  1. Everybody knows that there are only bugle boy shoes. There's no boy playing the trumpet.
  2. If you should decide on a Nitty Gritty, if you don't buy Guy's unit, IM me. Worth it.
  3. I can't speak personally about the seller. Allan is a Class Act. I doubt if he would recommend a dud. He's been on a long time and has shown himself to be one of the people, to use an old phrase, I would but a used car from.
  4. I second the appreciation for offering here first. Forum is nice that way. I hope that you get all of the enjoyment out of your new that you could hope for and more. Win
  5. Congrats on the 1,000th. Ken: contact your local PD and have the serial numbers run.

Then I bought a used Rotel 200 wpc amp. Wow now I know what you mean. Like in slam you back in your seat slam. I wonder what would happen if I turned it up loud. ---------------- I'm using an RB-1080 with a pair of KLF-20's and once the speaker placement is right the bass can actually make you nauseous (a bona-fide medical phenomena being low frequencies affecting the lower GI track, Hitler did to his own people in order to make his own them more submissive). Rotels sound a LOT better when they’re turned up. At lower power outputs the sound kinda just lies there and doesn’t take on much in the way of dynamics, sound staging and all that other good stuff. Unless you’re using the RB1095, then it’s a different story. I did find a piece of music that I think is the Rotel’s fault but I’m not sure yet. It’s Barber’s Adagio for Strings. There is a passage in there that puts me to mind of a person that has just dies and is ascending into heaven. Heavy, high pitched violins coming to a climax. Just before the climax I hear a bit of distortion in the right speaker (speakers are fine, I checked). Other than that the Rotel does a lot of things well, not great, but well. Well worth the $900 stores are asking for. Here's a review I found: http://www.stereophile.com//amplificationreviews/608/index.html But I still plan on getting a McIntosh for that ultimate sound at low volumes. ---------------- You are only one of two other people that are aware of the low frequencies and Hitler. It was always of note that the speakers used were massive with one or two on the ground. He used psychology to the max. Sick puppy. Glad you posted that.

  8. Try Amazon, if they don't have it there's a web search on their site upper right hand corner when their results are displayed. Then try putting quotes in Google Search - "MJQ" - that will bring up anything else.
  9. Often there is an attack on a youth. It seemed non-provoked. Further question led to talking to neighbors that saw the "victim" taunting the dog. Pit Bulls often find peole tauntin the animal. That I have seen. As for protection of property, it is unfathomable that a potential thief winds up suing after being bitten. First that's trespassing. The other point is how do we know the intent of the person breaking in. Home Invasion Robberies, Rapists, off the wall killers - how does one know? Should they ask? There are alarms. A good number of monitored alarms are out of State. This means a long distance call to the premises, then if the proper response is not given, an eleven digit number is then called to the appropiate LE Agency. If a thief cannot gain access in 3 - 4 minutes, they usually move on. But we are supposed to be able to have "peaceful" enjoyment of OUR property. We have thives that will not only rob a home or business but will vandalize in addition. If a thief is on your poperty by virtue of a break in and you are home, half the they may have some sort of weapon. It is a mockery of our judicial rights to be sued because of a dog biting - or there was a store in mini strip mall that had been robbed several times. The owner set an electric fence and some barbed wire. Another break-in only this time the thief receive a shock and cuts from the wire. He sued and was allowed $10,0o0.00 for pain and suffering. He confessed to breking in several times, yet the owner was sued, lost another $10,000.00 on top of losing merchandise from the break-ins.. There is somehing inherently wrong with that.
  10. I've used a .38, 9mm, .357 and a .22 rifle. At targets, and the lasered shoot, don't shoot. It is a bit un-nerving at how fast people are to use a weapon. The gruesome thing is that when you pull a weapon, in this situation, the dog owner may pull on you. The thought to remember is when you pull, be prepared to kill. I am not anti-gun nor anti dog. But I am for making sure that gun owners are trained and should pass set guidelines as one needs to do to receive a Driver's license. The same for owners of breeds that are protective, easily trained to fight. Owners should be accountable - even if Parents of the one who was bitten. Too little. Some "normal" breeds when chained up for hours outside will be nasty, that's cruelty and can and should be reported
  11. mOOn: If you go Motorola, make sure of a newer pair. What would be the maximum distance that you'd use them. If you're within a mile, there are some of the communicators - that would save you money. If you go CBs, remember channel 9 is supposed to be emergency, 19 for truckers. You'd have better luck with 19. Look for good battery life, ability to withstand moisture and impact. Also if you go CB designate a channel BEFOREHAND in the case of getting lost. Did you get the email I sent? Win

If others in yur family were ever into tbes, it might spark a rememberance of what to do. We had tube TVs for years. Do I think a person should do it, I would say listen for yourself. I have a tubed and an SS set up both with Cornwall IIs. They're not press on button and listen. Tubes need to warm, so you have a delay. They are warm - sound and temperature. Drop me a line. I'm not trying to sway you.

Bill ---------------- Short hijack: A person with good reasoning, intelligence and patience tempered with a notion that if you have a diagram in front of you as to what tubes to put where, can learn. With tubes thmall tube have a definite pattern to the pins and the sockets, with the large output tubes there is an additional plastic key / guide plus pattern for fit. You can use different brands, different numbers but staying close to stock there is the tube substitution guide. If you have a friend that knows Tubed equipment, you can always rely on them and the Forum.

JJK ---------------- JJK: While I think I understand your thoughts - one tubed, one SS system, opening up the units and looking at the room to get around the wiring is noticeable. With newer tube the room to get around has decreased. I'm mainly speaking of Vintage and its simplicity. If I'm in err, no problems then. I have a Yamaha CR-1000, and a 620. Along with NAD, Adcom - it seems that ther ARE more features but they require more circuitry. It's not a right or wrong, it's more of a comment on a number of SS units and the view of Society towards repair of units vs replacement.
  15. There is no pat answer. There are a number of variations: The first is whether you measure at the amp or at the end of you Speaker Cable, The next is resistance or ohms - an eight ohm speaker two way or three way is not flat throughout the spectrum. You can vary from 5- 10 ohms. Then where exactly is middle - with tolerances middle can vary the percentage allowed by the manufacturer. With the amp, whether you measure at 4,8, 16 ohms may vary. There are more, but this gives you an idea. I'm sorry that there's no ACTUAL answer, unless you measure output at half, see where your volume setting is. But then you have to make sure that the input signal matches the stated. And lastly you have to be sure how linear your volume tracking is along with what frequency you're putting out. A number of amps give a great output at 100 Hz with the variations at other frequencies. Welcome to the Forum!
  16. I don't know about Indy. I hope this gives what's wanted. Michael you're going to have to put your mattress on some of all of the speakers you own. If you have a basement consider some extra floor support for them Congrats to the two of you.
  17. Maybe a quick trip to an Opera? It is amazing what we do. Well one of the two has my congrats and maybe the other my sympathy. Hope it was worth the drive.
  18. The victim of the disposable society. I've ranted about technology change just for change sake. If it breaks, buy a new one. Keeps profits higher for Companies when you just toss and buy new. Cram every feature which translates into more to break down. Keep a Seven or Ten year supply of parts then you're up the creek. Specialized ICs, Chips make sure that the units - even McIntosh will not have the lifespan that Tube units still have. I give you credit for your work at repairing with the equipment that you state. A lot of persistence. I hope that your Family appreciates that Dr. Bill. Adding Daddy Dee's comments show that though you call it a rant, you've shown what Family is, and does. Early Happy FATHER's Day to the both of You.
  19. Living in the NorthEast, I have always found Vermont and New Hampshire to have a lot over New York State. New York State has been going down. Taxes, number of Elected Officials, Their Staff Size, Their Pay - outnumbers California, though we have a smaller Population. Right now a new Stadium is being built Downstate near NYC. It's costing those of us in Western and true Upstate 300 Million in tax money. But there's not enough money for proper infra-structure repair, Aid to Schools, Policing. Even trying to make the case for the money to be used, NYC Schools need repairs - not just band-aid fixes. NYC Police, Fire, Infra-Structure could use more aid. But that's the case agaist New York. Vermont and New Hampshire are very scenic, good tourism, especially in the Fall as the leaves turn = money coming in. One can also say Pennsylvania - in certain areas. As you investigate areas to potentially move, check the financial health of some of the local Hospitals. That can say a good deal about the economy of the area. Each section of the Country has unique pros and cons. Four years ago we were nailed with about 40 + inches of snow. They brought in Payloaders to deal with snow removal. Quite eerie the night they did my Street - just a wall of snow. Wish you the best in finding what you want. Hope you enjoy many great years, plus you find the perfect job. Always remember that each day you wake up home. A good number lose that as they live in a house, looking to move to a Home.

Problem is even though I paid for it, it wound up being registered in her name and there's trouble in paradise. She's got the mine, I've got the shaft.
  21. Okay, my 1985 Toyota Mini Pick-up may have bitten the dust today. If it's a major engine problem, it won't be worth the cost to fix. Looking realistically, I don't want to be strapped with payments. I would be putting up both of my McIntosh 240s. As addeds I have two Richardson Electronics matched quads of G. E. 6L6GC's Tele ECC 82s, 83s, 12 BH7s. Also one Pair of LW Cornwall IIs. Both have tube Cages. If you're near me and have a reliable vehicle, we can work it out. I'll know tomorrow, but I would want to Ponder. This will be an offer, sorry, lots going on, not a lot good. If a trade for vehicle, small is nice.
  22. Edwin: It's all Amy's fault. Ken: two to go please. 3300 and thank you all, may peace be with you always. Now if someone will answer his question. Win dodger
  23. Thanks for the thread. Relatives live next door to him. Heart of Gold is like seeing The Eagles last night. Was it yesterday or really thirty to thirty-five years ago? Want to believe Yesterday.
  24. I used to have to carry a cell and a pager. No longer. But, my wife bought a new cell phone, I look at the manual, and also the disc, then look at the owner manual for a C-20 Pre-Amp. I like the C-20 better.
