I have the SVS PB12-ISD to go with my Forte-II front R&R, Academy inthe center, and KG1's in the rear. I like this sub and I am pleased with how it blends with my Klipsch ensamble.

It seems to me that using an Academy for a surround is a mismatch of its intended purpose in life - a center channel speaker. For what they sell for these days, you could do a lot better. I use a pair of KG-1's (oiled oak) with FORTE-II's in the front L and R position with the Academy in the Center - where it belongs. a SVS sub rounds out the mix. The KG 1's do a great job as rear surrounds with this mix of vintage Klipsch speakers. I paid 250 bucks for them new back in 1990. When calibrating the system using an SPL meter, the KG-1's had to be turned up about +4Db to match the levels of the forte and academy. The systems is balenced and sounds great.

I have a MARANTZ SR6200 powering Klipsch Forte-II (L and R), Academy Center, and KG-1 (surround left and right), and SVS SUB (which has its own amp). The 6200 powers these speakers well. I play movies AND music - that latter at high volume. I am quite satisfied witht he 6200.

I ordered the ACE 315 from an authorized web dealer. I expect it this thursday. Cant wait to hook it up. Will let you know how it works..

I just ordered an ADCOM ACE 315 surge supressor/line coditioner. I'll let you all know howit performs once I hook it up. I looked at t alot of products and decised on the ACE. It doesnt use finite-lived MOV to shunt the surge...

Hi all, I am also in the market for a surge protector/line conditioner. I looked at all the monster products and so on. I simply am not reallyimpressed with the MOV technology. I am zeroing in the the ADCOM ACE 315 and 615 products. they do not use the MOV approach. I wonder if anyone has any experience with this product???

Hi all, Has anyone had any experience with the ACE315 Line Enhancer ILS (or the ACE-615)? IF so, please tell me your experiences with it. I am looking for a good surge supressor/line conditioner and this product seems to have my favor. I am a little weary about the Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) types and their associated durability.

thanks folks. Lots of good leads here. I checked the thread in the "technical section" of the forum. I am glad to see there are other companies in addition to Monster that make surge supressors+noise filtering products. I have some comparison shopping to do. I am most interested in the noise filtering function. I know that my 57" Hitachi and Marantz rcvr have build in surge supression, and my HT receptables are on a dedicated circuit and fuze - there are no other outlets on that loop other than the 6pack of receptables that services my HT. But that isnt as robust as I think it needs to be, a good bolt o flightning an I believe I would be fried. I am so curious about the claims of better picture and sound when using a noise filtering unit that I probably wont be able to resist adding this to my HT. Im a little concerned about the inductor-in-the-loop thing and the associated response time when subjected to high current transients. hmm...

Hello all, I am curious about two products that I hear can make big differences in HT audio and video quality - they are 1) AC power noise filters and 2) high end AC power leads. An example of item 1 are the Monster surge protectors with noise filtering. There are a whole lines of these units, from power strips to component-looking units that would go on your rack. They espouse leading edge noise filtering technology and a noticeable improvement in Audio and vid quality. These products span the 100 - 1000 dollar range. The second product are super delux power lines - these are the leads that go from your AC wall outlet and plug in to the back of your component. I have read that the ones that typicall accompany an AV component are garbage in terms of sheilding, conductivity, loss, etc... An internet search on this product yields items that go up to 250 bucks for these things. What does the incredible body of knowledge that resides on this forum think about these products? Are these must haves? My HT currently doesnt include such "power conditioning" elements but, as an HT hobbyist, I am considering adding these elements... whaddyathink?

yea I know. But the audio quality, especially with DTS is excellent. He has a new DVD out called "Growing Up". The video is much better and audio still excellent. When you watch secret world and then put in growing up, you'll think PG transformed into Marlon Brando in his role as COL Kurtz on Apocolypse now

I replaced and RC3-II with an ACADEMY to better match my FORTE-II front L and R's. The ACADEMY does sonically match the forte-II better than the RC3-II did. However, the HT sound using the RC3-II was phenomenal while I would describe the FORTE-II/ACADEMY pair (with two KG-1's bringing up the rear) HT Nirvana. In either instance, we're talkin' high end HT sound. If you have discriminating taste and are also an HT hobbyist, then you will always have the desire for perfection, I would recommend procuring the Academy. PS - I never get rid of my RC3-II. Its sleeping in its orginal packaging.
