  1. I thought the idea was to use hardware decoding to take strain off of the processor and to obtain better quality.
  2. Oh ok. 7ft should be enough. Thanks.
  3. Thats smart I guess except for the people who dont had long cords to go both ways.
  4. One more thing just for kicks and giggles. How the hek does this thing hook up with an existing system?? I have the Promedia 5.1s.
  5. I have looked at this little item and being a BASS fanatic it looks like a very attractive buy. But as I have said in some of my other posts I am not crazy about shelling out dough. I have the 5.1 system and am happy but an extra woofer maybe under my bed might be nice to have . Is it really worth the cash is my question. I mean an extra 100W and 3dB is a pretty nice addition so why the hek not. Secondly, since it is a forward firing driver should I point the thing at the spot I sit when watching a movie or at the wall next to my bed to reflect the bass off of it. The wall is drywall I believe with a layer of beams and bricks after that so the sound insulation is decent. Thanks for the advice.
  6. I've already invested over 500 dollars ($400 Klipsh 5.1, $150 Creative Labs Extigy) in a speaker system for my computer so I am not really willing anymore to continue shelling out money unless its really something that I could use. My Extigy currently supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and thats about it. This other little magic box Klipsch has will do that plus DTS, something else, and its THX certified. This is very attractive but is it worth the extra 150 bucks??? Besides, Creative is planning on doing an Extigy 2 that would probably support all this stuff. So is it still worth it?? And finally, how can I hook this little box up to my Extigy card or computer for that matter so that it will do the decoding like its supposed to? And just one more thing, what other features does this DD-5.1 incorporate in addition to the decoding? I would think it would have some other little goodies in store considering that it was built by Klispch and assumably for Klipsch stuff. PS- BTW. WHERE THE H3!! CAN I GET ONE OF THESE THINGS!?!?!?! I have looked to the far reaches of the globe and beyond and have found NOTHING. Anyone know?
  7. Well I suppose that would make sense, as long as it isn't going to take the quality down to pond scum level then I guess that works. So I assume if I wanted to have more than 2 subs I could just use multiple RCA Y Splitters to get the right number.
  8. I've been checking out them as well.
  9. So how would I go about stacking these things. Would I have to get more equipment or would I just be able to do a daisy chain type of thing. Thanks.
  10. I just noticed that when I started looking for them on eBay. The center channel alone would cost 1000 so that idea went down-hill really quickly. I was looking for 500 at the absolute most. So now I think I am leaning towards the Synergy Series.
  11. I am trying to get this home theater organized and I still have yet to find a good processor/preamp and amplifier. I need a pretty good output for each channel and I am still searching. I would like to hear what some of you audio pros put in your systems. Thanks.
  12. So it seems that everyone is saying go for the Reference series. Well it seems that's what I'll be doing now. Thanks for all the help people. Much appreciated.
  13. I am very serious when it comes to sound. I like the biggest and best and the best quality around at a decent price, so that's why I came to Klipsch. So my question here is would it be worth it to get one of these things. I have heard outstanding reviews of this thing and it just sold out completely so I am guessing that it must be pretty popular. I currently have a sound card that will Decode Dolby Digital 5.1 but that is all. It has great sound quality but do you think that one decoding option is enough? It can do SP/DIF Digital Output which would goto the DD-5.1 but would having the extra decoding options be worth the money. I'd like to hear your opinion before I shovel out the cash. Thanks.
