  1. 4 k-horns , 2 Lascala's , one belle , 2 cornwall's and 2 subs shoe horned into a 24 x24 room .... being a fanatic would mean selling my existing house for one with a larger music room
  2. Prep is simple , all your after is mechanical adheasion, so 240 - 180 grit on wood will give you plenty of tooth to grip any 2 component primer ... Once you sand out the primer you can go as fine as 320 to recoat with primer if needed . Finish sanding with P400 dry or 600 wet will give you a nice base for the finish to be applied ... Wet sanding the clear coat with 1200 - 1500 grit to knock off texture , dirt, etc will facilitate a flattened out finish suitable for power polishing to a gleeming finish ... be extra carefull when polishing near edges , you can and will burn through the finish if your not carefull . Dale
  3. Never mind the dog post .... The best part of this thread is seeing all the old friends that i've lost touch with over the years .... Wow , how this forum has changed in the last 10 years .....
  4. I was an automotive refinisher for 25 years and have walls covered in show car throphies... I've also been a klipsch restorer for almost as long . My advise if your going to " Rub out " any finish on wood is to watch the " heat " generated when polishing . You'll raise the grain which will appear in the finish more like a craze or crack . I've done 100 of guitars and drum kits over the years . MDF is very stable to finish in automotive Arylic Urathane but plywood is a crap shoot ...
  5. Excess carbohydrates ..... Do you know how to build a sumo wrestler ? They eat rice and then sleep , repeat - repeat - repeat That will put on fat which is weight , to build muscle you must show the body a load that it does not see regularly so it will change to accomidate seeing that load again ( very basic description ) but once you have new muscle you have to eat properly to keep it . You can't eat like a 135lb and be 150lbs , that extra muscle needs protien to survive and if you do not show it protien from your diet then it will turn apon itself and get the protien from your existing muscle which as you can see is very conterproductive to growing . You need 22 essentail amino acids to build muscle , if one or more is not present then the body will steal the amino acid profile it needs from existing muscle to repair the damaged tissue . A good way to ensure all 22 are present is something called protien combining --- thats where you eat protien from 2 different sources at every meal . Like egg's and chicken together , or beef and beans etc etc etc . One extra protien shake per day never hurt anyone either and they all have a good amino profile to them and about 30 -35 grams of protien per scoop . My breakfast is 8 oz of egg white , 8 oz of 2% milk and 1 scoop of whey protien powder ... then i eat 2 cups of oatmeal and 1 cup yogurt at 10:00
  6. Canadian dude ...... I workout at body quest on 50th street every weekday from 1:00 till 2:00 .... weekends off ( i work just off 50th street on 76 ave so it's close ) I live just outside Fort Sask and sometimes can be found at the Dow Centenial Center in fort sask as well , my wife is a fitness leader and she teachs 10 or 12 aerobic classes a week there . I train some people out of that gym so try not to work out there myself as i constantly get bombarted with questions . When i use to compete i trained at a gym downtown called Mr C's ( named after Mr Canada ) but it's since closed . I don't have the genetics to turn pro and i'm not willing to take the chemical pathway thats needed to survive in the game at that level so i just keep in shape now and help others with there fitness goals . I do some sport specific training as well , mostly dryland training for hockey .
  7. Gonzp ....... One has to keep in mind that cardio work is to increase the size of the left ventrile in the heart thus lowering the resting heart rate . Cardio work does very little to actually change the physical shape of the body , doing cardio makes you better at doing cardio , just like doing aerobics . If aerobics are so good then why do you see all these aerobic instructors with rear ends like a Mac truck , basicly it's because there bodys have adaptived to the demands of the cardio so now there is no reason to make a physical change . My beef with cardio perscription is the undo load it puts on the joints of unfit induviduals . If your a 220 lbs female who's natural body weight should be 130 lbs then you joints are constructed to handle the loads of a 130 lbs person and not a 220 lb'er . Thats why there is so much injury during exercise for unfit people who undertake the wrong type of exercise perscription at the begining . My way is gaining muscle first which will stabalize those joints once impact type manouvers are introduced ... see thats why alot of people quit is becasue they are hurt or soar and thats because of the above mentioned . I don't follow the calories in VS calories out theory ... basicly if you have to walk 10 miles to burn off a can of coke , it's much easier not to drink it in the first place . In other words i don't wear people out on threadmills and elipticals attempting to burn off what they have ingested . I build them more muscle which will do that all by itself because it needs to be fed to survive . As far as a routine .... i'm sure we could colaborate on something , i'll check my library tonight and see if you can get hold of copies of a few books i have that more so show the exercise and it's proper execution then a routine per say . Following the correct line of pull and doing exercises properly is where a personal trainer will shine ... I see more wasted effort in the gyms then forward progress because alot of men are to subborn to accept guidence in this area and find it some kinda stupid pride thing that i don't understand for the life of me . If your not mechanicly inclined you would'nt pull the transmission from your car and tear it apart yet you'll march into a gym and totaly wreck the one body the good lord gave you ... makes me shake my head . You don't have to work hard , you have to work smart ! 70 % of how you look is from what you eat and your eating habits ... the remaining 30 % is the type or style of methods you incoporate in your training , like endurance , strength , or hytrophy ( which is body building ) I'll check back in tomorrow ......
  8. As a certified personal trainer and former BB I'll tell you all first hand that " All Diets " eventually fail ! If you plan on going on a diet that means you also plan on coming off it and thats where the failure will catch up in spades . Deprive the body of something and it will hold onto it like gold next time it's introduced , thats why 90 % of people gain back huge amounts of weight after dieting . Lifestyle changes are the only thing that will ever change you ..... Any and all diets will work ... at least for the short term , those who are in the worse condition will see the most results the fastest because they are the one's in need the most . Making it past the 6 week point in the key , the body is an adaptive mechanism and will not change homostasis unless there is a reason to do so ... As hard as it is for most of you to believe ... you have to eat to loose weight , most people i train eat way more volume of food then they ever did before and still loose fat . The key is what your eating and when , 6 to 8 meals a day is a must , all small . Kick starting your metabolism into high gear and turning yourself into a blast furnace . Most people can't eat everything i tell them to because they feel way to full yet they are loosing weight feeling stuffed . An example would be 1 cup of corn is the same as eating an entire head of broccoli --- which one is going to make you feel fuller ? Naturally the broccoli , plus your brain gets the stimulation of you chewing for 5 minutes instead of 20 seconds to eat a cup of corn . The key is in resistance training , changing the ratio of muscle and fat in the body , muscle is metabolicly active and needs calories to survie , fat does not . Would you rather be 180 lbs with 24% body fat or 180 lbs with 10 % body fat ? both bodies are 180 lbs but they will looks totaly different . I'm 232lbs @ 5' 10" and 11 % body fat --- put someone 232 lbs with 24 % body fat beside me and they will have a gut the size of a beachball . Making a change in your body means making a change in your bodyfat ratio ... don't get hung up on the scale becasue a pound of muscle is a lot more dense then a pound of fat . Just think of how much space a pound of feathers will take up compared to the space a pound of brick will take up . Same thing , a pound of fat occupies more space then a pound of muscle . Keep your motivation close to you ... don't give in to temptation The biggest advise i can offer is pre-make all your meals for the week and put them in the fridge on sunday night ... a sure way to jump off a diet plan is going to the fridge for something to eat when your hungry and having to prepare it ... you'll always go for the quick and easy which will always be the wrong choice BTW : Hydoxycut is over priced garbage Glad to hear your taking steps towards better health ... keep the faith
  9. feb 9th 1964 .... " I want to hold your hand " by those grease balls from across the pond
  10. There is nothing like having a stack of RB-1090 in the house ... LOL Well beside the fact you can't stack them because they weigh almost 100 lbs , these bad boys actually come with casters built into the bottom at the rear so you can have a fighting chance of rolling one into a audio cabinet [] Try a 15 x 19 room with 4 k-horns and a pair of RB-1090 Rotels ... if thats not enough to make your ears bleed then throw in a RB-993 running a Belle Center and a pair of Lascala's flanking the side walls ..... and just for good measure we can't forget the 2 klipsch subs
  11. looks like an acoustical nightmare ... LOL
  12. Pat Roy = ***** The real " hacks " with tempers were Billy smith and or Ron Hextall , both would pound that skinny frenchman into next week . Smith was " MENTAL " no if's and's or but's about it and " Hack-stall " was just plain crazed !!!
  13. Ok let me rephrase ... LOL Not alot of hockey wives are intrested Yes we do have the 3 glass pyramid's so your correct ... what your a little off on is the " little city part " , although the population is only a million the area of the city is larger then many with 10 times the population . For instance Toronto has 3 million residence but occupies almost half the square km as edmonton . Edmonton also has the most park land of any city in north america , now thats a stat i'm sure no one was aware of . Open space is the name of this country though .... Like we're larger then the united states but have a population less then the state of california , which is fine by me , i hate traffic and line up's [au] .
  14. In all the years i've hung my hat around here it's not often i see a local boy ... As for the oil .... Don't hold your breath this year , but if they can hold onto to some of those rookies .... !! could be a killer group down the road . Biggest problem with edmonton is they are a development club , just look at the stars that have gone through that organization and moved onto to become some of the leagues best . Unfortunatly being the most northernly city in the NHL , not alot of players want to call this home , can't really blame them .
  15. I'll be suprised if Detroit even makes it out of their conference ...... But stranger things have happened
  16. Funny how you can never find a belle when your looking for one " but " the second you do find one they magicly appear ... 4 klipchorns , 2 La scalas and a single Belle are about as much as i can jam into one house !
  17. Gas at $3/gallon ..... Ya i wish , thats cheap , try paying $1.19 or so per litre and see how you feel . I just came back from the rockies where we found gas on good old hi-way 11 ( the david thompson pass ) for $ 1.35 per litre , try filling a 80 litre or 100 litre tank at those prices then run up and down the mountains where the air is thin as piss .
  18. Yes sir ... definatly the end of an era for detroit fans , stevie was a class act as well as a hockey talent . Hopefully we'll see his return to the NHL in another form , it's hard to completly walk away from the game . Up here in edmonton we just got rid of pronger to the ducks for Joffery lupul and picks ... Rumour around town is chris was pounding a local sports caster and knocked her up to boot , it's no wonder his wife wants him out of edmonton ... What a piece of excriment
  19. Hey picky .... Any word on what steve is doing next season ???? I know he has to retire some day , but i think he still has the talent to keep playing if he can stay healthy . You likly hear more in detroit then we do up here , any word ? I live in Fort Saskatchewan , so this is home for Ray Whitney and Mike commador so i'll be getting my picture with my 7 year old boy and the cup real soon . If you read my prior posts on hockey topics you'll remember Ray use to live next door to me . Being a small community of less then 14000 means everyone pretty well knows everyone else .... I think joffery lupal ( also a fort boy ) and richard mathmichuck are planning on coming home to welcome back ray and mike . Do you remember a guy named al peterson ? he was ray bourques defence partner the year they lost the cup in the final before ray was trade to the avalanche . Another fort kid that i went to school with . For a small town we have a ton of kids go to the show ... this is really a hardcore junior staging area , cam ward is from sherwood park which is olny a 10 minute drive south of fort saskatchewan as well . Some of these guys i've coached and played with ........
  20. Ya ... the series could have went either way , it's really a shame that rolly got hurt in the first game , he got the oilers to the final round with some termendous goaltending . For the caines fans who don't buy into the importance of the goalie in the playoffs then imagine what this series would have looked like if it were cam ward who got hurt in the first game instead if rolly . No team goes deep into the playoffs without a goaltender who's jacked ... Fricken jussi has been useless all year and not played since march and gets throwen into the cup finals . I'm a season ticket holder so i've watched him play all year , we aquired rolly at the trade deadline for a reason ... lol No excuses ... Thats just hockey , sometimes you have to be a little lucky and get the right bounces other times you can do everything right but nothing goes your way . Neither team will look the same next year , glad to see some of the oldtimers get ther ring before they're put out to pasture .
  21. Any klipsch members live in carolina going to the game tonight ????? Man i'd give my left nut to make it down there tonight ,,, gonna be a barn burner for sure
  22. For the most part they are know to be power hungry so nothing a klipsch owner could relate to very much .... My best friend has a quad of there flagship models and drives them with a stack of big NAK-PA5'S or PA-7'S ... I can't remember which is which right now but they are the big stassis nak's that are the size of a microwave . These kick some major *** and have some nasty volume levels to boot but the price is out of my reach at this point in time .
  23. The CBA made this all possible ... I'm not a drum beater so .. past conquests are just that We have cup history here , i think this team is hungry and willing
  24. And another 6-3 victory ..... Series is starting to get intresting The booing was a bit much .. but the hockey was a goaltending battle Onto game 6 ........
  25. Good game last night ... very late getting home after all that overtime I'm sure watching it on TV would have been difficult to pickup on the speed and incredible goaltending on both ends but i guess it makes up for it in replays and commintary ... Friday nights game will be an intresting one now that both teams have figured out one anothers system ... seeing edmonton take the wide side last night left the front of san jose net open a hundred times ... it's hard to match the outside speed of a forward when your backing up as a defencemen . Last nights speed really cut down on the picking that went on in the first two games .. one has to realize edmonton has the fastest ice in the league so you can really fly if you have the legs ... up here it's cold and dry which makes extremly fast ice . After San Jose went ahead last night and started shutting the game down in the second and begining of the third with all that nutral zone trapping traffic made for some very unentertaining hockey to watch till the game got tied .. they almost got out of the third with the lead and the win Reminded me of Dallas and how they used that system under hitchcocks ruling ... I'm sure both coachs will be watching game tape today trying to decide how to approach fridays matchup
