  1. the thing is, that i had installed the viablue terminals in the lower section, as shown in the pic.... and there is not enough room left on the sides to it without having to scrap the side girders to make the 4" port fit....
  2. Hey Guys, as i am in covid quarantene, i have started to mod my Heresy 1's. I ordered the Eminence Delta pro 12a which will come tomorrow, so i now want to cut out the holes for the ports. now i face a problem that i have no room to put the port in the lower part. are there any side effects to expect, when i place the port centered between woofer & squawker, like in the picture below? Thanks in advance, Karl
  3. Hi All, as i am planning to mod my Heresys to ClaudeJs Super Heresy, i want to order the K42 woofer. The Klipsch rep. here in Germany now asks for the Klipsch Part Number, otherwise he is not able to order them for me from Klipsch. Does anybody know this number? should be a 6-digit number... Thank you in advance, Karl
  4. Hi All, As a friend of mine is a "Highend" guy, he can provide me with some speaker for test... Up to know i tested & compared the "Fyne F501" (F501 - FYNE AUDIO) and the "Pylon Sapphire 25" (https://www.pylonaudio.com/) with my good old Heresy 1 originals on a "FONEL Class A Hybrid" amp and an "ONIX DNA-50" amp. my subjective result is: Both speaker do not come close to the Heresys! Although the Pylon has a very pleasing character, that the Fynes lack, the richness in details and the fie tonal structure of my beloved klipsches are not beaten! The only thing is the bass perf from the Klipsch..... i read through Claude's fantastic posting about the "Super Heresy" and i am really excited.... I am really tempted to replace the woofer by the "Eminence Delta Pro-12A"..... So my questions are: - Will i get a 'Bass Boost" when i simply replace the original woofer with the eminence? - Or have i do modify the crossover too? (if i have to modify, can i get some specifics?) I cannot find the "flared port" tubes, suggested by Claude here in Germany.... - So does a plain PVC 4" x 4" tube do the trick too? Then, i also plan to replace the original caps on the "E" crossover - should go with Crites set & the Sonicap caps? - Or the "Dayton Audio DMPC-2.0 2.0uF" that Claude mentions (which are impressively inexpensive)? sometimes the high frequencies on my Heresies are a littel bit unpleasingly piercing esp. with the "Fonel" amp, which otherwise is so great in clarity, details & openness i never heard of... (but the low end, the bass is a little bit weak-ish) - will replacing the caps probably change something in that respect? here a pic of my setup with the fynes & the onix amp & Yamaha CD & streamer stuff. ( check esp. the custom risers for the klipsch ) Thank you in advance, Karl Tietze
  5. Hi All, I simply am looking at a subwoofer for my Heresy 1 pair. any recommendation? Thank you in advance, /*Karl
  6. Hi Andre, yeah, i dusted off that old box, but it still smelled. Now, it even stopped outputting anything to the speakers... I think, its time for a new amp.... Still looking around for such gear. i see Schiit's Ragnorok 2, or Yamaha A-S701, Marantz PM8006 on the other side....
  7. 42 years, wow! Thanks all. The Luxman is really tempting, but the price tag is beyond my budget... any recommendation for a decent solid-state amp that will drive the Heresys to their heights?
  8. Hi All, I am now the proud owner of my fathers Klipsch Heresy speakers, which i love since i heard all my music over them in the late 70s. And i still love them for their superduper sound! I just compared this ~30 year old pair with a pair of new "Wharfedale Linton", but sorry, dear british dudes, no way ... A very audiophile friend recommended me a highend tubeamp (Fonel Emotion Class A 2 x ~29W model, see http://6moons.com/audioreviews/fonel3/fonel_2.html) but this has proven a real mismatch! Although the openness and detailed richness of how the instruments get separated spatially & the 'airy' sound representation - excellent for Brain Eno's Ambient work, for all other purposes - that is stuff like Frank Zappa, Rolling Stones, Roxy Music, this combination is a catastrophe.... But plugging my dad's stoneold "Telefunken 9241 digital" (https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/saba_receiver_9241_digital.html) to the Klipsch, results in the right punch, a powerful dynamic duo (though no 'ligthness' and 'airy' feeling any longer) , besides that old brick gets hot and begins to smell when playing good old rock with decent intensity, So i probably will get a Yamaha 701 amp (to stay on the budget side of life).... my question is: - My beloved Klipsch are tagged with "HWB" / Serial# "74T853". So which year are they from and are they Gen I or II? And... How do the Heresy's compare sound wise in the line of Gen I / II / III / IV? Can any statement be made about a general progress "in sound" or is there a continuity and such judgement again is an individual taste thing? Thank you in advance. /*Karl
