  1. I'm also a newbie here but I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the center speaker carries a bulk of the burden in a surround setup. Considering the price of those in ceiling speakers you could easily take another route and for the same price get a pretty sweet surround setup. I just grabbed an rp-500c(center) and 2 rp500m's(left and right) for like 700 ish. Considering that's just 2 of those in ceiling speakers price wise I would say you could do a full reference premier setup and be sitting pretty for the same price. I'm using a denon x2600h which is on the less expensive side compared to what I know alot of the other guys here use but it satisfies the power needs for the reference premier line from klipsch and has 2 atmos and 2 sub channels. I'm very satisfied with it. I wanna say it was around $600. Good luck.
  2. I have ran audyssey. Volume is anywhere from -15 to 0 depending on the song ....I did figure out that when on multichannel they are getting 95w but when on pure direct they are getting 125w so it makes sense now. I found an article that broke it down better than what the klipsch spec sheet does. On multichannel I can pretty much keep them at 0db no matter the song and I don't even feel like they are pushing hard. They are rated for 75w so kudos on klipsch for making some damn good speakers.
  3. So I just had a wtf moment with my rp500m speakers. I was checking out sound modes in heos and when I hit pure direct I could clearly see the speakers were being pushed way harder (more like what they I'm guessing are capable of) the woofers were actually pushing air out of the port and such plus they were much louder. That led me to look at my denon x2600h power ratings but I was hard pressed to find anything other than a 2ch 95w rating. Now I wanna know when I'm utilizing all channels what each channel is putting out. How can I find this out. I thought I was sitting pretty with this receiver but now I'm not so sure. One more thing should I break them in this way since they are being pushed more and also should I plu my rp500c into a side channel and break it in similarly.
  4. Wow that is really good info I had no idea crossover slopes worked that way tyty...also I've never even thought of using pink noise to listen for the roll off ...you gies are so helpful thanks
  5. I have an x2600h reciever rp500c,rp500m,BIC acoustech pl-200,and for 2 surrounds and 2 front heights I'm using the quintet 5.0 surrounds. So 5.1.2. Now to the point. I did my audyssey setup today and I noticed that it set my crossovers to some odd settings that were in most cases lower than that the speakers are rated for. I put them to match what their minimum frequency response ratings suggest manually but I'm wondering if that is something I'm not supposed to do. I set the 500m to 40 500c to 60 the quintets to 110 and the BIC to 80(seems to blend well there). Anyone able to give me some guidance here. Thanks in advance.
  6. Good info ty....also I'm not sure I've ever heard distortion from any of my klipsch speakers and I put them pretty loud these things are nuts..... Well at least my old ones I haven't put these new ones to max volume yet.....Oh that reminds me do I have to break the speakers in at a specific volume ratio like 70% or something or is it okay to hit max volume while I'm breaking them in for some reason all of the break in guides don't say that
  7. Ok speakers are connected and I've been breaking them in at -25db.....I've been doing some reading and I'm wondering if im supposed to be able to safely put the volume at 0db....I've been limiting my volume to -10db up until now but that was with my quintet 5.0 speakers. Mind you I don't think I'll need to put them last -10db but I'm curious none the less....the speakers have a sensitivity of 93db ish but idk how that translates to my recievers volume scale. I downloaded a DB meter app and it showed at -25db I was ranging from 60db to 100db....but these speakers can do much more and I don't even feel like they are working hard at -25. Anyways Any and all education anyone can throw at me would be appreciated. Also i love these speakers so far thanks for the good advice.
  8. i ended up going with a rp500c and rp500m bookshelves. Killed my budget but based on the specs and what reviews i have read at least i know ill be getting an upgrade. Now my only question would be if you think i could use my current F/L speakers from the quintet 5.0 set as atmos speakers i currently have them in the top front corners of my living room so i kinda figured i wouldnt even need to relocate them if i used them as such. End result being the RP500c and the rp500m's in the front central part of my living room the 500m's being about 8ft apart the quintet (atmos) speakers being about 6 foot upward at a 45 degree angle from the 500m's on the same wall..... my other quintet surrounds being to either side of the listening positions 15ft from the front speakers. Thoughts and or suggestions?
  9. im currently using a quintet 5.0 setup with a bic sub ....im thinking of swapping out my front l/r with r-51m speakers and the center with an r-52c but im having trouble finding comparisons online to ensure im not making a lateral move here. Im using a Denon avr-x2600h.
