  1. Some sort of collection of La Scalas and other big stuff from a movie theater. Never seen the big stuff, but it might just be a good deal at 2 grand. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1303691700012145/
  2. Same as my other La Scala alert. That one can be removed as this shows it as well. La Scala https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/756779645196744/ KLF30 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/253457849518042/
  3. Same guy is selling KLF30s. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/253457849518042/
  4. It's not the right time for me to buy...unless I find some CF-4s, that is. Seems like at least a slightly nice price. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/756779645196744/
  5. Keeping the thread alive. Patiently searching, still won't have the home to use them in for several months but willing to buy the right set anytime.
  6. Are you willing to travel to Minnesota? Lol. Not mine but I know of some here. Oak, excellent condition, $1600. Maybe a bit too far and maybe a bit high on price.
  7. Keeping this topic active, still just being patient, waiting to find CF-4s.
  8. Nice. I'm happy to wait for something easier to grab, close to that price point, especially since anything I buy before I move into my own place will just sit unused anyway. Thanks for the spiritual CF-4 guidance.
  9. Ah okay, I thought some early 95s with grey horns might be V1 but I definitely trust your analysis. I couldn't open the spreadsheet on mac. My gut is telling me there will be others between now and the summer, and if I LIVED close to the guy, maybe I'd buy those black ones.
  10. I am on board now that the new EV drivers are totally good on the IL set, but as far as the GA set on usaudiomart, are they V1? The horns look grey and 0415695060 and 041595061.
  11. So here's the scoop with the usadiomart pair: He'll take $1400 cash in hand, and I have some ways to get them to me via friends who travel back and forth from his area to mine. Kind of a hassle, but doable. I like black better than oak. And aren't they v1s? He has original boxes and manuals, which frankly might just add to the price and don't matter to me. I'd rather not have that stuff and pay less. Also, if I should be advised these do come up often enough, I will simply wait for a good pair closer to me. I won't need them for 6 months or more, as in I won't be able to use them til then. So there's nothing wrong with doing nothing for the time being.
  12. Okay everyone. Since I'm new, I'd appreciate some perspective from those who have been here long enough to know how rare/not rare it is to find good condition, (pretty sure) version 1 CF-4s. I've been talking to the guy, and it seems like he would actually let them go lower than his ad. They are far away. However, I have some connections in the area where he is, and I have friends who sometimes drive between here and there so there's a good chance I could have a friend grab them on their next trip. Is a great condition, version 1 set of CF-4s at a (not steal but) fair price something to really go out of my way to get? Or given 6 months, will I see a few more? Since there was a set listed at the time I found out about CF-4s, I have to assume there might be another when I'm ready to move to a house and use big speakers again. If anyone who definitely won't try to snag them out from under me wants to chat about the details, send me a message.
  13. I updated my profile with my location. Thanks for the pointer.
  14. Actually I only owned one pair in those pics, and I sold them. So all I have now are some small studio monitors for my computer. Those all belong to a couple friends.
  15. Thanks! And I will. I am also checking a few websites every day.
  16. Hey everyone, I'm a new member and I thought since I've already chatted with some of you in my WTB thread, I'd share a brief story of how I got here. In 2006, just after college, I made a few visits to my local facnypants stereo store, and I got a nice deal on their floor model Martin Logan Montages since they needed to bring in the new model. I went with a Rotel RX-1052. I enjoyed that setup for about 13 years, but I just moved back to my hometown amidst a big career shift, and I'm staying with my best friend for a little while so my stuff has been temporarily stashed away. I have another friend who is into vintage Klipsch, and he is about to make me spend some money, lol. His main speakers until recently were Fortes, paired with a Marantz 2238. His basement set were KG4s with a Marantz 2238B. A few weeks ago I brought it over my gear, and after lots of comparisons it was clear that both of his '80s Klipsch sets sounded better than my Martin Logans. So I got to selling my MLs, which didn't take long. Also on comparison day I spotted some Choruses on Craigslist. A couple days later he asked if I'd come along to pick them up. So now he has the Choruses, Fortes and KG4s. All sound wonderful in their own ways. Fast forward a week, and I had convinced my best friend/room mate to let me help her upgrade from her Bose 501 Series Vs. They were powered by a fairly common low-mid level Yamaha receiver, and we didn't change that. Good enough. But I found a great deal on some KG4.2s ($280). I grabbed those for her, brought them to my same friend's house for his seal of approval on the way back, and what do you know? They also sounded awesome. She gave her Boses to her mom, along with another Yamaha I found on Facebook. Everyone wins. As for me, with the Martin Logans sold, that takes us to my WTB post. I'm looking for CF-4s and I know they're hard to come by, but I likely won't move into my own home for the better part of a year, so I can sit patiently. I'm good with a little road trip too, for the right deal. I'm also open to KLF30s, but it seems to me the CF-4s might be just a little more special. Feel free to add your own thoughts, and enjoy the pictures!
  17. I messaged him but we'll see if he can move much. It would take a good bit of negotiation to get me to bite so far in advance of when I'll need them. I have plenty of time to watch for nice deals. I'm realistic - I do expect to cross the $1000 mark, but hopefully not by a whole lot. I have about $700 earmarked from selling some smaller Martin Logans and bookshelf Bang & Olufsens. In fact, I should do a post about my path to Klipsch. Some fun photos from this fall/winter.
  18. Good call, that too. I like how they're in the "nightstands" category.
  19. Ooooh. Exciting to see a much lower price, but oak is my least favorite finish and I'm not sure if I should go with non-original drivers, and a 13 hour round trip. Don't get me wrong, for a set that feels like THE RIGHT set, I'd drive that, but seeing as I won't have my own living room for 6 or 12 months, I feel like I have time to wait for THE RIGHT set.
  20. Whew I'm glad that's not a fair price, because I really want some but really don't want to spend that! Side note: Might consider the right deal on KLF-30s, open to opinions and yes I read the versus thread on these two and so far have landed on CF-4s.
  21. Oh yeah that set is also on eBay. I agree it's a bit on the high end. I became a fan of Klipsch because a friend has some really great sets, and I recently went with him to pick up a set of Choruses for $900. I don't know how I could justify spending over $1800 for CF-4s after hearing his Choruses. That said, I'm more a fan of the size/shape of things like the CFs and KLFs than the 80s refrigerators. He has a large living room and I'm not sure I will.
  22. Hey, new member here and I know - lots of people want CF-4s. But I don't want them until I move out of my apartment into a house, and I don't expect that to happen for at least six months, maybe a year. So I'm putting the word out early, as it seems they don't come up for sale that often. If a solid set comes up for a fair price, by all means I will buy and store them until my move, but I expect I'll have to have some patience. I'm in the Minneapolis area, but I won't shy away from a reasonable road trip for the right deal. Thanks!
