While looking at sales on a labels site, I came across this band, Talas. They´re active since the early 80´s, never heard of them before. Got out a new album last year, that caught my eye/ ear. Vinyl is hard to get at reasonable prices... This link is their second album from1982.

Just snapped this up on the news. The circumstances are not official yet...
She sure was a very unusual person, but with an outstanding singing voice.
R.I.P. Sinéad...

Got to "M" in entering stuff into my collection on Discogs. Haven´t played this one in a while. I really must say, it sounds better than I remember it from the last time.

Little update on my KGs:
I did a little search. Apparently MidWestSpeaker has/had a replacement woofer produced for the K-1005-K. Naturaly it´s out of stock, site says re-stock late June - really?
Price would be 99$ each on site. On their EBay page these go for 125$! (Sold out.)
Also waiting for the Chief. 🤘

Hey George are you feeling better?
I am going to change amps and am negotiating on a Cyrus 8XP integrated with PSX-R
And will move on the Sansui gear along with a few components not being utilised
Ofcourse the new gear sounds nice... But I always slobbered over that Sansui! I guess it would be a waste of space and funds to put it into storage, no?

And then he might have more pressing things on his agenda than answering questions about speakers 30 years old.

He might just leave it all there when he walks outta the office like most people. I would. He's more than paid his debt to society. Time to chill.
Oh no, I wasn´t expecting him to answer right away! It´s the weekend, he will drop everything and go home just like the rest of us alright.

Na, I´m not to worried about it, just want to know if K-1001/1005-k can be interchanged, or not. Though I wonder, what does the Chief spin...? The Black or the Silver? I say He´s old fashioned, black with tubes and Jubs.
Pricey? You think He´s got an NOS k-1005-k up his sleeve?

I´m hi-jacking this thread... @Chad Maybe we could move everything KG 4.5 related here to a new thread called "Reviving KG4.5" for example, over in the restaurations-forums please?

you may remember that you installed the Dynavoxx under your RF´3´s , so why don´t you consider the same with the KG 4.5´s ?
Way ahead of you George, that will be the first "tuning" I´ll do. I´m also pretty sure the woofer "doesn´t fit in". I only notice the difference when I go close to the cabinet. I´m planing to get a replacement, if I can find one. I found a K-1001-K on Ebay. That was supposedly pulled from a KG4.5, but per specs it was originaly installed in the 4.2. I contacted Chief Bonehead (Roy Delgado) if the two are interchangeable. Maybe He will find the time to answer.
Also I plan to get titanium diaphragms for the tweeters.

Here's somethin for you Linn lovers, you know who you are.
If it were an Apple product, what would they call it? "ISpin" or "ITurn", or wait: "MacTable" – no, wait that was the other thing...

Were you made aware of the issues?
If so I hope you got them for a good price
No, I didn´t know. Nor am I sure the seller knew. He got them from his brother, he said. Seeing them, I get the impression these were someones "Party Speakers". As I said, I notice only, when I´m close to the cabinet. The replacement sounds brighter. When You sit farer away, you don´t notice, I think...
Right now, it bothers me astheticly most... Looked at Crites, but looks like they don´t sell woofers right now. Will look at ebay from time to time, maybe a spare pops up.
Price was fine, paid 390€. This will sound much to You, but here in Germany, vintage Klisch are rare and expensive... There was a pair of KG 3.5 on for the same price though.

Oh, and then, one has all original feet, the other a mixture of one half of a original and three spikes.

But, as with everything, there is a pinch of salt here... But first:
- Ofcourse the cabinets are rough and need love. That was expected.
- One of the grilles has cloth- damage on one corner:
I´ll think what to do about that at the end, it´s not that noticable anyway.
The following is the biggest "problem". The woofers survived transport intact, BUT:
Original K1005 K woofer.
Up to now, unknown replacement woofer...
If you put your ear close the woofers, there is a noricable difference in dynamics between the two. It doesn´t impair listening, but knowing it, I want back the original state.
But first things first. They will be added to my "Phallanx" and listened to extensively!

I spy with my little eye
Nice touch on the cable cutout at the back
Right cut-outs, a bit rough, but they are there. Maybe I´ll install spots over the TTs. The plan is: Shelving will continue on top of what Yu see now. There will be one more space for LPs. Further up will be for books and my DVDs & BluRays.
What you see here is about 2/3 of my LP collection, so there´ll be space left, not that much, but there´ll be some.
