  1. I got a new multisystem remote. At first the stereo's sound was slightly muddled. After a few days of channel surfing, however, this smoothed out entirely. I'm back to pure listening pleasure.
  2. I have a NAD c160 preamp but I use another preamp for the phono. It is a NIKKO Beta III. It sounds way better than the NAD and it has two phono inputs. Further the level of phono 2 is adjustable, so if one phono is louder you can even them out. There is occaisionally one of these on eBay. The pre-out then goes into the NAD AUX. I think that would work well for you.
  3. I just got a pair of Forte II's from a local seller. The only problem is - they smell like smoke. This is objectionable to me, but I have always wanted some better speakers (I'm using KG2.2v's as mains) so I bought them. So... 1- does anyone know how to get the smoke smell out? 2- If this is impossible, then is there a smoker out there who would like to buy them? I live in Iowa. dan
  4. quote: Originally posted by jerohm: Could you spend $625, or even $845, on some brand new "in production" speaker today, that you would be satisfied with? If so, that is the path you SHOULD go. also consider resale. Many of us are continually "upgrading." Lets say you buy a pair of Forte's for $775 and a pair of new speakers. I bet in 5 years you can get a lot more for the Forte's than you can for the 5 yr old ones.
