  1. You do realize thats the avarage ohmes right? Speakers cam go from 2-40 ohms depending one the frequency. The RF-7s dip into 2.8 ohmes in the bass region. And belive it or not no speaker that I know of has a flat ohmes reponce across the whole frequency range. I think the old RF-3s go down to about 4 ohmes.
  2. For some reason the power in my first reciver had this wierd problem of changing power from one speaker to another. When it was new, it didn't do this. I have to get up change the balance. 5 mins later it changes back to normal or switches all to way to the other side. Ok so that ones now dead after 10 years. Now i am useing my dads even older but less used one and am haveing the same issues. It is just normal for gear to do this when gets old? I am wondering if the 2.8 ohmes in my RF-7s just killes amps quicker. I plan on upgrading to seperates later. Is there anything I can do for now? CD
  3. I bought a friend of mine a pair of Rb-35s and an Onkyo 502 then a friend of hers replaced it with a H/K. I think with H/K it actually sounds pretty laid back. So if you have a something like that it shouldn't sound harsh or bright at all. As far as haveing the same 3 speakers up front goes(and not bragging), I had 3 RF-7s up front and it sounded really good. It went from speaker to speaker seamlessly. In my mind what a better center then one that is exactly like your mains. I say go for it. CD
  4. I am not a salesman. Just a guy with a hobby sharing my findings with others. I only talked about the products I used. Other compies do a good job to. Examples would be Gran Prix Audio,Solid Tech and Sanus I read makes good speaker stands. My main point of my post was to get others into vibration isolation. It really works., but somethings out there are trash. Some compines go the distance and makes things that work, others are just trying to make money. I have been lucky to find things that work. I am not saying vibration isolation should be on top of your list of things to get. The equipment itself should be the bigger priority. When your happy with your equipment, then you buy vibration isolation. One good example vibration isolation is a brace in a speaker. Anyway, I found something that works and I thought it would be nice to tell others my findings. CD
  5. I bet most of you if not all of you have seen some sort of vibration Isolation device(s) You may have past it off as nothing important and continued looking at your normal equipment. I have spent a good deal of time, energy, and money finding what works and what effects it may have. I belive this stuff works and works very well. My RF-7s were bright and harsh at the top end. Then I decided to do my own DIY of something that exist that only cost me $8 at lowes and about 10 mins of cutting. Belive it or not, I put 4 4'' by 6'' by 1'' pieces of oak each under my DVD player and reciver and noticed more detial and the highs a little easier to listen to as well as better focus of the soundstage. Althought note the difference was small it was there. So I read reviews about and found one on a $9000 rack that was considerd one of the best ones. The shelves were made of granite. Well I won't spend $9000 on a rack so back to lowes I granite and paid about $20 each for 3 18x18. I noticed the sound became more solid and had more detial. So $68 is not bad considering the improvment. But some things were alittle off but I didn't realize it until I got my Gingo Mini Clouds. Its basicly 3 footers for $100. This was actually worth spending. The sound was cleaner without changing treble but added a little bass. The highs were easier to listen to and more detail. So after that, I decided to bite the bullet and get 2 Ginko Cloud 11s. They are a platform that you equipment sits on.Alone it improved over the Mini Clouds and other stuff. Then one day when I had the house to myself I made what I call the 850 tower. So starting from the bottom up. I had 5 pieces of the oak in what look like a 5 on a dice. Then I put the Mini Clouds on top of the wood. On top of the Mini clouds went 1 tile of granite. On top of the granite I put 3 mini Clouds with the 2 closer to the back and one stright under were the transport would sit. And on top of all that went 1 of my Cloud 11s. All this was about 5.5 inches tall. I put my DVD player on it, put in a disk and never heard it sound this good before. To bad I couldn't keep it set up. The music was very enjoyable. The reason its called the 850 tower is because it cost $850 of vibration control stacked to make. So if you don't like your equipment, just spend $100 on somthing like the Ginko Mini Clouds or other footers. Great thing is, this stuff can be used on just about an gear you own.and it won't be outdated or unuseable 5-10 years from now. One last thing I got but is discontinued but you still may be able to buy are Gutwire Notepads. They bascily added more focus to the soundstage when put on my DVD player. For anyone who is still with me at this point this is how I have set up now. My Reciver is set up with the 5 peices of oak,5 Mini clouds, granite, then Cloud 11 My DVD Player 3 Peices of oak, 3 Mini Clouds, then Cloud 11 RF-7s each with the granite on the bottom and game guides on top(yes they actually help) My system sounds more natual and the highs are much easier to listen to. I notice I can play louder without strain and my speakers tend to disappear. One disk I tried with this set up that dissapears well is a CD by Tina Arena titled don't ask. Others I have tried are songs from Hilary Duff,Jonas Brothers and few others. To be honest at first I was sceptcal. Then, the more I tried and spent, the more I belived Vibration Isolation can make a big differnce. I think everyone who cares about how there system sounds should at least look into it and learn what they can about it. Here is a review thats tries to teach alittle on the subject. http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/hrs/m1r.html I do realize the spelling errors, but I am tired. Thanks to anyone to read this. cdasng
  6. How much and would you ship it? Just trying to look at all my options.
  7. I plan on replaceing my reciver and would like a suggetion on which one to get. I could get an Onkyo TX-SR805,Denon 3806,Pioneere Elite 84, Or Yamaha RX-V2700. I am thinking of buy a Parsound Halo 2 channal amp as well. I hope to get the A21 but I may just settle for the A23. My quick list of equipment is Reciver: Yamaha RX-v992 DVD player: Onkyo DV-SP1000 Mains RF-7 Center: RF 7(I may buy an LCD screen to help make space for my 3rd RF-7) Rear RS-3II(Letting parents borrow RF-3IIs,Plan on buying Klipsch speakers for parents this Christmas) Sub: RSW-15
  8. 3 towers look cool to me. I had 3 RF-7s up front for awhile. Never heard a better transition for LCR. I copied off mOON but no projector. I may actucally do that next year. My go is if you have the room and way to do it, 3 RF-82s would be great. CD
  9. I have an old receiver thats about 10 years old. It has Dolby Digital but nothing really newer then that. My budget is around $1500-$2000. I went over to bestbuy to check out receivers sence they had RF-82s connected to about 7 recivers. My favoritve one was the Yamaha 2700 but sounds to similer to mine to feel like I bought anything. Sure, the features are good but I mostly listen to 2 channel. I did listen to my parents system switching out there cheap $200 DVD player with my Onkyo DV-SP1000 connecting it to their Onkyo TX-SR602 which are connected to my RF-3IIs. I liked that setup better so my thought was getting the Onkyo TX-SR805. I think it will sound closer to what I want, has all the features I would care for at a price I don't mind paying. My other thought was getting a Parasound A21. I feel the RF-7s would like the extra power and sound much better. So do I A:Get the Onkyo TX-SR805 B:Get Parasound A21 C: Other idea in price range. Thank you in advance and sorry for the double spacing but thats just how it came out. cdsang
  10. Jeepers, where was this months ago. As of right now cash is low but will go back up around April. I have 3 RF-7s now and would love 2 more to match them not to metion they match. I live in Dover DE and have no idea if thats in distance but something tells me its to far. If you haven't sold them by them hopeflully i could get them. The most important thing i see is they get a loveing home. Good luck. CD
  11. To start out with, I was looking for a good DVD player and went to my dealer. Looking at models and reading reviews, I decided on this model. I have had this unit for about 3 weeks now and just recently got a new Toshiba 30 inch 16 by 9 HDTV(first TV i ever bought) because I was sick of my RCA 20 inch. Getting the Unit I called my high end store to see if the unit can with his saying he just got it 10 mins ago. I go to pick it up being very happy it finally arrived. I got there and he brought out the box and it was just huge. Exited I opened it to see what it looked like in person. Beatiful was the first thought in my mind. It looked so well crafted. I boxed it back up and took it home. Unpacking the Unit I got home and moved my old unit out and carfully put in the Onkyo. Geeze this was heavy for a DVD player. Getting my 2nd look at it still looking how pretty it is. Everything was packed well and has a pretty decent size manual. The remote looks like the Onkyo reciver ones only this one has a nice alumium top part and nice gummy buttons. It included all your connection cords including HDMI. Menu setup The menu is pretty easy to use and understand. It also includes 3 saved setups for both interlaced and Progressive settings such as, color, brightness, contrast and so on. The background can even be changed to a few different colors with a stone on the bottem left of the color type. Looks good actually. Using the remote with the menu was pretty easy and feels nice to use. CD Audio I tried multiple types of music on this unit and it doesn't matter which one it is, it just sounds awsome. Comparing it to my DV-SP 301 I know doesn't seem fair, but I wanted to see how much more I got. It seems the 1000 is alot less compressed and sounds more open. I used the Video off button for my audio listening. I noticed it helps it be even more less compressed. Be carefull with this unit, it likes to go loud. I am now seeing my reciver is now the weekness, because I was able to turn it up without my ears complaining, I got the point were my reciver started to compress. DVD Audio I only have one DVD audio, but that to sounded pretty good. I have been litting my parents borrow my RF-3IIs so 5.1 wasn't an option to try, but the 2.1 I was useing sounded better then the 5.1 on the 301. Basicly it did the same thing to DVD audio as it did to CDs. DVD Video Standered TV I put in some of my favorite ones this test. I used Toy Story, Monsters Inc., The Incredibles and a few other Pixar movies. I also tried Pirits of the caribeian and Back to the Future 3. The picture was better but not a major jump. My RCA isn't that great. DVD Video HDTV I used the same disk as the standed TV test but got much better results with my HDTV . I used both componet connections which both look really good with the HD looking better in coler and depth. I dunno if any of you heard about the sound deley on HDTVs with this unit. Well, its there, but not to noticeable. I did however use the setup parts in the DVD player to compesate for it and now works fine. I also tried the HDMI cable that came with it which lets you change the resolution and yes, that looks even better. When watching Toy Story with compent inputs, I was able to see the threads on the seat of the Pizza Planet truck and on the bed. Even the door looked like real wood with all the marks it was showing. Conclusion Ok, I realize I have spelling errors, but my computer is on the frits and I don't want to retype this. Anyway, this is a wonferfull unit. If spending this kinda money is no problem and you don't have a hgh end DVD player yet, this is one to get. I do realize however this is not the only great model out there. This is just from what I have seen and IMHO one of the best players I have ever seen up and running. Hope you guys like the review.
  12. I don't own the LS but I do own an RSW 15. Considering I have it in a small room I have it in an area thats hard to see the back but I am pretty sure it has RCA ins and outs. I remember 4 RCA connections. The Crossover setting is next to them as well. The volume is nicely set up at the upper right side looking from the front of it which I really like. I set mine at half way and provides plenty of power. My only dissoppontment with it is when hitting frequencies below 20 Hz at high levels. They should have made it so the PR has more XMAX on it. At 20 hz the active woofer barly movies while the PR goes nuts. At lower levels (around 95 dB) its not as much of a problem. From 30 Hz and up it has no problem with not giving enough bass. Once I did get that 120 dB at 30Hz(for about 5 secs) about a foot away from it and it was clean. Blends well when placed right and sounds seemless and effortless. Sorry, sometimes I just get carried away. Hope I answered all your questions. CD
  13. Onkyo DV-SP 1000 which I will be waiting to get. I read all sorts of reviews before I decided on it. If any body wants me to do a quick review on it, just ask after I get it. Should be a nice upgrade from my lowly Onkyo DV-SP 301. The 301 was really just a quick fix and now I am just sick of it. CD
  14. KDE, that makes me feel better about buying the pioneer. BS Button, I looked to see if they sell Sony ES at that store sells high end stuff and from what I can tell, they don't. The only place I see selling something like that is 1 hour away and that money I put in for the DVD player can only be used at the place I payed for it. This is mostly due because of the discounts I always get. I am not knocking your idea as I have read and heard good things. Well, from things I have read, it has all the things on it I was looking for. I am just not sure how well it would perform. But again, thank you for you quick answers. CD
  15. that place I paid for it didn't order it yet to give me time to decide on something else. I could pay another 800 for an Onkyo DV-SP 1000 or simply do something from Denon, Integra, or the upper Kenwood stuff. I have until 1 pm tommorow to change my mind. Did I pick a good choice? I don't want to pay much more than a grand. 1300 is fine, but not much more. Thank you in advance EDIT: I dicided to up my limit to the 1700 they are asking for the Onkyo. Still donno if I want to buy it. CD
