  1. Ha! interesting enough, this pop up today: https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/ele/d/elkton-marantz-2245/7236745368.html The reply i got after inquiring was: “My 2245 has had periodic Caig de oxit D5 detailing, a tuner alignment, not much else, comes from a smoke free, pet free environment. Spent most of it's life in the den running a pair of Klipsch Heresy . Pots and switches are clear I can drive it thru my Klipsch belles (103db) and it has a marvelous old skool tone, has the headroom of a much larger amp . Really excels with horn loaded designs. These black face models were sold thru the PX service and alot were purchased by military personnel and brought back to the US in the mid '70s . It is 110v 60hz. My buddy Charlie was stationed at Rhein-Main AB in Frankfurt in the '70s You could get really killer deals thru the PX, I know Pioneer sold a ton of stuff thru this service. He brought back a Tandberg 3300x Reel/Reel and 4 Pioneer CS 99a speakers which I now own too, and this 2245 Marantz Can run 4 speakers , main and remote, simultaneously The 22xx series accepts the WC-22 wood cabinet , but I personally think it looks better with out it. Have a pdf copy of the owner's manual. David” **Be careful! Best, ~ja PS. i already reported as a scam, but if you guys can do the same , it might be helpful.
  2. Hehe, yes it is... great game !
  3. Hehe, yes they do... that’s my another hobby https://m.twitch.tv/oneipodonepinball/profile
  4. Yes, the cabinets are now stained. i just finished applying the 1st. coat of polyurethane.
  5. As for speakers’ bases i repainted the black trim and sanded the veneer, now about to stain them...
  6. Here are the raisers after being stained:
  7. So today, before i start refinishing the cabinets, i decided to build a couple of angled raisers... i think they came out pretty good. I’m about to stain them using the same stain i got for the cabinets (Varathane’s Black Cherry) Let’s see how these will turn out.
  8. Great info, thanks! Yes, based on seeing different photos and finishes from this set, yes, they are "oak oil" no lacquer clear coat on them, they feel coarse to the touch, I'm also planning to add some polyurethane finish, mostly for UV protection, these are next to a window that get several hours of sun light during the day... and while refinishing the cabinet, I might add sone extra bracing, I just need to figure out how much (and what type) of bracing should I use.
  9. Thanks for the welcome, billybob Yes, I'm starting to gather some ideas, but I'm more interested on the process itself.
  10. Hello to all, I just became a happy owner of a pair of KG4s, love them... the finish (oak oil) not that much. It's my understanding that this model also came out also on "walnut oil" which is a finish I love. Would it be possible to restain the cabinets using some type of cherry-look stain? If so, can someone be kind enough to tell me the right way to do it. Thank you very much for any guidance! ~ja
