Eight watts is not much power , it’s a level of power that will leave many systems prone to clipping, especially at any appreciable distance. Certain music and special effects can be enhanced to an exhilarating level of pleasure and intensity when played loud . We may not want to listen at the higher levels for long , but sometimes shear unclipped power is the secret recipe for delivering a moving and memorable experience . All things being equal ,power is a good thing ,as is the high efficiency that our speakers deliver .

We can rebuild them , we have the technology. We have the capability to make the worlds finest Heresy, better, stronger, and with lower bass . It might cost 6 million dollars, but what the H. 🤓

It’s a lot more difficult to buy speakers today , I remember years ago when audio stores had dozens of speakers set up and ready for A/B testing , that was the good old days . Back then the buyer could make an informed decision about what they were purchasing and the manufacturers knew that their products had to hold up to this scrutiny . Today many speaker brands benefit from the lack of meaningful comparison that was once common . On the other hand , the great speakers , like Lascala or Klipschorn , they are routinely overlooked by many enthusiasts , never to be heard , people just aren’t aware of the giant leap in performance , including the shocking live performance quality that truly sets these speaker's apart from the common ordinary stuff , it should be easier to demo the AL5’s that your interested in .

I’ve experimented with stacked Lascala’s for center channel , the top one upside down tweeter to tweeter . The vertical alignment with identical speakers made it difficult to detect any change in sound quality.

Is the legendary sound of the Klipsch Heresy worth it ? Yes , but it’s not so easy , because the RP 8000’s are also a very capable and beautiful sounding speaker . It comes down to personal preference and maybe how much you value deep bass. A lot of people don’t like the early bass cutoff on the Heresy , I don’t mind it so much , but many will prefer the deep low end of the RP’s . I find the Heresy to be slightly warmer and the RP slightly more detailed, both are truly excellent. Welcome to the forum 🤓

Actually just kidding around, but also making a point about speaker wire. I’ve never been able to detect the slightest difference in sound quality by swapping speaker wires , in fact I’ve even got a few splices and other wiring anomalies in my setup . My system has changed many times through the years and changing wires has never been a priority for me ,Im not worried about splicing a speaker wire if needed , some may cringe, but I’ve never been able to detect negative consequences , and believe me I listen for them . Some people may hear a difference with wires and I won’t judge them , maybe they can hear something that I can’t. But I am kind of suspicious to their findings 🤓

As good as the Forte’s are , they are not comparable to the Klipschorn , and unfortunately combining them will degrade/ compromise the Khorn sound. However , a Lascala or Bell at center will create a formidable three channel combination that is tough to beat. The ultimate front stage in my opinion. On the other hand , the Fortes will timbre match very well with the Khorn and overall play pretty darn good together, it’s just that the results could be significantly better .🤓

I think a lot of people confuse intermodulation distortion with the ringing of a underdamped subwoofer . A well designed low frequency DR can sound great , the Cornwall IV is a good example.🤓

I love bass horns, but the biggest benefits to them seem to be mostly absent in the 45hz and below range, I’m not alone in this observation. It’s no secret that a well designed DR with low excursion ( large surface area )and proper damping qualities can sound extremely good , and offer certain advantages in extension down low . I do agree that the ultimate solution may lie with the new Klipsch Hybrid vented designs , but very satisfying results can be achieved with a DR if thoughtfully implemented.

I’ll bet that I’ll bet you’ll system sounds fantastic, no doubt 🤓

Do you think that you can hear direct radiating distortion at 18 to 40 hz ? . A well designed , and properly sized DR will not degrade a system at the lowest frequencies 🤓

Nice Subwoofer , the proper hookup for the Rel 212/SX is to let the Klipschorn run full range , this according to the Rel instruction manual . This is a very good way to integrate a subwoofer to the mighty Klipschorn , full range allows this powerhouse speaker to play to its full potential with augmentation applied only at the very lowest frequencies 🤓

A fake Heresy is a lot like a fake Elvis , they may be fun for a few minutes, but they don’t perform like the real deal . The imitation speakers will sound different , maybe good ,but different . I believe that you should compare the two , judge them completely on their own merits, and not confuse them as being clone's, which they are not. The Heresy enjoys a stellar reputation, a famous respected brand , one of the company’s flagship products , a really nice speaker. Good luck , welcome to the forum 🤓

The problem is that the traditional “basic” folded horn design would require around 14 ft of length to reach 18 hz , kind of problematic. So typically a shorter horn is implemented and compromise is made . When the “short “horn unloads it will presumably attenuate , nature of the beast . Don’t get me wrong the UG in great , I’m just a big fan of the new Heritage Jubilee , and it’s engineering 🤓

Nice Review , I love the new bass horn on the new Heritage Jubilee , it’s innovative and effective. Some horn aficionados pay homage to the more basic designs, having always rejected the idea of anything direct radiator or vented . The irony of this is that with a traditional folded horn, which is typically shorter than optimal, it will revert somewhat to a direct radiator as the horn unloads , this is not a pure horn response, although excellent sound but attenuated. Forget the idealistic view of bass horn purity, it doesn’t exist in the real world. Klipsch uses the woofer back chamber in these new designs to augment an unloading horn. A brilliant design and execution. I’ll take the new version, an easy choice for me .

Yes , no doubt audible, very much so for Flevoman . I was impressed with the DSpeaker results graph. Maybe a middle /compromise position could work for him , but my point was just that there seems to be a very small acceptable range to work with here , very sensitive hearing I suspect. I’ve also acknowledged the aberration in response , so I would also be guilty of any wrong or misleading statements , I don’t think anyone had any of those . The thread just seemed a little cringeworthy at times ,going on and on about the flawed Lascala bass , that’s what I saw , as a forum member, I try to be a good ambassador to the brand , protect and promote. It’s difficult to find solutions without a problem. True the Lascala’s run a little hot in the 150 hz range, and the op does seem to be sensitive to this . But when this blip is removed and a very nice flat response has been achieved, the op then perceives a thin response, the exact opposite of the original problem, and all this happening within a 6 db range 🤷.In this case ,finding stereo satisfaction is not likely to happen , as the variation in recordings would far exceed the tolerance of the listener . Equalization is the right tool for this situation ,but several curves will likely be required depending on the recording . There is an implication that runs throughout this thread that a serious fault lies within the Klipsch Lascala , I don’t believe it , nor should you.
