  1. Cool. What made me wonder is your comment about the capacitor being hazardous.
  2. OK sounds like I should pay someone to do this. Any takers?
  3. 440T with 500T power unit. A couple photos if that'll help.
  4. Sitting at the computer last night listening to music. All of a sudden a loud pop and bright light on the floor next to my foot. Unplugged the receiver right away. Apparently the (original 1965) power cord broke internally and shorted. There was music as I unplugged it so I don't think it damaged the unit. So I need to replace the power cord. Everything I find is polarized but the original is not. Is this something I should be concerned about?
  5. Why would you even consider that? Barring health issues I see no reason.
  6. When life was simple. Before stupidity ruined a good thing.
  7. I've been having issues with FF on some forums where it just won't work or render correctly.
  8. Haven't purchased any Loctite in awhile have we? https://www.grainger.com/product/LOCTITE-272-Series-High-Strength-Threadlocker-4KL51?gucid=N:N:PS:Paid:MS:CSM-2296:LC5DTN:20500731&ef_id=f2b0d6e3471513417ee5b71f0731229f:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!2966!10!79164925649360!2330964651052237&&msclkid=f2b0d6e3471513417ee5b71f0731229f&gclid=f2b0d6e3471513417ee5b71f0731229f&gclsrc=3p.ds

    Horology...

While that is spectacular it's not available at any price. I'd like to add the Grand Seiko is a very under rated watch. Grail watch for me. My daily is a first gen Orange Monster. A beast of a watch.
  10. The cost of a 1 3/8"-16 tap is $126.64. The fixturing to ensure correct engagement will take a lot of time to set up as a tap that large is ungainly to use by hand. And that assumes there's enough left to repair. Not the method I'd pursue. Were it mine and I wished to reuse existing parts here's my take. I'd clean threads very well both horn and driver. Using Loctite 272 generously (several drops around the threads of driver-DO NOT coat entire thread) then install driver into horn. Allow it to sit vertically (mouth of horn down) overnight. I'd used a new original type gasket as well. It will take some effort to remove when/if time comes.
  11. ......as a matter of fact it's all dark.
  12. If you wish to understand (especially military) history reading books would be the preferred medium. Movies are entertainment subject to the bias of writers and directors. Telling a story and dispensing information are quite different. In my experience a career soldier would be the person to ask. I worked with a 25+ year retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sargent who was/is one of the best educated men I've ever met. His knowledge and ability to explain history w/o political coloration is unparalleled in my lifetime. His personal politics were unmistakable however his integrity with the historical facts was without reproach. A tough thing to do. He helped me understand a lot about Vietnam and it's root causes.
  13. R.I.P. Dr. Johnny. A longtime favorite of mine.
  14. Been using Spotify free version for a year or so and happy with it. Don't want to play politics just music so no comment on the people trying to influence my thoughts. Just wanna hear music.
  15. 17°F with winds gusting into the mid 20 MPH range for a 2°F wind chill. About half inch or so of snow yesterday. Yeah winter in the mountains of West Virginia.
  16. Bill Gates. So no that's not biased. That's the problem in our times. Get online and seek out "data" that agrees with your perspective. Truth be damned.
  17. No. It's they who have the answers.
  18. Estimated by who? Nah not buying into crap like that.
  19. Honestly how crazy will it have to be for the change to be noticeable?
