  1. If it is a good deal just buy them. It is that easy.
  2. Go get 'em https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ele/d/garden-grove-klipsch-la-scala-speakers/7594927571.html
  3. Anyone ever build a H2 harmonic generator by Pass? https://www.firstwatt.com/pdf/art_h2.pdf
  4. If you have the copper colored horns you will likely never get the wrinkles out. On Heritage, some 89 cent black enamel paint from Michaels will make them look as new. I also did this on JBL Centuries and the yellowing woofers now shine white like new.
  5. I ran Belles with SET maybe 2 or three watts and they had bass.
  6. Yep, I wet them and tie then up in a plastic bag fro disposal. It actually says the BLO is inflammable so it cannot burn right? 😱 I just oiled some teak JBLs with BLO and mineral spirits a few months ago. They were dry and really needed some help. I had not thinned the BLO in the past. It worked way better. 3:1 ratio. Rub on, then after a few minutes or as soon as you finish both speakers, get a clean cloth and rub off the excess. Mine shined up like brand new. Be careful not to get the BLO mix where you do not want it as it is shinny. I cut up a new white tee shirt around 4" x 5" or so and keep the pieces in a container for staining and oiling. One shirt will last several years.
  7. I did it with K Horns but never tested them. They did have very good bass, but not that pretty, a little too wide.
  8. What stain did you use? I have some oak cabinets that I want to refinish and like your results.
  9. Just look on Craigslist. Nice rooms everywhere.
  10. Please post pics if you post a FB ad if you don't mind. Facebook will not let you see them if you are not a member.
  11. I like this solution, but if you do not want to cut the back, something like this will work nicely. Might need to make the drill holes a little larger. https://www.parts-express.com/Binding-Post-with-1-Thread-2-Pair-091-1250?quantity=1 https://www.parts-express.com/Binding-Post-Banana-Jack-Pair-w-Tab-091-340?quantity=1 https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-BPA-38G-HD-Binding-Post-Pair-Gold-091-1245?quantity=1
  12. When I grew up you only went to a restaurant once a week. Now three times a day. I still do once a week if even and then it is healthy (or at least as close to healthy that you can get from a restaurant). Cut out all crap and then go the extra mile and get rid of sugar (even in your coffee). You will not even think about weight as you will just stay thin. No effort needed.
  13. I just got an LCR meter a few days ago and tested it on the caps from my Forte II and Chorus IIs (so maybe five years newer than your speakers I am guessing). All of the caps were in spec, including the electrolytics, except for two 6 uF electrolytics in the Chorus IIs that are silver (feeding the Autoformer). Looking at the Forte I schematic you only have one 47 uf electrolytic. All should be fine. If you ever do decide to check them out, at 1 kHz the polys all measured around 0.3 to 0.4 ohms DCR and the electrolytics measured 0.1 DCR.
  14. @RealMarkDeneen I could not remember what the Blueberry looked like on back. Yes plenty of room. Worth taking the time to lay it out and get the spacing just right. I will put this picture in my server when I get back to work next week. I have a Fisher and the top of the case is vented. I will need a plate as I described for speaker terminals, but definitely room in the Blueberry.
  15. The sale includes a center. Yowza! These and the Persian Nut for sale, nice choices right now if one is in the market.
  16. Or you could just enjoy them. Is this really worth your time? Greg does really nice work. It was nice when he was still contributing here.
  17. I would think that venting is an issue. I have a Fisher and want to add 5 way binding posts and have been thinking about this. It seems like you can add a plate with brackets and maybe mesh around it for a factory look.
  18. Please post a pic of the LM350. Mark, do you say to use aluminum standoffs for heat dissipation or more likely just to stand the heat.
  19. It actually sounds pretty simple. If someone can build a nice neat crossover they should have no trouble with this. FWIW I have some really nice receivers and DVD players that have the same issue with the RCAs. Thanks Mark.
  20. Finding a competent technician is the key. And finding the parts can take so much time. If the technician will put in the correct parts and do a good job you are all set. I have had so much trouble finding people that do a proper job. A friend of mine bought a new truck that included oil changes. He did the first one and marked the oil filter with the date as he always did in the past. He then decided to use the dealer's free service. After a few changes he took a look and the filter than he marked was still there. Really hard to find people willing to do a job correctly.
  21. Mark, If there are any other common failures can you post them? Parts and solder are cheap and I think that many might want to just go ahead and do the replacements proactively if they are handy. I have a Tercel 1 and if there anything that I should beef up I'd rather do it now. Thanks.
