  1. Thank you, MMurg. I was pretty concerned about whether or not I'd be able to keep the Heresy on the floor in the Center position or if I'd need to wait to find a single Forte and have to raise the TV. ANd who knows how long that find would take?
  2. Thanks, Wuzzer. If having the subs on either side of the couch doesn't work out, I may have some reconfiguring to do. I'm really just crossing my fingers on this because having two subs like the PB-3000s, should create more than enough oomph to pressurize the room. Hope I'm right. And than you for your input!
  3. I'm building a 5.2 theater for a smallish living room (approx 15x20) and I have the mains already, a mint pair of Forte Is. For the set-up, I want to use an Onkyo RZ50 because it's affordable, Dirac is great, it has phono and analog video inputs if I want to add a D-VHS. What I'm thinking is having SVS SB-3000s (or HSU ULS 15s) on either side of the couch with Heresy IIIs placed on top of them and a Heresy III for the center raised up a bit to match the auditory sightline of the Forte's with the TV mounted on the wall. Do I even need to raise the center if it remains on the upward projecting riser? Does this seem like a reasonable timbre matching set-up or should I have a Forte in the center as well? I'd like to have the Heresy's on top of the subs for space conservation. Otherwise, stuff has to go behind the couch and that gets into complications with power cords.
  4. I just wanted to thank everyone for your great input. It's a big move. I used to have a Monitor Audio 7.1 set up and I was always happy with it. But because the Forte's were part of my childhood, I really want to make them a part of my adult life. I think if people can rock Klipschorns in apartments I should be okay. A little mindfulness and consideration will be required but that's standard operating procedure in all areas of life. I just wasn't sure how loud these things are going to be.
  5. This summer I inherited a pair of mint, lightly used Forte I's. I have it in mind to use them for side surrounds in a 5.2 set up and have all Forte 3 or 4's for the front with a couple of Monolith 12 subs powered by a Denon AVR-X4700H. My living room is about 19' x 16' in a ground floor old apt building on a busy street. Is this waaay overkill?
  6. Thanks everyone for being kind enough to reply and share your wisdom.
  7. Rplace, Not that I have the option of doing Khorns with 4x Heresys at the moment (I WISH), but I do want to use the system (only looking for 5.1 for now) for music as well. I listen to a lot of HD tracks, concert videos and I'm getting my Pop's Thorens turntable which will replace my Vestax. I remember he was allowed to play his jazz loud on Sunday mornings and the Fortes were pretty magic even though they shook my bed around as a wake up call As long as the surrounds and center don't stick out like a sore thumb sonically next to the Forte pair, I'll be okay with it. For most straight audio listening, I think I'll be going 2.1. So, I have a couple of votes for Academy, one strongly opposed and a couple of other suggestions including KG4. Thank you!
  8. Noob question. I'm being given my Dad's mint condition Forte I's and I need some suggestions for side surrounds. Timbre matching is important but it's not everything to me. I'm using a Pioneer Elite SC-67 AVR, running 180w per channel (I think?) and have decided to get a Klipsch Academy center because timbre matching is more important in the front three IMHO. I'll be adding at least one sub, probably SVS or HSU. The room is medium sized (maybe 15 x 20 at most) and can be entirely closed off for a four wall box effect. It is a first floor apartment in an older building but it's in a noisier area. My basic question is should I go for KG4s, Heresys or eschew concerns regarding sound matching altogether on the sides and get something like the RP-600m?
