  1. OK. Here is the situation. I have 2 B&K 5000 5 channel apps. Mk1 & Mk2. And a B&K ST2140 2 channel amp. I am currently running a 7.4 surround system using a receiver w built in amplification that I bought in 2012 and never changed it out. I have always wanted to run a separates system as I’ve heard they were higher quality sound wise so I figured I have 12 channels to play with. I might as well use the mk2 with the x5 channels of 125 watts for surrounds/rear surrounds/ center and use the other av5000 mk1 channels 1&2 to right my right front & channels 4&5 for the left front Klf20. Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the klf20s setup so if I remove the jumpers then I would have 105 watts going to the tweets and mids and the other 105 going to the two 10” woofers? Let me know if that sounds correct. thanks rich
  2. Yes Bi-amping. Why is it not worth it? Do you not get more head room maybe more volume or anything?
  3. Is it better to single amp my main L&R s with 140 watts per channel to each speaker or double amp them with 105 (x2) for each speaker. Trying to figure out how to configure my 7.4 system. Klf20s R&L fronts klf-C7 center, klf10s surrounds and ksf-C6s back surrounds. Any thoughts would help thanks rich
  4. Added new fluid to my Heresy IIs when I swapped out the Ti diaphragms. Didn’t seem to hurt and the Ti diaphragms sound a bit more open.
  5. Ok thanks for the info. Already upgraded to Ti Tweeters and the woofers and mid still sound amazing so no need to do this upgrade. thanks rich
  6. I currently have a KSW – 200 matched up with a pair of Heresy IIs in my library running my 2 channel stereo just for music. I am running a Marantz AV550 through two channels of a B&K AV5000 mk2. Everything sounds good to me. My question is… is a modern R-12SW a better sub than the ksw for this setup? I happen to have an extra R-12SW cuz I upgraded to 3 HT1205s in my theater room. Not sure if the ksw is a better match cuz of the paper cones or if a newer R-12SW is just better all around. Also anyone know how long the ksws last? it’s about 25 years old already so not sure if I should just upgrade it for that reason. Any thought would be appreciated thanks rich
  7. I haven’t added any fluid into any of the magnets when replacing the diaphragms with Ti ones. Just wiped a little fluid from the old diaphragms didn’t seem like enough to add more in. Used all speakers for a week already and everything seems fine. Everything sounds great. I’m going to swap in the Ti squawkers/mids today and see how they sound next. thanks for all the feed back rich
  8. I didn’t swap out the Mids/Squakers in the klf20s yet, just all the tweeters. I’ve heard that the Ti Mids do have a bit of overlap with the tweeters when swapped in. I’m going to try them out Tomorrow and see how they sound to me. Some people say they love them some people don’t. I’m gonna give them a listen then I might buy the band pass filters and throw them on and see what they sound like with those. To be honest, just changing out all the tweeters made a noticeable difference and sound and they sound pretty good even with the stock mids in them right now. Nice thing about these things is that they are easily reversible if you don’t like them. I’ll see how it goes tomorrow. thanks rich
  9. I just swapped out all my diaphragms to Ti in my KLF20s & KLF10s. Should I add a little ferrofluid to the gap in the magnet? How do I know if I need to add some or do I need to replace it completely? Just trying to do some preventative maintenance. Any info would be great. thanks rich
  10. Anyone? No? Lol!!! Guess I’ll just give it a shot…..
  11. I currently have a 7.2 surround system with Klf20 fronts, Klf10 surrounds, Klf-C7 center, and ksf-s5 rear surrounds w/Ksw-200 subs. The ksf - s5s seem to break up at higher volumes. I have a couple of ksp-C6s that I was thinking of using as my rear surrounds. Any thoughts? They are rated higher at 150 watts continuous vs 100 for the ksf-s5s. Any thoughts??? thanks rich
  12. I need a swap or repair of a ksw-12 amp. Can you message me with info. thanks rich
  13. Do you know how to get a hold of Klipsch Parts? Couldn’t find an email on their site??? thanks again. rich
  14. Thanks 001 for the info 👍 And thanks jjptkd for the find. I hope they fit my boxes cuz I just bought them …. Lol. Been looking on EBay for midrange horns for KLF20s but didn’t know the name so nothing was coming up. So CF-2 is the name of the horn portion? Sorry like I mentioned I’m new to the restoration hobby and just learning about all this. I’ve been back and forth with Michael Crites about the mid drivers and I think the next upgrade might be his A-55G/2 drivers as the Ti diaphragms have been on back order for over a year and no expected date in sight. Just not sure my 50 year old ears will tell the difference to justify the extra $600 upgrade. 🤷‍♂️. Thanks again for all the help guys. Rich
  15. I know this is an old post but do you still have the pair of Crites for sale and are they both working properly?
  16. I believe the part number is KLP-127122? I’m assuming they will fit my drivers since they look identical to the ones in them now. I read that somewhere that this is a worth while upgrade. I already replaced the diaphragms in the tweeters in my klf20s and my Klf -C7 with the Ti diaphragms. It made a huge difference in the center channel C7. But I’m not sure if my ears pick up the Change in the klf20s yet, might need more break in time. I just pulled all these speakers out of storage been sitting for like 20 years. My dad used them for a very short time and them put them away. I’ve been using RF3 for the past 20 years without issue for home theater so I thought I’d give these KLfs a try. Also anyone know if Klipsch stills makes and sells the mid range horns for this series of speakers? One on the has a small crack that I will apoxy for now. But new horns would be nice if I can get them. Also I have experience the rattle from the loose joints on these boxes that surprisingly never was an issue on the RF3s. So was going to run epoxy all around the edges on the inside of the boxes for now. Is there any advantage to building new boxes out of like 12 ply birch plywood (I own a cabinet shop). That is also an option. Any input would be appreciated. I’m new to the forum and with the hobby of modifications to these speakers like I said my RF3s have been working flawlessly for 20 years with no issues. Just thought I’d try something new. Thanks Rich
