  1. Hi All, Since my Klipsch promedia 4.1 died, I made use of those 4 small satellite speakers and hook them up to my yahama receiver, now it's time to add a centre channel, brownsing through VANN's site, there are 2 options, 1.SC-1 for $139 2.rcx4 for $199 Please keep in mind that I'm planning to upgrade those small satellite speakers to klipsch bookshelf speaker someday. So should I be better off getting the rcx4? and what about sound quality and value for money? Thanks in advance for any input. Regards
  2. ahh,, thanks for that, stupid me, should've check the manual. Now that I know we australia use different voltage, so I've decided to get a denon receiver from one of the local store in australia, and the technical question is: Could I get all the speakers and the SUB from the U.S? Because all speakers and SUB are plugged straight into the receiver, so would there be any issue? because of the exchange-rate, it's much cheaper to get it from there.
  3. ahh, ok. so pioneer isnt a good brand? and what about Denon AVR-1508? a better product? because the downside is, the denon one doesn't have the "Subwoofer Preamp Out" feature like the pioneer one. would this make a big different for the sub? sorry for this kind of dumb question, because this will be my first set of HT and I'm trying to learn from it. So any input would be appreciated. 4. Hi all, Thank you so much for your input, so 1. Do all receivers have such an option as to "set them to small on the receiver, and cross them high"? Here is the Spec for my promedia satellite speakers Total System Frequency Response: 29Hz-20kHz Maximum Acoustic Output: 110dB Peak Amplifier Headroom: 4x60 Watts-satellites Satellite Impedance: 4 ohms minimum 2. It would be even more helpful if anyone could kindly read the following spec and indicate whether it is suitable for my purpose and does it has the feature mention above? this is the spec from: PioneerVSX817S Dolby Digital 5.1/EX/Pro Logic IIx, DTS 96/24/ES Discrete 6.1/NEO:6, WMA 9 Pro Decoding770 Watts Total Output (110 W x 7 Channels (1 kHz 0.9% THD @ 8 Ohms))3 Component Video In/1 Out2 Coaxial, 2 Optical Digital Audio InDiscrete 5.1-Channel Input3 S-Video In/2 Out, 3 Composite A/V In, Headphone OutFreescale 180 MIPS Digital Signal Processor14 Advanced Surround Modes, Including Virtual Surround BackDialogue EnhancementPreset Remote ControlMCACC Auto Room Set-Up With 5-Band EQSirius Satellite Radio ReadyXM Satellite Radio Ready (XM-HD With Neural Sound)192KHz/24-Bit Audio DAC, 96 kHz/24-Bit Video DACPioneer Hybrid Amplifier DesignLarge Banana Speaker Terminals (L/R/C/LS/RS/SBL/SBR)Front A/V InputsSound Retriever For Enhanced Portable Audio PlaybackSubwoofer Preamp OutSpeaker A/B (B Speaker Or Bi-Amp)AM/FM Audio Tuner With 30 Random Preset StationsSR (Smart Remote) Terminal OutputBasic Phase Control Bass Management System7-Channel Stereo7.1-Channel Audio Pre-OutputAC OutletMidnight Listening ModeSleep Timer4-Step Fluorescent Display DimmerOn-Screen DisplayDimensions: 16.56" W x 6.25" H x 13.88" DWeight: 20.25 lbsGreately appreciated for any input. 5. Hi all, My Promedia sub just died recently and I'm planning to move toward HT. Due to budget restriction, I'm planning to first buy a receiver and a sub and hook up all my satelite speakers, So the question is, would these saterlite speakers work with any receiver? I'm considering: Pioneer vsx917vk http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/details/538398921 Denon AVR-1708 http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/details/538499894 Yamaha RX-V661BL http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/details/538499878 Any input for this new learner would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Hi all, I was watching movie and suddenly heard a pop sound from my sub and the sound instantly disappear and the light on the satterlite speaker was off. Can't turn it back on anymore. Could anyone please suggest what might be the problem? Could it be that the fuse is broken? because it looks completely white so I can't tell whether the fuse is broken. any help would be greatly appreciated, miss my speaker so much, can't afford another set. Regards
  7. thanx alot MD, i found the problem. =) just that, one of the wire isn't clip probably, so didn't know it will affect the sub. now it's back to normal, but abit louder than before with new cable. =)
  8. hi all, i've been having my promedia for about 3 years now, i'm so proud of having it and love it so much and now it's dying. i'm not so sure what is the problem. after replacing the normal cable with the monster one in hope of getting a better sound, it turns out to be a grief. it works ok at very low volume, but once i turn it up abit, the sub will make some ridiculous crackling sound, as if it's about to crack open or something. i'm so worried now, i know i have no more warranty, so what choices have i left with?? anyway to fix it?? is it a known sub problem?? or are there any good unit to replace it?? i just love listening to music and can't live without a good set of speakers, but can't affort home theather yet. =( btw i live in australia and i know that klipsch already discontinue producing klipsch for us. so there is no way of getting 5.1, i can get it imported from U.S. but then we will need to use a converter which will void the warranty as mentioned by klipsch. so,,,,,so sad. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. umm,,,,,so you saying any sub would do the job? coz i'm worried that, some sub might not be compatible with this 4.1 set and dunno where to plug it in. so i dun really know much about sound. =) would you elaborate it more on how to set it up? if i'm about to get a better home theather sub to add in. and btw. here is a new idea. coz i just got a logitech z560 from my friend. and now, i'm thinking of how to hook it up. so any of you got that combination before? and what you reckon? will they work fine together? or just making the situation become worse? p.s my sound card is hercules game theather xp 5.1
  10. this is how to make your own cable. http://www.soundwise.org/mods/cablemod.htm btw, i got this link from soundwise.org check it out. it's a pretty cool website. and in response to your main question, i'm having that problem too, would love to upgrade my 4.1, but not sure what to get, planning to get another 2.1 to add it on. but don't know how to hook it up and not sure if it's worth to price. =) p.s i've got GTXP, anyone got any idea on how to hook it up? so stay in touch with the topic guys.
  11. thanx guys. i've got the link in regard to how to make the cable. =) and btw. how do you combine a 2.1 and 4.1 to become a 7.1? isn't that only 6.2? and how do you set it up? 2 sub combine together. 2 sat combine to make a center sat. and 2 front sat + 2 rear sat?
  12. hi, not so sure why would i need the monster cable for? just to extend the cable right? any other benefit? so if i have a choice. 1. getting another 2.1 set and monster cable. or 2. getting that PM SWS and monster cable. which one would you recommend? or just be better getting both? =)
  13. hi people. i've got a 4.1 at home for about 2 years. and now would love to upgrade it to the next level. but not sure what would i need to get the most out of it. just adding another 2.1 set? or you guys got any better idea? i saw on other's people setup with another sws. so what would you benefit from that? and how to set it up? or should i just sell this 4.1 to a friend then get a 5.1 instead? so would love to know the best upgrade for it. thanx in advance for any input.
  14. hi, I currently have a 4.1 klipsch, and want to upgrade it to 6.2 by getting an extra 2.1 set. so in here i would some suggestions, should i upgrade? and is this worthy? does it really make big different? thanx in advance.
