  1. Should be a nice set-up. It's good you are going with the KSW-12. You can always upgrade in the future. Way to go... keep the wife happy!! You might be suprised at how much you can get by with when you upgrade a speaker here... a receiver there... etc. Good luck! ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  2. I was pretty dissappointed with "The Perfect Storm". I thought the dialogue was recorded too low and the action scenes all had the same sound to them, although how do you mix-up the sound, when its all rushing water. Anyway, I thought that overall, it lacked depth. Maybe I was expecting more. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  3. Don't worry too much about the maximum wattage range. The larger concern is CLEAN power. I used to sell Klipsch in a local A/V store several years ago. We would hook up all kinds of configurations after hours. We had a big McIntosh MC-600(if memory serves), anyway it could put out a whopping 600 watts per channel! We would hook up anything from Klipsch to Boston to Mirage. Most every time these speakers could handle anything the amp could throw at them. The woofers would usually bottom out first, but they would not blow. The Mac had blue meters that would register actual wattage being put through the speakers. Believe me, under any normal use the most you will probably be using will be less than 5 watts and most of normal listening is around 1 watt or less. My point is, don't worry too much about the rating as you are about the quality of power you are putting into the speakers. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  4. For a sub you could go with a KLF-10, 12, or 15. It just depends on your budget and thirst for bass. I use KLF-10's, but I am not parched enough for 12's or 15's... yet. Any of these will supplement the KG-4's with noticeably more bass. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1

  6. The RF-3's would be alot different, better frequency range, but not as much in the way of dispersion. One possibility that might be the best of both worlds, would be RS-3's with a subwoofer like a KSW-10 or KSW-12. Will it be more for music, or HT ? ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  7. Puddy, I have the same set-up and have no regrets. I can't speak to your choice of sub, because I don't know anything about it. You could try an RB-5 for the center rear, but I don't know if you can buy it seperately. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  8. I totally agree -- great action flick. Hopefully they will re-release this in dts someday. I would like to hear the difference. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1

  10. The RB-5 should work well for a center channel. It has the same tweeter and a very similar woofer as the RF-3's. The only thing I would worry about would be the shielding of the RB-3's. Are they shielded? By the way, if you ever decide to sell those RB's, keep me in mind.Textf> ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  11. I am building a small HT for my bedroom. Part of the system may consist of two Klipsch Rebel satellites circa mid 90's. Can anyone enlighten me? Are the Quintets a better sounding small speaker than the Rebel was? I will also be using a KSW-10 sub. Thanks. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  12. I can't really explain, except to say that I don't think that audio mags and the like have ever given Klipsch the proper respect. Also, part of the problem is that there are so many mfg. of speakers anymore, it is hard to include all of them. One recent exception is from a Sound & Vision review of the Reference series. They gave it "GLOWING" reviews. Kind of nice to read as a long time Klipsch owner. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  13. I do know that they sell the Promedia system for computers, but I am not sure about speaker systems.
  14. I think that the CF-7 is a good match, from the little bit I have heard. Technically speaking however, the H II would be the best match. Are you using a projection or a tube T.V.?
  15. I had some bad luck with Adcom. You might try a Denon AVR-5800. I hear that the amps in this receiver are comparable to some of the better seperate amps on the market today. I found that going with a Denon receiver was a "happy medium" between seperates and an integrated receiver... but that is just my opinion. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  16. RWMIN-- Why were you banned? -- do tell!
  17. I agree with the group. I too prefer DTS due to the fact that it has a more spacious and accurate sound overall (My opinion, of course). Some DD mixes sound great, and others are a little harsh. Two really great DTS releases that I have are "Gladiator" and "The Road to El Dorado". ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  18. You will find the RF-3's to be very different from the LaScalas. They will have a much more "laid back" sound for the lack of a better word. If I could fit LaScalas in my HT room, I would have a pair. In a nutshell - both are great speakers in their own way. Very different though. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  19. As far as I know, NAD makes a fine amp. Are you able to go to a local dealer and listen to one? -- Or better yet, take it home for a test trial. I know a fair amount about McIntosh amps, but they are rather pricey! Sidenote: (McIntosh amps and Klipsch Heritage series are an AWSOME combo!) I had a bad experience with Adcom, but I hear many people are satisfied with their Adcom. I finally gave up on the whole seperate amp thing a year ago. I am pleased with my Denon. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1

  21. I know what you mean. I like the "open mouth" thing. I also like the "what the heck was that flying around my head", or the "I think we are experiencing an earthquake" thing. I love this way of life. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  22. HTADDICT - Part of the problem you may be getting with lack of bass is in the receiver. I know Sony makes some very fine products, of which, I have a few, but amplifier designers they are not! A higher current amp may be your solution. I prefer the Denon, but there are many others like: HK, Yamaha, and NAD to name a few. I have not seen your other postings, but if you try a higher current amp, you might just be suprised how much bass those RF-3's will produce. ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.1
  23. I think NYPD Blue, as well as all other shows should be in 5.1... Oh, I'm sorry I think I was dreaming.
