I don't doubt it, and it's hard not to overindulge a little with these now that they're dialed in. They just do loud so well, especially moving from the JBL to the B&C, has a smoother top end I find at high volume. House plans for 2023 has a listening room designed into it, that's when I'll subject myself to some DIY MWM's.

It's measurable but you really only hear it without the EQ in the "I can listen to one song before OSHA shows up and shoves plugs in my ears" volume levels.

Little update to these guys, I have tried a few different measurements and settings and enjoyed most of them. However the settings I'm settled on lately that sound the best to my ear are fairly simple. They're the LS bass bin EQ settings that Roy released ages ago for use with the K69-A and K510 but with the 148Hz resonance mitigation moved to 174Hz and tamed a little as the 1" bass bin walls resonate a little higher and a little less aggressively. For the HF horn I'm simply using the three PEQ settings specified in the Klipsch Cinema Active settings document for the KPT-904-HF along with a lo-shelf to bring down the sub-2kHz response by 6dB and a hi-shelf to boost over 13kHz by 13dB. Measurements to come, but honestly, if they don't measure flat, the curve is what my ears like.

I'd love to have the opportunity to give the higher end JBL Synthesis stuff a try but there is zero used market in Canada and they are scary money for something I've never listened to before. From what I gather they're huge in Asian markets being used in the home instead of pro environments, in North America it seems pretty studio centric.

Is it true the Xilica XP series are discontinued? I've been enjoying my Ashly Protea but "upgrade-itis" or even "sidegrade-itis" is digging its claws in and I would like a bit more flexibility along with the ability to create files on my computer (my protea is a slightly older 3.24cl which was pre-USB interface). I also don't want to spend a fortune but used XP2040/3060/4080's don't seem to come up for sale in Canada very often. Wondering where people are sourcing their Xilicas basically.

Selling together, no interest at this time in splitting up. The horns are the ebay clones of K510's and included are some photos of them beside new k510's with mumps. They're slightly heavier and thicker than the real ones and are very (surprisingly) well made. The 2446h drivers have zero issues and I was using them up until recently in a two way setup with an LS bass bin clone, original titanium diaphragms. Hardware to attach the JBL to the K510 is a little tricky as two of the mounting holes can be tough to get to with the larger diameter bolts used in the JBL horns than the B&C ones Klipsch uses. I was running them with two out of four bolts holding them on with no issue (will include these bolts), getting shorter bolts and getting them in is possible, just never felt the need. Below are photos as well as a response measurement of the JBL 2446h vs the Klipsch K691 driver for comparative purposes. Will happily ship within Canada, could potentially be convinced to ship to the US for an enthusiastic buyer. Buyer pays shipping. Horns and drivers will be shipped in separate packages for the safety of the horns, drivers are approx 33lbs each. -$550 (Canadian, so...~$450 USD)

This is tragic! I would absolutely try to fix them if I was even in the same country.

That mid horn uses a 12" woofer with an 8" opening, KPT-XII and relatively rare, the HF horn is first gen K510 before the mumps, pretty certain those came with the P-audio sourced K-69-A drivers but I may be mistaken.

I think "daydreamed" is a more accurate descriptor than "thought". They're amazing drivers but like 001 said, close to $3k when all is said and done is out of my budget for now.

Have a set of '81 HBR H1's which were pretty rough looking when I picked them up. Made new rear panels with 5-way posts, re-sealed them, new midrange horn gaskets and a new veneer using white oak. Also threw some solid maple risers together to finish the look. Oh and rebuilt Type-E crossovers since I had all the parts laying around and selling the originals paid for the veneer.

I'm not sure what you're running for crossover with the K510/de75 combo but the above image is why you're going to think they don't sound right, it's measurements from 1m of a k691 (de75p 8ohm with a slightly modified diaphragm from what I understand) on a k510 clone (probably identical to yours) *the orange line, red is a JBL 2446h compression driver on the same horn. The K510 is (essentially, sort of) a constant directivity horn and as such you start to drop off above 3kHz pretty steeply (note above that you're about -8dB from 3kHz to 4kHz and then some bigger drops further up the frequency range, it is the nature of these types of horn and the 402 will do the same thing. Consider that to make up for this in a passive network you are attenuating the hell out of everything below 4kHz and that is why most people using these horns for that wide of a frequency range are using active parametric equalizers and shelf filters. Note they also have a gaping hole between 10kHz and 13kHz which is very audible which PEQ filters can smooth out. Here is some reading on constant directivity horns and why EQ is needed if you're into learning stuff. I can tell you right now, they sound like hot garbage with no EQ and they sound fantastic with it, what crossover are you using when you try the k510/de75? I feel like this will answer a lot of questions on the minds of people in this thread that have truly enjoyed that set of driver and horn that don't understand why you don't.

The Delta Pro's I ordered months back are still on back order so I sort of gave up at this point and in the meantime fell in love with the normal H1 sound, once they come back in stock I might move forward with it but not exactly suffering in the meantime. Also love how the rear panels turned out with the new veneer, mirrored offset terminals for when it's time to throw a 4" port in there.

It definitely wasn't disappointing the first time I put some power into them.

DSP is your friend.

The K510 is a 2" throat like the K402 so you would still need the adaptor. As for the Alnico magnet options, I know the early JBL 2" drivers were alnico, the 2441 apparently will do 500hz to 18khz. I have no experience with them though so can't say for sure if they would be a good option. Also if you ever feel like unloading your 4002's at a huge loss to an engineering student that barely has the budget to support his hobby let alone buy Be diaphragm compression drivers please let me know lol.

Didn’t get them straight from Klipsch as I’m up in Canada and just felt lucky to finally find a pair. Although now that I have two pairs and still have the JBL compression drivers I’m half tempted to find a pair of kpt-904 bottoms and do another set of needlessly large fun speakers. Did some quick DSP tweaking today but didn’t have my DAC handy as I loaned it to a friend for another project, also I’m holding off spending a ton of time perfecting the DSP until the tube amps are ready to mate up, so not final but definitely nice to listen to for now. also honestly, even if there wasn’t any audible differences the mumps just look cool as hell.

That's what I was expecting based on my readings, was planning to do some off axis measurements to compare. Honestly I'm not expecting any night and day differences with the mumps but it will be interesting to see how they compare. Also they look a little cooler in my opinion, which for some reason makes me happier about them haha.

Today was a fun day, the mumps K510's showed up. Unfortunately don't have the time today to swap them out as I want to do a few sweeps to compare them to the ZXPC clones without the mumps. Honestly mail day is just fun no matter what shows up, especially when it's a large and light box you've been waiting on for a month.

I'd say the k691's are a little less sibilant in the higher frequencies, especially when played at higher volumes. Not huge difference but that little bit of extra smoothness up top makes the detail feel more accurate. The JBL's are no slouch though and I'm half tempted to use them to make some three way DIY speakers with a tweeter taking over above 7kHz or so.
