  1. I think all us vets can relate to this.
  2. They may not be Klipschorns, but these stacked KLF-30s in Germany probably make any recording sound like a live event in that room!
  3. Ditto on Pandora...an excellent online radio source. Also enjoy Live365.com internet radio...thousands of stations with every imaginable genre of music!
  4. Ditto...8 pairs. If Marshall and Fender can do it, so can Klipsch![]
  5. I've never heard any other SET/single-driver combo other than the system I owned, so I can't make any reference to auditioning the best setup of this genre (the BEZ Model T3B 300B SET amp I still own; the Loth-X Amaze are now sold). I know it was only a miniscule slice of a huge SET/S-D pie sound-wise and probably nowhere near the best in terms of dynamics, speed, air and transparency, but to my ears (and with my limited budget) it sounded pretty damn convincing to experiencing a live musical event in my own listening room! If not for my financial situation, I would've kept my Loth-X monitors and/or traded up to much nicer Lowthers, Omegas, or even other (now discontinued) Loth-X horn-loaded towers, et al.
  6. Well said, oscarear. I said my goodbye's to the ol' coot on the General Forum thread...OB doesn't want to hear it again (he knows how I feel)...[]
  7. j...Jim t...Tidwell 1stcav...From '82 thru '84 I was in the US Army assigned to Division Support Command, 1st Cavalry Division, Ft. Hood, TX. My tenure there was the best 18 months of my life! First Team Always.
  8. Sounds good to me! I had little direct contact with Rob over the years, but I always enjoyed reading his posts. This was a true, down-to-earth kinda guy that said what needed to be said, whether you liked it or not. OB didn't mince words...you knew just where you stood with this man. If you pissed him off, he'd never let you forget it (until he was through riling you). And if you praised him for his attraction to his family, his love for this country, or to his musical tastes...well, then you had a true friend for life! Even though the two of us didn't share a whole lot of correspondence on this forum, what little interaction we did actually respond to made me respect the man a great deal! OB was the real deal...with all the phonies you come across on forums nowadays (people who talk big and hide behind their avatars), you knew damn well that whatever Rob had said to you on a thread, he'd say to you while looking you straight in the eye face-to-face! If anyone deserved to wear the yellow Bull$hit button (besides the late PWK), it would most certainly be the ol' Buckster![bs] As I said in the other thread, the Klipsch Forum will seem emptier now without the ol' coot. At least we'll all have his memory to cherish in our hearts. Rock on, buddy! We know he's gonna give everyone hell up there in heaven![6][A]
  9. I'm sure you're right, dtel. He's probably laughing his a$$ off with his well-planned scheme. I hope then that he chokes on his money! Karma will have a way of catching up to him someday, and then he'll be sorry he ever ripped innocent people off.
  10. The seller's gotta be nervous by now, peering over his shoulder everywhere he goes...how can he enjoy his new-found money if he's wondering when or where he's gonna get caught? Certainly not worth the aggravation in my book! Hope he has a helluva time sleeping at nights. Hope his guilty conscience is eating him alive!
  11. The Klipsch Forum seems emptier now without the ol' coot...guess it'll never be quite the same again. At least we'll all have his memory to cherish in our hearts. Rock on, buddy! We know he's gonna give everyone hell up there in heaven![6][A]
  12. Dave, you can find a used Tascam patchbay with 64 ports for a lot less than $300+...just a thought, unless you have something specific in mind.
  13. You can't beat a Mac, no matter their age. It's how I felt when I bought my first MC7200, and later a much older MC250. There aren't a whole lot of SS amps that sound quite like McIntosh amps, that's for sure! Wish I could've kept 'em all...
  14. Here's my Asian Shorthair Samantha back in '03 when she was about 6 months old...loves the Klipsch, too!
  15. What wonderful photographs, and what a wonderful tribute as well. How long has this museum been in place?
  16. Might as well throw in my two cents... Awhile back I purchased a used pair of cherry RB-75s from Ben Clarke, who had purchased them from Mark Deneen, who in turn had purchased them from yet another forum member (Jeremy is his name, but I can't recall his profile ID), who very well may have purchased them either new or from yet another owner! These beautiful cherry monitors have been quite literally from one corner of this country to the other in their brief 4 year existence...also without a scratch (well, except for a minor scuff mark on the bottom of one near the screw holes due at some point to its use on a speaker stand). That, indeed is quality! If Bonzo's experience had been mine, I wouldn't have gone off the deep end either considering how far they've travelled over the years (and my RB-75's original cartons are beaten up pretty badly due to poor shipping and handling).
  17. I have no experience with on9mart.com, but I do with one brand they carry (which, on their site is a no-name house brand). On their homepage on the right side column, scroll down to "Brand: Other"...the last three monoblock amps at the bottom of that page (KT88, 300B and EL34) are not named here but are designed and built by Edmund Lam (aka: Lam Ying Wing) of Hong Kong of the once known "BEZ" brand, at least on his eBay auctions years ago (no longer a member). There is a Chinese website devoted to his many amp and preamp creations (including schematics): http://www.bezdz.com/cpj1.htm, but you'll have to hunt 'n' peck thru links made up of Chinese characters to see images. Although they appear on the above BEZ website, I believe both the SET amp and SRPP preamp I've owned since '03 are long discontinued. Even so, they're still quite functional and perform exceedingly well despite their affordability. I have never auditioned any other BEZ components other than the two I won on eBay and I still use today, but from the longevity and reliability of my BEZ Model Q4B 6SN7 line stage pre and its companion Model T3B 300B SET stereo amp, I can safely say that I'm extremely satisfied with his products and their sound quality! I know there are way better well-known Chinese brands out there that use premium parts and sound like a million bucks, but from what I've heard over the years with the use of NOS American tubes, I'd recommend the BEZ products (or house brand on the on9mart site) to anyone looking for reliable, affordable Chinese tube gear. Just my two cents...
  18. The only Klipsch I knew of while stationed in Ludwigsburg back in the early '80s was at the Robinson Barracks PX in Stuttgart, but Werner's business in Elze should be able to help since I believe he sells tube amplifiers as well. There was also a little mom 'n' pop outfit in downtown Ludwigsburg that sold old audio tube amps, along with vintage Grundig and Telefunken tube radios, but I wasn't into tube gear back then and never ventured inside the store...since I returned to the states in '86, I have no clue whether that shop's still in business.
  19. Dave, congrats on the TCH event allowing you to do your thing. Maybe they see the real potential of SoundCube...this may very well be the recording breakthrough you need to get the ball rolling in your court. Wishing you the very best!
  20. Wow, did I ever miss out on the festivities! I almost bought a Soundcraftsman amp back in '83 while stationed in Germany, but instead chose the 201Wpc Carver M-400t "cube" amp for my JBL L112s. I recall the Soundcraftsmen gear being decent mid-fi stuff...if your amp's up to snuff, then I don't think it's the problem. Then again, maybe it doesn't have that synergy matchup with the Fraziers, or they just need repositioning in your room. Or your Elevens don't like SS amps...wonder how my Baldwin 6L6 amp would've made your Fraziers sound? Questions that make you go hhhmmmmmm...and not like the hum from your preamp (sorry)!
  21. If you can find Virgil Fox's "The Entertainer", played on the mighty WurliTzer theatre organ in Wichita, KS, that's a fabulous recording! You can also find excellent new theatre organ CDs thru the Organ Historical Society website (no LPs, though).
  22. Very interesting old documentary. I'm glad much of the original buildings were left intact and thus put back into use manufacturing tubes again! I wonder if the TubeTech brand has similar sonic characteristics from the Mullard originals, even with their better specs and tolerances? Maybe they'll build more tube types in the near future than the four they make now.
  23. I just know I'm missing out on something really big here, dernnit! I should've just blew off the bills I owe this month and hopped on a jet to TX with a toothbrush in my back pocket and my Baldwin amp cradled in my arms (don't know if I could get past airport security, though, 'cause to the unenlightened my tube amp would be mistaken for a weapon)! From those of us left behind, we expect to at least see some great photos taken of this li'l shindig...
