  1. Hi Everyone, I went through a couple of spekaer systems before I ended up with an Ref 3 system and eventually a Ref 7 setup. I grew so tired of the in your face speaker presence of the Klipsch. I tried external amps a different receiver and so on. I gave up and dumped the Klipsch and went to a Rockets set up 750s, the bigfoot, book shelfs fo surrounds and the surrounds for the back. They were surely laid back, jsut an estimate about 100 feet back. Live DVDs sounded like they were studio recordings, movies sounded ok but the impact and detail I heard in the Klipsch were gone. So what in the hell am I doing here in the Klipsch forum. Well, after not being able to enjoy music or HT I simply let the system sit idle for nearly 16months. In the 16months I fired up the system for about 5 hours. Not able to get a sound a sound that I thought was true I grew disgusted and walked away. Again why am I here? While on a busness trip in the phoenix area I met one of the SVS forum goers. We played a couple of hours of vairous music and movies and the sound was pretty good, something I had been missing. Havin BA the sound was pretty good but just a little less than the Klipsch of yesteryear. I felt the HT itch coming back. When I returned home I started auditioning speakers. Many sounded bland and some sounded good and some excellent. In keeping in my budget of $2200 the choices available were slim. My friend who was jsut putting his first HT together dragged to the local dealer that jsut so happens to have Klipsch. We went into the demo room and fired up the Ref7 setup. Ah yes, the sound I remember, I thought to myself. He turned to me and said now this iw what your place sounded like, Not like " ". (I promised myself I would not bash Rockets). Well, the Rockets went up for sale that evening. to say I simply unloaded them is an understatement. Off I went to hunt for Klipsch. Unfortunately the dealer around here was not able to meet my needs and I turned to ebay. For $2200 I was able to get 4 RB75s , and RC7 and a pair of RS7s. What are we missing NOTHING, ZILCH, NADA, etc....... Klipsch reference line provides a in your face sensation. Which in my eyes means it puts you in the action, first row center, in the same room as the actors and so on. have you ever watched a drummer hit a cymbal and you can't hear it? Surely not the situation with Klipsch. I realized I really like Klipsch, it took a while but I can appreciate what I hear now. Scott
  2. Hi How big is your room? Vaulted ceilings and does it open into another room? I have had a slew of SVS subs, PB10s, PC+2039s, PB12/2s, PCUs in many various configurations. Are you looking for Max SPL? If so look no further than the PB12+/2 great bang for the buck.. If you are looking for a sub that is equal to either task, music and movie Realms then the Ultra driver is the one. I feel the plus is great for movies and very good in music. Out of all the subs I have had I like the PCUltra best. Although it does not have the SPL that /2 subs have I opted to get 2 PCU. I am currently running RB75s and an RC7 up front with crossovers are 100HZ with dual PCUltras handling the bass. From my past experience with RF7s and PB12+/2 in the previous set ups I prefer what I am currently running. I have heard a PB12U/2 and it is sweet. I wish I had the room in my HT. If you email SV Sounds they might be able to mail you a sample of their veneer. Also, they will be able to give you the down and dirty between the + and Ultra. The www.hometheaterspot.com has a forum dedicated for SVS products. I would recommend visiting. Believe it or not they will most likely provided you with several other subs to look into. The people there are are of the same character of the people here "simply great". Scott
  3. I would not recommend watching Walk the Line, then. HUGE audio shifts. Scott
  4. Great to hear. I know Dean is busy is the forum the best way to get in touch with him? Thanks Scott
  5. As I have posted the Parasound halos need to go. But before I send them away I want to try something. Currently the Halo A23 is boxed up ready for a lucky buyer. Here is the question The A23 is a 2 channel amp. If I was to split the Front Channel pre-out and send each leg to its own amp then send one output from the amp to the LF and the other output to the HF would I necessarily hear a difference? thanks Scott
  6. scroll through this post mmiles might still have one http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/695498/ShowPost.aspx
  7. Hi Dean, Are you modifying Crossovers for the RB75 or RC7? Thanks Scott
  8. I was a cross over nut for 80hz. Then I tried 100hz and was amazed at the difference. Now the system is set up for 100hz. scott
  9. That is the best part of going ot teacher/parent night. Hoping the teacher will school me on paddling.
  10. I read this post shortly after it was posted and meant to reply. I am in the camp of using the sub as much as possible. Sometimes I listen with the sub off because I am too lazy to walk an extra 2 feet to turn on the sub. Other times the volume is very low so it doesn't matter if the sub is on or off. If the sub is not calibrated properly it can make the lows sound sloppy. Scott
  11. Wuzzer, How could you mistaken the sultry sounds of Klipsch with the one loosing ones virginity. I am not sure if you are correlating the topic to my intial purchase of Klipsch for my first real HT setup and not knowing what I was doing, to ditching the one that I shared special times with and going with another brand only to realize that Klipsch is the one I really love. Scott
  12. Hey Hope you enjoyed the superbowl. Yes I am still running the 49txi. I am waiting to see the next flagship receiver that I can drool over. Scott
  13. There is no doubt it was dropped somewhere along the line. It sounds like my last RC7 so I am not too worried. For the price I am not complaining. I would not have minded paying a little more to purchase them from a retailer but I was told by 3 dealers "We can call you when they come in" Ok I will sit but my phone waiting. I have what I wanted and I am very content. scott
  14. yes I have learned my lesson. Sometimes it takes a bigger hammer to knock some sense into some than others. Scott
  15. Hi Dave Yes the same seller, any insight on this particular RC7? Scott
  16. Hi Dave, Got all 4 today and the RC7. The RC7 has a small crease in the cone area, Haven't determined if it is affecting the sound. Everything was a 1 day ship. I think the FEDEx guy was more excited about getting them out of his van than I was receiving them. he helped me carry them downstairs and I offered him $20 for the help and he said you being home is my tip. I can tell you Godsmack sounds like they are in my HT. I have a very small HT and right now it is a 5.1 set up. The RS7s are definitely need to complete the setup. Its amazing how much rear surrounds complete the setup. With no sound coming from the back it sounds very empty. Soon this too will be fixed. In total I am very happy what $2000 bought me. Good stuff Klipsch..... Thanks for asking. Scott
  17. Not much really. I can tell you what is freaking awesome though. Going from this to that This Onix Rockets 750 sig, RSC 200, RS250MkII, RSS300 To 4 RB75 and an RC7. Still not as good as loosing your virginity but it is audio heaven...... sometimes you don't know what you have until its gone. Luckily I got it back, yeah baby. Scott
  18. Hi Everyone, Sometimes one just has to lie and what is worse is when you get caught indirectly. So, Earlier in the week I was thinking about working today for a little OT. But with FEDex requiring an adult sig for the RB75 and RC7 I rethought the possibility of working. My house is in the pre 9am drop off zone for the fedex ground delivery service. This is always a bonus. Yesterday I let some people know that the likelyhood for OT today was very low. I am sitting there admiring my new speakers when my pager goes off. "Alright your speakers have been delivered, you are not sick, get your @55 into work and on your way in pick up coffee" I used someone else computer to check the status of the speakers and it saved my fedex account data. Damn cookies scott
  19. The RC7 was returned, no biggie to me, I am over the it has to be new thing. when the lights are out and the movie is playing it is difficult for me to see any scratches.
  20. Hi Mike, Thanks, it pretty much stinks but I am hoping the new Klipsch set up will make me feel a little better :-) I am up for it. I have to see when the trial is going to be. Once I understand whats going on I will be able to determine if it will be May or September. Scott
  21. Hi Dave, I called Sue today and we discussed shipping rates and I dont want to disclose what the final dealings were but it made a second pair EXTREMELY attractive. Also, a got a pretty good deal on an RC7 too. I found an RC7 for $375 shipped. I am still looking for a pair of RS7s. I guess I will wait to sell the amps.... Scott
