  1. Hi there first time poster but long time sub 10 and sub 12 lover lol. My sub 12 has been in daily use since I purchased it back in August of 07. That's 13 years of mirror and window rattling enjoyment and sometimes slight abuse. Back around 2010 during moving I broke off the phase switch arm and shortly after started having issues with the subcutting out. A solution that worked for the past 10 years was to sit the subwoofer vertically on its face so that the amplifier pain was horizontal. For the longest time I suspected it was a leaky capacitor needing to be angled at a certain way. Well I know that not to be true now :-). Thanks to relatives visiting and me having to manually shut off the sub so they can sleep while I watch a movie the sub fully cut out with light still on. This time I fully pulled the guts out and poked around after reading online about possible glue causing short outs. All my capacitors look okay but the phase switch always was suspect after breaking. I ended up cutting leg number three off and wrapping it around the center number two leg. It works perfectly now I suspect the sdpt switches are vibrating loose internally causing a lot of "failures". They are unfortunately glued and soldered to the boards in such position it's difficult to access. But so long as you do not cut the center leg that is grounded to the amplifier pane you can force it into one of its positions with the other two legs. I hope this helps someone out there have a great night.
