  1. I'm looking for a clean pair of AA crossovers to upgrade. Thank you!
  2. I would like to change the topic of my garage listing to include the word sold. How do I modify it? Disregard....I figured it out. Now to see if I can delete this post.
  3. What specific caps would you use when replacing the original caps, whilst preserving the original sonic characteristics and perhaps improving the sound?
  4. Type AA crossovers upgraded by JEM Performance Audio. These are the only Klipsch authorized upgrades available for these crossovers. Just completed a couple weeks ago. $250 plus shipping.
  5. Can you please explain the difference in these two types of caps?
  6. I just got my JEM upgraded networks today. I kept my original '79 networks intact so I could compare the sound. I'll try them out tomorrow.
  7. Thank you for your reply. I think that's exactly what I'm going to do although I am not really disappointed in the La Scala's bottom end. While they don't go super low, the bass that they do have is very fast and accurate to my ears. I just need to figure out which sub will blend in with them the best. Any suggestions? Accurate music reproduction is my primary focus.

    1957 Khorns for sale

The thing is, relative to how expensive new "audiophile" speakers are and how amazing old Heritage speakers sound in comparison to anything else on the market I think they should be worth a lot more money. Many would say I overpaid for my La Scala's but I just bought a pair of speakers I will probably own for the rest of my life.
  10. So beautiful....I wish I had corners for them. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/eld/d/phoenix-klipsch-1957-klipschorns/7256435804.html
  11. I just removed the drivers from my La Scala's and they are very dusty. The previous owner had sandwiched some type of fabric in between the drivers and the cabinets and they trapped a ton of dust in the horns. Best way to clean them and any other advice would be appreciated.
  12. Does the sub filter out the low frequencies before sending the signal to the amp? And is there anyway to be able to adjust the volume of the amp and sub simultaneously?
  13. Is there any degradation of the signal to the amp when you go through the SVS first?
  14. It does have a sub out, but I think it only works if I use the onboard DAC. I'm using an external DAC.
  15. Looking to buy a non upgraded pair of AA crossovers.
  16. That's a great idea. Now to find a pair of AA crossovers. I see none on Ebay.
  17. I am going to send them in early next week. I will let you know my before and after impressions in 2 -3 weeks.
  18. I'm actually a little nervous to touch them because they are sounding so beautiful to me. All original AA crossovers from '79 that hadn't be played in almost 10 yrs when I bought them. They didn't sound good at first. Yesterday I turned the system on and couldn't stop listening all day. Can 41 yr. old caps still be good?
  19. I'm pretty sure Jim will sell you the parts or you can send them in and he will upgrade them.
  20. My system consists of a Bluesound Node 2i going into a Benchmark DAC3 B input to a Tsakiridis Aeolos Ultra amp driving La Scala's. I would like to add a SVS SB16 Ultra. Can someone please tell me how to accomplish this and have the correct filtering between the sub and La Scala's?
  21. After speaking at length to Jim Moorhouse I feel pretty comfortable with having JEM update my crossovers. The caps they use were actually selected and authorized by engineers at Klipsch and the only ones that will keep your Heritage speakers authentic. It's hard to argue with that.
  22. I am new to owning Klipsch speakers, having recently purchased a set of vintage La Scala's, and as such I have never experimented with different combinations of amps driving them. I can say that my initial impression of these speakers was not very good. The speakers were unused for close to 10 yrs and I don't know if the caps needed to recharge, the woofer needed to loosen up, or if my brand new amp needed some time on it, or a combination of all of the above but after a few hours the sound has really blossomed and is just amazing. I am driving the La Scala's with a brand new Tsakiridis Aeolos Ultra amp which uses 4 x KT150 and 4 x 12AT7. I have it in Triode mode and it sounds really good. But now I want to experiment with different amps. I really love the warmth in the midrange of some tube amps and I don't believe the Tsakiridis exhibits much of that. It is pretty neutral, which I know is a normally a good thing. I just want to see if I can find a combination that my ears might enjoy even more.
  23. The best sounding low powered tube integrated amp you've ever heard with Heritage speakers?
  24. I would expect my La Scalas to be driving me out of the room with the volume at 9 o'clock but it's not until I get up to 11 or 12 o'clock that they start getting loud. What could be causing this?
