  1. Pimp? Yes. You are providing us with the best vestiges of audio equipment beauty that most have seen. You are the peddler extreme. Price? Free to view. To own, that is another matter. But it is still worthy.
  2. OK kh we have to bust you for being JF's pimp. That is too sweet. Now all I have to do is figure out how to clean my screen!

It's a neat little player that I used as my staple player for intalling bargain "good" sounding systems for loons willing to pay for as much. That being said, you will see some serious improvmement with an upgrade here. Even a first generation used Rega Planet will provide a TREMENDOUS upgrade from the little NAD. I would really consider that before putting more $$$ into amplification. You would be VERY surprised. I rank the Planet as an EXCELLEMT match with EICO amps. This would not be a subtle improvement. kh ---------------- Yes the 502 is far from perfect. WAY FAR. Until yesterday it had an eBay value of $20 because of burned out display lights. My Weller and 2 micro bulbs takes care of that. eBay here it comes. Speaking of that, dont get me started on Rega!! That has to be one of the best CD Players ever. One like yours is over $300 already on eBay. As for my paper ads I dont plan on running them again. I spent a big $7 for 1 month of my ad. If nothing turns up, so be it. But, who knows.
  4. Rick, I just put an ad in the local weekly shopper paper for Scott and Eico tube amps. Kept it pretty basic. It will run for 4 weeks. I will let everyone here know what it turns up. (My boss has advertised in the same paper for old BB Guns. He gets several calls each week so even in the sticks there is hope).
  5. Thats Easy for me. Photography. One of the other things I already enjoy besides music.
  6. 109.5 dB efficiency!!!! Holy cats, just thinking about an amplifier would drive these beasts!
  7. Very well put, Kelly. I think one of the major things you point out is>>> I am also more in favor of tube rectification. That tube, be it a GZ34/37/5AR4 or EZ81/6CA4 is hard to beat with a diode. Even though my Eico ST70 is 7591 output I believe most of its magic comes from the 5AR4 rectifier(and the 6SN7GT's up front).
  8. THanks for the comments, jt1stcav. I'll see what I can find out on those speakers of yours. >>1992 Carver SD/A-450 Not even a real Carver. Bob was long gone by 1992. What do you have in mind to replace it? (The stuff I had was from the early/mid 80s when I was stationed in Germany. And grandps stuff still kicked the stuffing out of it.) BTW do NOT go with an ST70. Only because the output tubes are 7591s. Not the easiest tube to find.

  10. Listen to Craig. What he says is one of the reasons that vintage transformers sound good, they have been conditioned. I also think we had higher grade iron back then. (But that is another story that involves mining and railroading forums). Also by rebuilding a vintage amp or using vintage parts you are RECYCLING! Save the earth man.
  11. The 304 is a nice little amp as far as SS goes. It has a phono section that works fairly well. One of the main reasons I got it was the pre out / main in for using a sub with my sats. I remember reading the review Corey Greenberg did on it along with the 502 CD in 1993. I got the 502 shortly after that but couldnt afford the 304. I did run across it in 1996 on my birthday of all days and on sale! ($299). Guess I didnt do too bad. 7 years later and I sold it for $202.50. Here is the auction link with pictures. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3280&item=1948759997&rd=1
  12. Thanks for the info, Craig. I see that the C/D models use the 7591. That is the same as my Eico ST70. Also the reason I am looking for something that uses a more common tube. I have seen the ones on eBay and I am watching them. I am also watching the HF81 but those have been going high lately, but we will see. I just sold my little NAD 304 integrated on eBay, so I now have extra tube money. If, make that WHEN I get one of these units, I will keep your services in mind. I may only need parts but if I run into something hairy it will probibly come your way. Thanks again! Tim
  13. Thanks, I'll wait for Craig's input also. I know you guys are busy with the new site. Nevermind, I just need to stop being so lazy. Google is our friend.
  14. I am curious as to what the differences are between the Model a, b c and d. I have read on here that the b is superior over the a. Thanks for the enlightenment. Tim
  15. Looking good guys. I already have it in my favorites list.
  16. My God, is there no justice in this world? "I used it for many years in my shop....and replaced it and all my other components with a Bose Wave Radio."
  17. Since there have been a number of posts about the Eico ST40 I thought I'd pass along this page I found tonight. Just click on the schematics logo next to the model number. http://users.rcn.com/fiddler.interport/ST40.HTM
  18. you'd best hang on to her! Even my wife who lets me do what ever I want with my electronics addiction wouldn't have said that. (And I have 2 systems set up in our living room!)
  19. Oh Happy Happy Joy Joy. I have an amp that ends tomorrow on eBay and both the Post Office and UPS are on my sh!t list. And no FedEx shipoper around here that I know of. Thankfully the amp does have the original box and packing which is one of UPS's requirements.
  20. or is that Madona? I picked a hella night to start drinking again!

I know it is late here now when you go from looking like Mojo Risen to Marilyn Monroe!
  22. No!!!!! Please make them stop!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=1949124331
  23. This guy needs to be strung up for Klipsch abuse and being an idiot. "These work good and have not been used since moving to Bose system. They have no major damage but have scratches and finish has worn off on top of one of them." http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14993&item=1949465017

But, how does that make Milwaukee Wisconsin an overseas post?? (My KM-6s where originally purchased from Flanner's in Milwaukee). I dont really care though. I got a pretty good deal on them and they sound great.
