  1. The TSA agent on duty at the airport is not likely to be an expert on the subject of magnetic interference or other issues concerning magnets on jet liners ,and because of this, general guidelines are used to determine whether the magnetic item in question gets loaded on the plane . The Passenger airline industry is geared towards getting travelers to their destinations safely and on time , banned items or questionable items are going to be a tough sell to a TSA agent.
  2. Magnets (powerful magnets)are considered dangerous cargo . E mail , FAA at , hazmatinfo@faa.gov. Good luck šŸ¤“
  3. Iā€™d like to experiment with two ceiling channels myself ( a new direction for me ), maybe this winter . My room may not allow enough distance to accommodate ceiling speakers , I like a fair amount of space between surround speakers and my ears , I imagine the same principle will apply here also . Good luck dropping down to two channels, give us a critique on your results, Iā€™d be interested šŸ¤“
  4. The smaller ones will undoubtedly sound fantastic ,but the bigger ones are more likely to match the output and the desired LF extension that Lascala deserves . Lower and more powerful will match Lascala best ,particularly with home theatre. There is a point where maximum subwoofer effect is reached in a system , itā€™s the point where adding a bigger one or adding another one will not improve the low frequency effect , itā€™s the point where more subwoofer will not increase the impact ,spl or the depth that you crave , this point depends on your taste for low frequency ,loudness and impact. Itā€™s the point of ā€œmaximum subwooferā€, one of these is right for you , but which one ?šŸ¤“
  5. The evidence points to bad tweeters .See if theyā€™re working , and While youā€™re at it , check the midrange . Itā€™s not likely a coincidence that you found a couple of replacement tweeters laying around .The owner seems to have been interested in changing out the original tweeters , so it is possible that various other changes have also been made to these speakers . Iā€™d offer to buy them and fix them , nice little project , probably a very simple fixšŸ¤“
  6. I believe that used heritage speakers are reflecting their true value . For many years they had been wrongly viewed by some as ancient , old school technology , but recently , people are taking another look , and showing renewed respect. Respect is what they deserve , as many benefits are to be found in these horn loaded speakers . . Competing manufacturers , tend to offer only paper cone ā€œtypeā€ drivers in their products , these type of speakers canā€™t fully compete with the many desirable characteristics that a good horn loaded speaker can deliver on. Many people are fine with paying a bit of a premium for the upgraded clarity (realism)dynamics and the efficiency that a good horn loaded speaker can deliver . Klipsch heritage is a unique item , finely built, made in USA , well worth their pricešŸ¤“
  7. A wedge similar to this will keep you from damaging the door and surrounding area when removing. The door may be stuck on like glue depending on what sealant was used , particularly if it was resealed at some point . This one was the original 37 year old seal , and came off easily . šŸ¤“
  8. You would want to use the tweeter that matches the crossover that you decide to use . Back to the non stock crossover and tweeter issue, I prefer the stock tweeter , but you may prefer the ct125 with its lower crossover point , after all Itā€™s a matter of personal preference . I would listen to them for a good long time , maybe someday youā€™ll find a stock set to compare with. You may very well prefer your own set. That would be awesome. Have fun šŸ¤“
  9. The original tweeters are excellent ,but even more important, they are also the perfect acoustic match to the other drivers . I would recommend returning them to stock. The ct125 tweeter changes the character of the Khorn šŸ¤·and to my ears in a negative way. Unfortunately as was mentioned above, the 4500 hz crossover isnā€™t compatible with the K77 , but , all that can be fixed . Stock Klipschorn is the way to go , trust PWKā€™s designs ,be suspicious of the snake oil salesman that promises improvements to this fine speaker .Congratulations , and good luck.šŸ¤“ 16 gauge is fine.
  10. Yes you will be missing much awesomeness by placing a less capable speaker at center .The best center for Klipschorn is another Klipschorn , or , Lascala/ Bell . Sure anything can be placed between a set of Klipschorns , but if youā€™re looking for the best possible sound , then the choice is clear . A three channel Klipschorn Lascala front stage is as good as it gets in home theater , youā€™re two thirds there right now , go for the home run , donā€™t get stuck on second or third base .šŸ¤“
  11. Sure , if if you have Covid, plus parasitic worms then Ivermectin would likely be an appropriate treatment. Do you really want to continue displaying your ignorance on the subject?
  12. Ivermectin was never an FDA approved treatment for Covid 19 , therefore it would not be considered an existing treatment. The use of Ivermectin lacked scientific evidence of being a beneficial treatment for Covid 19 as was hydroxychloraquine .So yes you are correct , thousands of ill informed patients died unnecessarily taking drugs that were ineffective ,whilst effective vaccines sat on shelves . Conspiracy theories and misinformation should not be tolerated during times of grave public health concern, but because of free speech that this great nation affords its people, much latitude was given to dangerous propaganda.
  13. Bose has done a masterful job of propagandizing the uninformed segment of the market, a brilliant strategy really . Most Bose owners are quite satisfied with their underperforming speakers . They assume that their Bose speakers are a high end product , and they arenā€™t likely to second guess their decision to purchase . Bose buyers are not audio enthusiasts or critical listeners, they are just buyers of a perceived high end brand , and thatā€™s important to them . Darn good marketing sells Bose . šŸ¤“
  14. I would bet that perfect harmony has been created with your setup , no doubt in my mind . šŸ¤“

    Fires ...

While Canada is experiencing its worst wildfire season ever and suffering much destruction and air pollution, many will blame these fires on arson, tree hugging or poorly managed forests. Others will point to the very hot dry weather as the primary cause of these fires , and will also point to the weatherā€™s probable relationship to climate change. Both arguments fall short of telling a complete story, solutions for these complex problems require scientific analysis rather than political talking points alone.

    Fires ...

    A terrible tragedy
  17. I donā€™t like weak spots either ,Iā€™ve tried hard over the years to eliminate as many of those as possible . Unfortunately , lots of people will be forced to make various compromise, take the guy with a pair of Heritage Jubileeā€™s , what if he decides to expand to multi channel , he will be faced with difficult choices, Will he add another Jubilee at center ? opt for a phantom center ?or maybe use a Lascala for center ? Thereā€™s only one ideal answer here , but probably difficult to implement . I think we all know what is theoretically best practice , but real world circumstances most often prevent the complete alignment of the stars . Many people find work around solutions to solve their problems and some are willing to share their stories , interesting stuff and makes for good conversation .
  18. Home theater sound is highly center focused , certainly not equally distributed throughout seven or five channels .Im sure we can agree that the front three channels are the primary channels , but of these three front channels, most if not all dialogue and a major portion of the on screen action, will be played through the center channel . The center channel is focused to the story presented on screen and is most vital, whether produced in phantom or as a discrete channel. The other channels provide us with surround sound. šŸ¤“
  19. One manā€™s fix is another manā€™s ruin . It takes specialized engineering and a keen sense of hearing to modify and actually improve these speakers . Most mods will degrade the sound quality , as in a tweeter swap from the above source . Words like ā€œupdatedā€ and ā€œmodifiedā€ are used loosely to imply that improvements have been made to the sound of their speakers , but have they really achieved that goal ?
  20. I think the older Heritage models represent some of the best values in home audio, particularly Lascala and Klipschorn . And if youā€™re lucky enough to find a used pair in excellent original condition, jackpot . These models will immediately impress you with their unparalleled scale and authority , they let you know that the big boys are playing the room , with a good recording, you become aware that something special is going on , and it is . The big powerful old heritage sound is still tough to beat . Sure the new models may benefit from various refinements, they most certainly will provide a flatter frequency response, but the old stuff still standā€™s strong with all the attributes that horn fanatics love . Many will find that the old classic Klipsch is a very attractive alternative to the new and improved stuff , just as many preferred the lovely Maryann over the supposedly more sophisticated and refined Ginger šŸ¤“
  21. Iā€™m driving an old set of Heresyā€™s with a beat up DVD player and little Lepai amp , best treadmill stereo Iā€™ve ever had , the speakers made the difference , and Iā€™m up to 3.5 mph šŸ¤“

    Asteroids and

Iā€™ll bet the little kids would get a big kick out of Barbie doll sized asteroids , the bigger kids would probably be more interested in IPhone sized asteroids . An asteroid the size of a Klipschorn would get my attention , that would be awesome šŸ¤“
  23. Just trying to add a little humor into the conversation. šŸ¤“ I have a friend that canā€™t do anything without permission from his wifešŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø , she gives him an allowance every week , 20 bucks šŸ™. Nicest guy ever. My wife and I get along really good , oh sure we argue about stuff now and then , we got into a heated discussion just the other day about her fascination with horn subwoofers , touchy subject in our household. I told her that Iā€™ll build one when I get around to it .Marriage is all about compromise šŸ¤“
