  1. Today is the second, right? This will no doubt turn into legend. The legend of Greg Scott.Absolutely Awesome.Congratulations,Greg. SSH
  2. Kman, I have three C7's wall hung, using OmniMount 60 OWB-B's.Efunctional.com has them at a great price. SSH
  3. Congratulations,m00n! Great looking speakers. You'll soon forget about the scratches. It's really been fun experiencing this quest with you through the Forum. Somehow I expect not to see these on a gravel bar on the Caddo. Get used to them before you start modding(OK,so who takes his own advice?).ALK's...
  4. Kain, You are asking about several fine receivers. At this level of quality, you will probably get positives from their owners. My Marantz 9200 makes me happy every day, especially coupled with a Marantz DV8300.I have heard the Denon, think it is a top-notch receiver, but haven't heard it with Klipsch speakers to make an A/B comparison(let alone in the same environment).I encourage you to consider the Marantz.I can say that it is far sweeter with Khorns than my Pioneer VSX-D1S (same room, same speakers, cables),although this is,in my mind an apple/orange comparison. You would probably be happy with either one.

    Movie Quotes

I've lost track of the thread of favorite movie quotes and want to share it.Please help. Thanks
  8. Another Clint favorite:"Deservin' aint got nothing to do with it." From When_Harry_Met_Sally_:"I'll have what she's having."
  9. HDBRbuilder, Thanks for the history!Down in L.A. we get an occassional Oh you she ta.Many of us have ventured north and probably unknowingly met you on the Caddo.I rented canoes from Steve in Glenwood and stayed in his rent house next to the bridge outside of Amity many times.Since that was our usual destination,it was great to only have a short up-hill walk to lick wounds or be immobile.Howled at the moon many times there.

    Marantz DV8300

Strabo, I didn't get SACD's yesterday. My comparisons for CD & DVD units are a little unfair, since I have upgraded from a $450 JVC 7 disc (that I have been very happy with, and think is an excellent value).BUT...I unplugged the JVC and connected to a signifigantly improved sound environment.I was, well,a little giddy. The music was much more palpable. I had seen Insomnia_ on my JVC.It wouldn't have been my first choice for a 'first movie',but my girlfriend rented it,and it was worth seeing again. The video quality is stunning compared to the JVC.My TV is an RCA 16:9 HDTV.In progressive mode, the Marantz shows its' strong suit. The sound is great, but this is a superb video player.I didn't see any digititus. If anyone has movie suggestions to test with, recommend them.
  11. If your budget permits, get the RSW15.You have a fine pair of speakers,so why not compliment them?I speak from my ears-not from my a**.
  12. My Marantz DV8300 arrived yesterday. It's been promised for six weeks. It is (now) worth all of the hassle of unmet delivery expectations. It was manufactured in January,so I guess I should understand. My first listen was The_ Guitar_ Trio_ (1996) Paco de Lucia,Al Di Meola,& John Mc Laughlin. Then I watched Insomnia_.What a difference a source makes.I'm buying SACD's today. If you're looking for a DVD/SACD player in the 1-2K range, it is worth an audition.
  13. I'm also pleased with my RSW-15.I did not audition another sub-although I've heard a few.I didn't audition the RSW-15, either.I listen to Klipsch.
  14. Scott, I agree with you,and for your reasons.I bought my girlfriend a Bose Acoustic Wave System for Christmas. She wanted music on her nightstand. No source I have heard provides as much listenable sound from a portable player. When the cones rotted in my old 901's,I got a new pair from Bose with a new equalizer for $300 & my old speakers. My mom uses them now. They do not compare favorably with my Klipsch speakers-Nor should they.Bose has a strong niche. The magazine you cite is noted for rating high-end gear as superfluous.
  15. Well, you just never know who you're likely to run into.I went to high school with both of them.Haven't seen them for Years. You were in good company,in my opinion.Grins,here.
  16. OK,Mallett,I've gone to another computer & can reply now.I guess you got my E,but if anyone else is curious,my hometown is El Dorado.
  17. The ALK crossovers in my Khorns & LaScallas are such an improvement that I wish I had more Klipsch's to put them in.
  18. Thanks,Big D.This confirms that artto's suggestions about materials are right on.I would have shimmed a piece of wood, then applied the weatherstriping, but thought you guys might have a better idea. Now I'm on a scavenger hunt.
  19. Dave, Interesting and useful. Thanks, guys.More than anything, you've confirmed that I'm on track & not going to screw up something.Again, the specific suggestions about materials are very helpful.
  20. Rick, The corner isn't square.Dave,After installing the plywood,I found that while my carpet was absorbing a noticable amount of bass, that was only part of my loss.I was following suggestions from HDBR in an earlier post, and was about to apply rubber automotive weatherstriping on the tailboard & flat weatherstriping under the bottom, when I noticed the gap.
  21. I have weatherstrip for the bottom, too, but when I saw the gap,I knew that I had to deal with that first. My receiver is a Marantz 9200,& Craig has my Bogen 230A to rebuild.
  22. I considered a corner plate similar to what you describe, but just don't want to rework the walls. The build-up specifics help a lot.I had in mind to use wood, but your suggestions may be better materials.
  23. Good suggestion,but I've checked.No pics now,but I may take off the side panel & shoot one.
  24. That's not an option. The sole plate apparently kicked out before we nailed it,& we didn't notice. The corner is very tight, with 2 layers of sound board & sheetrock.
