  1. Original intent was to build the K Horn design cabinet. Edgar posted an article that had plans to upscale for an 18" CTS. With and lower response then could be able in the K Horn cabinet.
  2. So the 600 liter enclosure would be about 21.5 cubic feet if I did the math correctly. If ported it can get any low end without the need for huge amps. With some modifications to that box design I could fit it in the lower living room behind the couch. Now this is becoming a more feasible idea. Just one woofer in the cabinet to gain ultrasounding earthquake low end. A single mono amp of 100 watts would be about all since my receiver has a sub crossover built in.
  3. Okay so what I understand without having the engineers degree is I need two cabinets. One K Horn designs and the other to start earthquake and thunder rumbles. Will this upset the neighbors or anyone at Homeland or DARPA?
  4. Oh as far as wood working skills, yeah I do lack in equipment and skills. But I did marry into a family with brother-in-laws who are excellent at it.
  5. I mainly plan to use it for the low end. I have 4 Klipsch SF1s to cover the other range. My room and wife will not permit building the full 5way speaker.
  6. Is the driver a NPT thread? Or a straight thread? If you want to take a chance on one last try to repair here is an option. If the horn is a National Pipe Thread NPT yes cleaning it up and JB weld will work. Clean all the threads with alcohol then apply a thin coating of JB weld on the threads. The key part is it needs to be a thin coating since you're going to chase the threads once dry. A small local hardware store can help you rent or use a tap. Easy going in small turns in and back out over and over will rethread the horn. If you're unsure of thread type take driver into store and see if a pipe threads on easily. Pipe taps are tapered so the deeper you tap the larger the diameter it gets.
  7. I picked up plans to build a set of the early 60s EV Patricians. They used an 18" woofer rates for 18watts rms. I have a set of NOS CTS 18" woofers. Anyone know about how low they will go with a less efficient woofer? I should add these are the Klipsch K Horn corner cabinet design. That was used with the permission of Klipsch at the time.
