  1. My Preference is for SET amps. Low Power. First choice 45 amps. 2nd choice 2A3 Amps.
  2. Rudy, there is also a recent thread on Bert's Forum about Copying his Horns. Have you seen it? BTW - I have my Oris Orphean Horns up and Running. Have you heard the Orphean System yet?
  3. They did not have Oris but Sousa horns . I was soliciting comments from those who heard oris and can give their opinion on the Sousa s What kind of Horns are you currently using? Are they the Red Ones in your avatar?
  4. I just took delivery this week of this Teac DAC. I had my eyes on it the last 6 months. Finally available in the States! Volume Control works for Coaxial Output, so can be used instead of a Pre-amp. Friendly impedance. Great Build Quality.
  5. Here is a free one if you have an Android Phone or Tablet. Works Great ! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.sira.sound&hl=en
  6. How did you determine that this was your 'problem' ?
  7. Get an SPL meter and actually measure the DB level at your listening postion. That will tell us a lot. I live in a Twin Home in a HOA around 1 Cul-de-Sac. I listen at levels that reach the upper 80 dbs. Maybe some peaks of low 90s. Any louder and you can damage your hearing. I keep my windows closed downstairs in my 'Man Cave'. Either my heat is on or my A/C is on. Your house stays cleaner this way also. When I go outside, I can barely hear anything standing next to the house. I have never had a complaint, and I doubt my neighbors have heard anything at all.
  8. Squeezebox Touch here.... I use Spotify with a Custom Plugin written by a SBT User named Triode. I have Full Access to over 20 Million Tracks.
  9. From what I've heard the Bose Sound Link III or II is the best sounding portable Bluetooth speaker. Has anyone heard a Portable Bluetooth speaker that they think sounds better than these? I need a Portable Speaker to take with me to the Bahamas next winter. I have an aversion to Bose, just because of the Name. I'll buy one, if need be, though.
  10. Fjd...... This is not a Legal issue. It's just 'good faith' dealing. This vendor does not deal in good faith and therefore would not get my business. I never planned on consulting an attorney, and I'm sure none of the people that hid their re-stock fees did either.
  11. Did you buy yours at HiFi Heaven in Green Bay Wisc?
  12. I don't have a problem with a firm charging a 20% re-stocking fee, as long as they don't try to hide it with 'Fine Print'. Saying you have a return policy with 'Money Back' is not the same as saying you have a return policy with 80% of your money back. I am not the only one, as I have read their feedback. Here is their snarky reply to one of their customers. It may be clearly stated, but it is imbedded in a chunk of very fine print. The only thing that they are 'clearly' doing is trying to hide their re-stock fee. Return policy deceptive. I have to pay 40 bucks to return these ear buds. Buyer: s***s ( 65) Nov-14-13 16:08 Reply by hifiheaven-net (Nov-15-13 08:51): Deceptive?? Its clearly stated under returns on all listings.
  13. The reason I ask, is that these guys don't seem like 'Nice Guys' to me. Or am I wrong? I am looking at a new recently released DAC and would like to buy one, with a return policy in case it falls flat in my system. So I see this e-bay add that claims 'Money Refunded' if returned in 14 days. I get ready to 'pull the trigger' and buy one, and then I read the 'fine print' in the return policy and see a mention of a possible 20% re-stocking fee. So, I send the seller an e-mail asking if this is true. I get a response saying 'Only if I 'Open the Unit' would the fee be 20%. Now I wonder if the seller means 'Open the shipping box' or actually 'Open the Unit' by removing the Chassis Cover. So, I ask for clarification and basically get told that if you open the shipping box it will cost a 20% re-stock fee. But, But, But..... If you don't open the Box and Pay for return shipping, the re-stock fee is only 15% !!! I am going to look for another seller........ Are these guys really the A** Holes that I think they are? Here is the Ad.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEAC-UD-301-Black-USB-32bit-192kHz-DSD-asynchronous-DAC-balanced-outs-UD301-/121352588998?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c412d8ec6
  14. I have a Rel Strata III in Rosenut, Mint condition. that I will be selling soon. Do some research on the Rel Strata III. They are supposed to be a 'very musical sub'. They list for about $1200, I will be selling mine for about $650...... If you are interested e-mail me.
  15. I went with the 'Orphean System' which comes with the Drivers and Crossovers. From the Oris Website.... BMS 4592ND/8 (the pair)BMS 4592ND/8 Modified, matched as pair and prepared for use in our Orphean system curing some inherent problems from the stock BMS drive units resulting in cleaner and less resonant output. These drive units can also be used within other applications and other horns than the Orphean suitable to adapt 2" co-axial compression drivers. The Orphean MkII crossover can then not be used as these are designed specificly for use in combination with the Orphean.
  16. Those Subs are huge !! .... They must have shook the foundation of your house ! Did you ever have your Orpheans Painted ? Or did you leave them as they came?
  17. Justin, You are certainly welcome to my place anytime, if your travels take you through Minneapolis. I had a lot of help from Dean G in rigging up the Crossovers!!
  18. So, I am really getting engrossed in this thread, and then I check the age of it and it is 10 years old. So, now I am thinking all of the posters opinions have changed and I wondering how this got bumped to the Top.
  19. Beek my man, Who ever said you WILL BE content Previous experience tells me this is the impossible dream This hobby is all about not being content !
  20. Joe, Since I started using music streaming services, I have no desire to buy music anymore. So I guess my answer would be speakers. Which I did this spring with the Oris Horns. There are over 2 MIllion tracks on Spotify. I sit down usually every afternoon and listen to a Mix of tunes picked by Spotify. I get exposed to new music this way and stuff that I would not otherwise listen to. While I almost never buy music anymore, I attend a lot more small venue Concerts such as the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. My next speakers are the Oris Swing. I may 'reward' myself when I hit 70 down the road.
