinding bit to enlarge only one side of the hole. It worked perfectly. I would recommend that you do the same and not use a drill bit. If you have any other questions, just ask.
  13. I have 7 GoldenEar Aon 3's, 4 DefTech Pro Monitor 1000's 2 HSU VTF-15H MkII's and 2 GoldenEar Super Subs.
  14. Thanks for the info. I will get back to you on something that you said to me previously, but, right now Lowes is calling me about a sale on 20V tools!
  15. 6db!!?? That is a huge increase. It looks like I will be having fun over the next day or so working on this room. The one corner which is in this room doesn't even have a full wall anywhere. Two sides are completely open, the front wall is only 8' wide and the left wall is maybe 9-10' long but has a 3'x 4' set set of four folding louvered doors about centered half way up the wall. It has been very problematic trying to set up this system. Our previous home in PA had huge basement and made running cables and wires easy. Now, I'm sitting on a slab because of the water table being so close to the surface. Just waiting to get swallowed up so night.
  16. Hi jason str! I did what you said, after finding a neighbor to help my wife lift one HSU and put it on top the other in the only corner in our family room. For the GoldenEar subs, I placed one along the side wall half way between the front wall and the rear of the room, put my workshop stool over it and placed the second one on the seat, I did that because the GoldenEars have both top and bottom bass radiators. If you think it's okay, I will place one on top the other. Any how, this stacking of subs increased the output dramatically in the room. However, when moving the two GE subs around the room, the bass was at it's best when I had them sitting right in front of our two seat reclining sofa. Actually, it was very acceptable to me. But the other half said something like "You aren't seriously considering leaving them right there ..................are you?" So I put them back against the wall like a good boy. I set all the speakers as small and the low pass filter at 80hz, and the phase control to the '0' setting. I angled the two HSU's towards the center of the room. I put in the Godzilla, Avengers and Spiderman 4K Blurays and after adjusting the volume on the subs and changing the LPF setting to around 65hz the bass was much, much better. I did find that I needed to move a couple of knicknacks because they were vibrating so badly. So, I would like to thank all of you who replied to my original post. Your replies have made me do some searching of the internet to better understand how to properly set up the pre/pro and subs. By chance, while reading the HSU owners manual the original 'HSU Bass Test CD" was inserted between pages and fell out. So, I played it and I have to say "The Saint-Saens Organ Symphony is an amazing low frequency test of your subs. Very cool.
  17. It only makes sense to be prepared and it's so easy to do. Buy the food a little at a time, save those empty gallon jugs for water to flush toilets. Don't fill the jugs until you know within a few days that a severe storm is coming. Put them aside and refill your flushed toilet tank only after you have gotten to the point where you can't stand the odor etc, etc. Most canned and dried foods last for several years and you can use them up as the expiration date is close. Just don't forget to replace what ever you use. My wife has everything listed and tapes all the pertinent information on each tote. Don't forget batteries, flashlights, small am/fm radio, small cardboard box with all those extra little things like 66 cases of Stella to drink up while listening to the fm radio.
  18. Since I live in Florida, we have an area in our pantry that is is full of totes with lots of MRE's, gallons and gallons of water and canned goods. We only touch it after the hurricane season is over and then restock as necessary.
  19. Our pantry is well stocked with dry goods and as I type this, my wife is making the rounds at Costco and Sam's. If the President says to stay indoors for the next few months, we will be good to go. Am sure that my 8' stack of ramen noodles will go a long way!! She is buying lots of canned goods like tuna, chicken, beef, pork, soups etc. I asked her not to forget my all time favorite food..............EXTRA CRUNCHY JIFF peanut butter and boxes of Saltines. It has to be Jiff. I know, OCD. Hopefully this virus will not get to the point where we have to seal ourselves indoors.I understand we are not to discuss politics on this forum but, we all know how this outbreak started...................and it wasn't from some freakin' ant eater in an open market.
  20. How big? Basically, this is pretty much "my" room and can do as I want regarding the HT system.................as long as she approves it. Really, making what ever changes I feel are necessary is actually up to me. Notice, I said that very quietly.
  21. May I ask another question? Thanks. Should the crossover settings be done on the pre/pro or use the one's on the sub? I think I recall reading somewhere that if I use the crossover settings on the pre/pro, I should turn the settings on the subs to max. Does that sound right?
  22. The reason I am using the DefTech 1000's as my Atmos/height speakers is because my ceilings start out at 9' on both sides and meet in the middle at 14'. So far, the only other option for the Atmos speakers would be four pendant speakers.......maybe. Right now I don't even know if the attic/crawl space has enough room to afford access abovr the ceilings. I have not been up there since we moved in...........I need an 8' ladder and only have a step stool.
  23. I have the Yamaha MX-A5200, CX-A5200, CD-S3000 and Sony UHD 4K Bluray. If the truth was told here, I am a little confused by all the crossover settings on the pre/pro and on the subs. The 7 speakers are GoldenEar Aon 3's and the 4 height speakers are DefTech Pro Monitor 1000's. I am using balanced XLR cabling for all the components except the GE Super Sub's which have unbalanced inputs on them. Would that make a difference? I checked the pre/pro menu and somehow everything is now set to "default". I have no idea how that occurred' Looks like it is time to get that Yamaha instruction manual out and start from scratch, which will take some time. Not sure how to do it but I will see if I can do that. I know that there are some people who can do this in their sleep. I for one have found this pre/pro to be very challenging. When the dealer came here and put everything together, they brought along a mini dsp, laptop with various programs and microphones. They came along as part of the purchase price. My wife almost went through the roof when I showed her the total cost. Whoa, Nellie!!!! That was a fun experience😠. Not.
