I’m pondering a Luxman combo of the MQ-88uC amp with CL-38uC preamp. Will these be quiet enough to use with 99db Heresy 4’s?

I have a shot at either an air tight kt-88 or a Shindo el84. I have always had solid state but would like to take a shot at tubes. the thread wandered so I’m going to have to make a call sight unseen

Does the music matter? Will a 2 watt 45 handle Metallica as well as acoustic jazz at 85db?

@Silverfoxvtx1800 I’ve been only solid state so far and if I stay that way a Coda amp is in my future. that said, 300b tubes intrigue me. Can 8 wpc bring the thunder on Heresy 4’s?

Thanks all. Some interesting amps mentioned. I’d like to go tube this time around and have been looking at NAT, Aric, Ottomon Labs and more. I have a fetish for Japanese tube amps. I listen to a lot of rock, metal, punk and stuff like that so I’m not sure which direction to go. I listen at 75-95 db about 9 feet from the front baffle. Everyone making 300b amps these days and I met a dude who plays slayer with an Audio Note Meishu!
