  1. I'm pretty obsessive about room acoustics and testing. I had the Heresies and sub very well dialed in before; since I've gotten the Cornwalls, I've been doing a lot more testing and experimentation to get everything optimized. I will say that within a day or two I had the Cornwalls dialed in to be at least as good as the Heresy/sub combination. Over the weekend I did a lot of work testing, repositioning and tweaking. As of yesterday the Cornwall setup was obviously superior, both to my ear and to the REW data. I'm very happy with the Cornwalls but nobody should sleep on the Heresies; they're very very good with a subwoofer.
  2. Thanks Andy. They do have the K33 woofers and the B networks. What are your thoughts on B vs. B2? I’ve considered upgrading them but I’m interested in people’s opinions on which is better.
  3. As a follow-up to my thread, I ended up getting a pair of 1977 Cornwalls and I’m very happy with them. I’ve been experimenting with room placement and I feel like I’ve really got them dialed in now; fantastic sound and my 18 watt Fisher X-100 can drive them to ear-splitting volumes if needed. The bass response is amazing- solid down to 30Hz in the room. Really happy with the purchase.
  4. That’s going to be hard to do. The guy lives an hour and a half away, and we’ll probably meet in the middle.
  5. Greetings all. I have a set of Heresy 3’s that I push with a Fisher X-100 amp in a fairly large room. The room is 18x20 and opens up to another room on one side. I’ve recently invested a lot of time and money into acoustic treatments, it’s a good sounding room. I also use a subwoofer but just to fill in below 50Hz. I have an opportunity to make a trade for some 1983 Cornwalls. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the CW’s but am I taking a step backwards in sound quality? Appreciate any direct comparisons.
  6. Thanks everyone. I also reached out to Klipsch customer service, and they confirmed that the top coat is a 40 sheen clear lacquer. Good to know that the veneer is thin, I'll go easy with the sanding. Based on past experience I'm pretty fussy about wood finishing and skeptical of "scratch remover" type products, especially if there is bare wood. Hard lessons learned from instrument repair. I did look into the Trade Secret scratch remover and it doesn't contain silicone or wax, so not as bad as some of the others. Still, I'm going to stick with satin lacquer for the first coat. And yes, I have a cat. Or no, I don't. It's hard to tell exactly.
  7. Greetings all, first post here. I recently acquired a set of walnut Heresy iii's in very good condition from the original purchaser. One one of the speakers, the finish on the top is spotty with some bare wood spots showing (see photo). The previous owner said that it was like that when he received the speakers. I've done a fair amount of woodworking and cabinetry, and it just looks to me like they used one too few coats of finish during production, or they put the speakers into the packaging before the finish was dry and it left an impression. It should be pretty easy to lightly sand the surface and apply another coat of finish, but I would like to use the same finish that the factory used for original production. Does anyone know what finish is used during original production? Specifics are helpful here- type (oil, polyurethane, lacquer, etc.) and brand. Thanks in advance.
