  1. Those are killer deals! You can still get them for $50+ if they aren't sold out. I've seen prices over $100 on ebay for those that are sold out. If I didn't already have the whole set, I'd jump on a few!
  2. I think Amy must have sabotaged my account!
  3. This is my 1977 high school ID card! Maybe I posted it once but I don't believe it was ever my avatar. Am I the only one whose picture got switched?
  4. Some good points. 1) Placement and 2) Letting your ears adjust... I once replaced Cornwalls with Belles and immediately freaked out. I made a HUGE mistake! A few months and a one subwoofer later, I sold the Belles and bought another pair of Cornwalls. What a mistake that was! It wasn't until I put Cornwalls back in the system that I realized just how good those Belles sounded. My ears eventually adjusted back to the Cornwalls and we lived happily ever after but you get my point.... Those mid horns are so different, it just takes a while to adjust to the new sound. Give it some time and play with placement. Most important of all, relax and enjoy the tunes!
  5. I don't think speaker break-in is ever that significant. Sounds like something else going on. What crossovers are installed? Are you lacking bass? Imaging not quite right?
  6. It usually happens when you take off the grills too often. I have the original velcro on my 80 Cornwalls and they hold just fine. It probably helps that I never take the grills off....maybe once in the last 25 years.
  7. I'm glad I missed the sale. I would have dished out $100, tops and passed the deal on to another forum member. I have no need for more speakers. Hope you guys enjoy them. If you have a bad tweeter, there's plenty of help here including Bob Crites who can get you squared away without too much damage to the wallet.
  8. My khorns are only 12 feet apart so I've been listening near-field for many years. My basement listening room has awful acoustics and it doesn't sound great at high volume, but at 70-80dbs with my chair about 8ft or so from the wall....heaven.
  9. 10 minutes from my house. Thanks for the heads up.
  10. How disappointing. I would have kept them had I known.....Drove all the way to Syracuse to buy these from the original owner's daughter (he had passed away). Oh well. FYI Dhar - I just looked at the link. These grills are not removable. Trying to remove them will only damage the trim. They're held on with about 12 million staples.
  11. So that's where my Bean Blossom LP went! I've looked for that more than a few times over the years. Glad it's in good hands. []
  12. If you hold out, you can probably find Cornwalls for $500. I've owned about 6 or 7 pairs over the years and at least 4 were $500 or less. Fortes or Chorus would work well in your room also. I love Heresys but they just don't compare to their big brother. Also, Cornwalls are perfect for the type of music you like. Where are you located?
  13. Don't know how I missed this.....Congrats Tom. Can't believe its been 10 years!
  14. No tweaking necessary. They will sound great. Congrats and welcome to the forum.
  15. Wolfram - Welcome back old friend!! Glad you're horns are back and sounding good. I wondered why you suddenly disappeared. Glad to have you back. Hope all is well. - Gary
  16. David, Same thing happened with my Blueberry. Craig is your man. It'll take him about 12 seconds to find the problem. Welcome to the forum.
  17. Picked up the RTR last week and I'm just getting around to posting. This thing weighs a ton! No power cord although I see what I need to buy and I'm guessing a trip to Home Depot should do the trick. I'll probably invite my old pal Larry to come over and show me what all the buttons, controls and other gizmos do and maybe even give it a test drive. It even has the original plastic cover. Thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions. You can be sure I'll be posting again once I actually hear it play and I hope to be accepting pre-recorded donations at that time []
  18. Holy cow Scott! Seems like years since you've posted.....wait, it has been! How's it going? Hope all is well.
  19. Scotty - You have mail. Nice deals! Someone should grab that Gerry Mulligan Soft Lights! I would if I didn't already have the MOFI LP. It's a killer recording!
  20. How do you know I wouldn't want it back at that price?
  21. Yeah, we crossed paths Deano. I'll have to say no to this. Still loving my Jrs and see no reason to change. Nice of you to offer though. Anyone out there using As or AAs, even newly built versions.....you should really hear what you're missing. Once you make the switch, going back to stock networks is impossible.
  22. FYI - Those are raw birch "C" style '78s, not '72s as advertised. I happen to have C style '76s and would prefer the B style if I had a choice. Hey, nothing against any style, or any year mint Khorns......
  23. FYI - I also use a 6DJ8 (actually it's a really old NOS Cca). I was the first to break the seal on this late 50s/early 60s Siemans Cca and also used it in my BBX (guess that means it ain't NOS anymore)....thanks to my good buddy and extremely generous friend, Gilbert. Never heard a 6H30 in my system and doubt I ever will assuming the Cca remains quiet and Gilbert doesn't ask me to return it.
