  1. This is my Rivo Volumio digital streamer. It's in excellent shape and sounds excellent. I run it by my Windows PC via the web interface, rivo.local, once it's set up on your network. The only reason I'm selling is to purchase a more expensive streamer.

The $375 includes USPS Priority Mail anywhere in the continental US.

These streamers are $1,079 brand new, so grab this while you can. PayPal is fine.

If you're in the area, feel free to come by for a listen/purchase.

Making the cabinet smaller would change the bass horn size/geometry and change its performance, likely for the worse.  Also, the woofer size was reduced to add ports to the motorboard to make it a horn-loaded vented system design.  So, the motorboard size cannot be reduced anyway.

Ports to the motorboard and a real 2 inch mid driver is a dream come true for La Scala hot rodders.

But they tested the original diaphragms and they wholeheartedly recommended that I continue to use the old diaphragms. The new ones I had supplied were of much poorer quality. They had tested and listened to one and removed it again.

Same with my old drivers. In fact, I sold my vintage La Scala tweeters and mid drivers to a local high end audio shop, and they used the drivers in a custom speaker build that sold for $5,000. Capitalism makes the world go 'round.

@richieb  Think of it this way. A boutique shop like Ojas can write its own paper. Look to see more entries at the HIFI Extravaganzas this year. A booth, a clear understanding of KLIPSCH and a fresh approach on what is next.

If Jensen and Yokohama have been doing this since, forever. KLIPSCH staying relevant in the same conversations and being introduced to new ones. So much of a bad thing?

Definitely a good thing. Strategic cross pollination is always a good idea in business.

Man, I wish you were closer.  I'd buy those Eliptrac's from you.  I wish it wasn't such a pain for shipping....but I get it.

Yeah.... shipping is crazy. I took one horn to my nearby UPS and FedEx stores to get a quote. I couldn't figure it out on their website. Shipping to Texas and California was $170 and $210, which included about $30 for boxing one horn. That just about doubles the cost. At that price you may as well get your own kit and pay a carpenter to build them.

I'll hold on for local buyers, or maybe eventually use them for a custom build.

  6. I put these LMAHL V2 tweeters on top of my vintage La Scalas, and they completely outclassed my mid and bass horns. I surrender. I cannot build a better La Scala; I need to just buy the AL5/6.

For the Eliptrac 400 horns, I decided not to reconstruct my vintage La Scalas to accomodate them. I also have the plastic 1.5 inch adapters if you'd like them. Again, the only solution is the AL5/6.

All four pieces are $300, or you can take one pair for $150, two tweeters or two horns.

Shipping costs are very extreme, so only local sales for these.

Hello - I pop in every once in a while looking for ways to improve the sound of my system. My current system is comprised of Khorns with ALK extreme slope x-overs, Volti Mid Range horns with 4592-mid drivers, DE-10 tweeter drivers with CNC tweeter lenses. My Amp is a MA352 McIntosh fed by an RME ADI FS 2 DAC. Music is streamed via a mini PC 16 gig memory AMD Ryzen 7 3750H  with an external power supply. Basically a notebook processor with no keyboard or screen. Controlled by Remote desktop.

I had an in home Demo of a Western Electric 91 E 300B Tube amp. While it did sound slightly better I don't think it sounded $15,000 better, it was subtle maybe a bit warmer. Also demo'd was a Linn music streamer priced at $13,000. I could hear no difference between the streamer and the dac/pc that I currently have.

Tomorrow I am going to a shop to listen to a Furman power conditioner that sells for $2500. Since my house has a basement I can easily pull a 20 amp dedicated circuit for my system and swap out my speaker cables for a newer set. The cables I have are 25 years old and probably need a refresh. Will the 20 amp dedicated circuit make a difference versus the 15amp shared circuit?

    Any thoughts?

    Rick

Based on my experience, the cables will definitely make a difference. For the 20amp vs 15amp upgrade, your system definitely wants the 20, so that should be an improvement as well.

I'm using the Volti crossovers. They give my vintage La Scalas a more natural, open sound. I also twisted four strands of 14awg solid copper wire, and used them for my crossover to driver connections. Kember Kable has a similar design. That definitely upped the current, giving me more presence, detail and volume, and a much quieter background.

Changing out my Cat8 cables for solid core Cat8 cables also yielded a night and day difference. I've seen the audiophile Cat8 cables, but the usual fat yellow cables work fine so far. I may try the audiophile versions later.
