Good to hear from you dtel. Yeah, I don't watch any sports and travel the world on YouTube and my modest 55" monitor. I have a library of Live-cams from favorite places where I visit daily and usually put on the headphones for a recent (or Live) walk or train ride in Europe...Amazing footage with alot being 4K.

Thanks, I have looked at many webcams, it's kind of addictive, I find myself looking at places I have never heard of. It's just nice to see new places, just in general time, nothing special just daily how it looks.

And some places we have been, just a couple.

  2. One sign there might be a problem is when a company does not supply ANY specs on performance.

Instead of saying " Better sound through science" it should say "Better sound through Marketing".

  3. This thread was 5 years old but guess what, your post helped. I might need to replace that remote, the down volume button does not work anymore, and maby a couple others.

But I still love that receiver, still sounds great and works 100% so I need to get another remote.

    Thanks

One thing can be said about this man - he lived the life he sang about.

That was really true about him, it was not an act, it was how he was all the time.

  5. Could it be wall mounted, I did it and love it.  A full motion mount, it's easy to tilt out on one side or both to deal with wires but the best part is it can be tilted to a perfect angle to aim at the seating position. Solved a bunch of problems for me.

65" tv at 65 lbs, that mount holds 80 lbs but there are many that holds much more, this was about $50.

I haven't had any problems for about 20 years with any form of altered sound.  Happened soon after I divorced the wife.  Strange...

Alot less of a squawker around the house, PWK always said "we live in the midrange" but I doubt he would want that much of it.

  7. Hate to hear this, he has some fun music, never been but they say the concerts and parking areas are crazy.

But if you live long enough everyone you liked passes away.  It's the way it goes, never ends, no one gets out alive.

Long story short. Mid 70's one fell into my Pepsi can and I didn't know it.

Came close to doing the same just never swallowed one. Many years ago when we would go camping if you left a soft drink, any kind that was sweet sitting on a picnic table bees would climb into the can. I guess they were going after the sugar, came close to that many times, just got lucky to not swallow one which apparently is not good at all.

  10. They are not used to halving much rain at all, a couple of inches could be a problem for the area.

I was watching a local weather report from the area and they called it a monster storm, 😶 it's a cat 1 and will downgrade to a tropical storm, come-on man. 😮

  11. Sorry to hear this, it has been a rough year for you.

interesting stuff and makes for good conversation .

Almost forgot this part, your right it is nice to talk about this stuff, it is how I learned over the years, even if there is MUCH more I have no idea about than I think I know.

Unfortunately ,  lots of people will be forced to make various compromise,

True, I am one of those people.

My 2 ch speakers are much better than my HT speakers, BUT I do not have room even in the 24' wide room to have something good enough to keep up with those as a center so I compromise and use 6 Forte 2s and 3s for HT. If the sub was smaller I would have room but there is no way I will do without this sub. The sub is in the center and a Forte stands in front of it for HT.  The room problem in the center is because the sub is 6' wide and 4' high but I have not heard better so it stays, besides it was a gift from a friend which means alot to me.

take the guy with a pair of Heritage Jubilee’s , what if he  decides to expand to multi channel , he will be faced with difficult choices, Will he  add another Jubilee at center ?

Some have, you need the room and for me the hard part the money to do that.

opt for a phantom center ?

    Not a bad idea actually.

I talked with someone a while back who only did HT, he never did 2 ch so he never knew. I was telling him with 2 ch the idea is to toe in the speakers to have the image come from exactly the center. The same way is ideal for a phantom center, the sound sounds like it is from the screen. When I play concert disc I sometimes set it to 2 ch, I can walk up to the Tv and it still sounds like the sound is coming from the center, it was quite a surprised how wide the 2 ch speakers were imagining, but they are not normal.

I learned alot here over the years asking questions and after trying some of the suggestions. Even at times when it went against what I thought was best. One of those things was set all HT speakers to small and let the sub handle the bottom, if the sub is capable.

'Well they were correct, after trying it a few different times I heard the difference, I was using all Forte 11 at the time and I thought they were more capable then just being set to small. But they were right, instead of 6 of the speakers in the room trying to cover down to a certain frequency just the sub did below the set freq, it cleaned up the sound a good bit.

You never know and I am always learning from people here, like many years ago I didn't think matching 3 front speakers were as important as what it is until I listened to them and tried it......another one of those learning times.

Some things sound crazy but actually work, if all else fails a good friend has done this work for 30+years and I trust what he says.

Home theater sound is   highly center focused ,

True, that's is because the screen is in the center.

Im sure we can agree that the front three channels are the primary channels , but of these three front channels, most if not all dialogue and a major portion of the on screen action,

    Same answer as above.

The center channel is focused to the story presented on screen and is most vital,  whether produced in phantom or as a discrete channel. The other channels provide us with surround sound. 🤓

    Yes

When mixed the center info is in the center for obvious reasons and the other channels are set to give a realistic sound as if you were standing looking into the scene. With someone talking to the left of the screen and they walk across to the right of the screen the voice should go through the correct speakers to sound as if you were there, not all recording do this but when done correctly it should sound like that.

I remember when it was not discrete channels and called "pro logic", more of just a blend into all speakers and sometimes not good at all, it was nothing like today, a good mix today is really amazing the effect it has.

    get a third identical Tekton

    Best idea

    ------------------------------------------------

If the center is most of the focus instead of the front 3 might as well just get a good soundbar.

3 identical is ideal, why have a weak spot.

You are talking about the promedia 2.1 Heritage subwoofer, correct?

This is the only I can find when I use Google.

No, to me anything promedia is not really Heritage, Heritage is what Klipsch did for many yeears before any of the other products came along, it's what built this company.

The sub we were talking about is brand new and not even for sale yet. The only pictures of them are in this thread.

  17. Almost forgot, what I love most about the new Heritage subs it it's a horn, even better a vented horn.

I am half deaf but can easily hear the difference with a horn sub compared to a direct radiator, even more so with full horn speakers. It seems to be a perfect fit to blend together and also increases efficiency which is rally needed with most Heritage.

Happy to see real Heritage subs and being a vented horn is great, people have been asking for a Heritage sub as long as I have been reading here and these will be a good example of Heritage.
