Monty, I'll take Door #7.

I took DaveA's advice and placed a block of wood alongside the trim and used a hammer to break the adhesive bond to separate the trim from the cabinet. Easy peasy. I elected not to use adhesive when reattaching the trim as they'll no longer get the rough handling that a pair of true road speakers would.

Grew up near the old Illinois Central tracks and watched the City of New Orleans go by every day. A few years back took the train from Oakland CA to Chicago then to Memphis. Lots of lonely country out there.

Scrub them really clean, then use an automotive fiberglass polish.

I'm gonna differ with those that say they're painted. Hard to tell from the pic, but in good light it appears that it's black thread embedded in the fiberglass resin that gives them the black color.

This ad popped up on my feed today. At first glance, I thought it was something other than a turntable stand, lol.

Very nice. A great deal for someone.

This guy is squirrely AF. I've made a deal with him not once, but twice and he's backed out both times. The first time he said he'd decided that he just couldn't part with them and the second time he told me he had given them to his son.

Klipsch Heresy Industrial Ported (HIP) w/Aluminum Trim Pair (SOLD)
chassell replied to Frzninvt's topic in Garage Sale
Gosh, I agree. Clean with bright trim and bright logos. Aluminum SMAHLS would look gorgeous in those. -
Some recent research reveals that, in rats anyway, exercise stimulates release of a hormone that reduces appetite.

Did my La Scalas cross the ocean twice?
chassell replied to Dave MacKay's topic in Ask the Historian
I "asked the historian" to see if there was info about my LSIs. The reply was "shipped to Germany in 1978". -
Post in the ask the historian section. Industrial speaker serial numbers do not, by themselves indicate year of manufacture, but Klipsch has records of many of the industrials.

I cannot imagine. I'm running an old Marantz 2230 with only 30wpc with my 301's and you could rattle your fillings with that!
-
They're nice integrated amps. Running LSIs in my shop with one.

Exactly!

Evidently none of us hear the same things. Listened to a fascinating podcast today about how sound becomes hearing. Amazing audio examples in the podcast showing how our brains process hearing and how we hear what we expect to hear.
