  1. It’s a few pages back, he’s running some Italian made drivers that come close to the OGs, I wanna say. Lemme look it up.
  2. That walnut is just superb. I like it even a smidge more than cherry. Good stuff.
  3. To piggyback off this, the CF2 and KV4 use the exact same 2” diaphragm (K-64-KN) as the CF3&4 (K-63-KN). So technically, you can easily swap those diaphragms into the CF3&4’s magnets and be up and running. See this post for more context:
  4. Love, love that walnut finish. So it appears the wayward dust caps were the culprit after all! Glad to have helped save you unnecessary searching, expense and heartache.
  5. Hi. Just a quick thought—did you check if the dust cap was 100% sealed and seated? Sometimes all it takes is a little inconspicuous section to become unglued and hover just proud of the woofer, creating a rattle noise during excursion.
  6. AVR. Pioneer SC-57. It’s pretty stout. I’ll still probably tag a power amp for the Epics when Emotiva has a sale.
  7. Apologies for the late response and thanks for the replies. Front stage is Epic CF4s and a KV4. I ended up going with a pair of R-41M for the surrounds, new in box for <$100. Couldn’t really beat it and they’re the preferred form factor for this particular space. Going with towers like the kg’s would’ve resulted in the right side’s woofer being mostly obstructed by a couch. I’m finally on the tail end of things, needing to just run the auto calibration then fine tune/ tweak stuff.
  8. Initially this’ll be a 5.2 with bi-amped L/R, likely to add a pair of heights at a later time for 7.2 while keeping the fronts bi’d. But looking for opinions on which speaker to go with for rear surround channels that’ll be inline with the sides of the couch, facing the seating positions. The bookshelfs would be on stands.
  9. You’re gonna love ‘em. They sound great. I’d probably pay $250 for the tweeter drivers alone if I were desperate. You did well here IMO.
  10. I’m sure it will. This sole CF2 I grabbed sounded stellar on its own powered only by a humble Denon AVR. I might sharpen my restorative chops on its cabinet sometime and keep it around.

  12. There’s a handful of CF1 and 2 pairs around at the moment and those Topeka CF4s I posted in alerts. Probably just convenient timing because yeah, it’s otherwise slim pickings.
  13. Suppose you’re right. Could get fancy with the iron on veneers. I’ve not seen a white washed one outside of their original brochure. Klipsch sold probably <10 pairs lol. That style seems to have come full circle today with the stark greys and whites of home interior design schemes. Next to that, I hardly see any walnut examples; I like its grain characteristic a bit more than the oaks, granted I’ll always be fond of those, growing up around my uncles’ Fortes, Chorus IIs. I actually prefer that and cherry—black satin has grown on me too. I personally find it handsome, reserved.. monolithic. I guess ‘unfinished’ deserves mention. My dad’s ‘79 Heresys (Heresies?).
  14. Wow, yeah. Those are big center channel shoes to fill, for sure. Your KLF idea gave me a quirky idea. One could possibly swap KV4 drivers and XO into a KLF-C7 box to gain wood finishes that strangely weren’t availed to the KV4. Again quirky, but I think it’d work.
  15. Meant to ask you about this but was obviously flustered at that moment. When you say you were running 320wpc or 120wpc to it, was this in an all-channels driven audio setting running music? Watching cinema in surround sound? I agree the C7 is very similar save for the KV4’s tweeter, which’s 100% bigger. There’s some discord about whether it’s exactly the same cd as the CF3-4. Allegedly the latter sports a heavier magnet with the K63. Diaphragms are definitely the same. I’ve got a unique situation given the mishap with my KV4—I’ve got 2 XOs for it now. I’m going to have the original repaired and recapped, while leaving the other XO alone in original condition. I’ll let you know if the refreshed XO “lifts the blanket.”
  16. What @Zack Rsaid, lol. I find myself using the wide pan shutter and always taking it in landscape, as this site loves tilting portrait shots on their side. Note to self though: don’t take selfies with the wide shutter 🤣
  17. Sure did. He ended up having an entire CF2. The other one was stripped and he couldn’t find the drivers or XO. He said he’d get back with me if he finds them. For what it’s worth, the sole CF2 sounded great before I stripped it. Shame the cabinets are worse and worser.
  18. Then again, given what crunchman’s talking about, and since there’s at least a shred of legitimacy here, and given the ease of swapping the diaphragm assemblies without dealing with the diaphragm directly, I’d go ahead and drop the K-64 assembly into the K-63. My due diligence meter would demand it.
  19. You’re right. And Michael Crites made me look closer at the CF2 board to see that the identical looking purple caps actually had different MFD values. I believe he alluded to something similar when explaining why there was a discrepancy in caps on an otherwise likewise XO.
  20. I’m with ya here brother. One could author a chronology on what took part these couple of years. I agree with you on the last bit especially. This is common sense manufacturing practice nearly across the board. We see it in auto manufacturing a lot, for example.
  21. I actually joked with my wife about that. She was actually going, “Nuuuuuu!” as I was stripping it. She dug how it sounded too, lol. It’s an interesting notion even if I had the space to do that (I really don’t). So the unported KV4 does the center duty for now. Key differences really are just the aforementioned different model-numbered woofers and different enclosures. All other things basically being equal.
  22. And its woofers, look seemingly identical to the KV4’s, is K-29-KN. KV4 uses K-35-KN. Actual performance or internal differences, I couldn’t tell ya.
  23. Feel a little sad for this CF2. Sounded great powered up. Was really surprised at its ability to fill the room by itself. All its drivers are pristine. Cabinet just rough rough. Also if anyone was wondering, its port tube is the same as the dual CF4s (and probably CF3).
