  4. Starting off with just a Lite. But I will join you in a while Tarheel, but no blue cheese here.
  5. Welcome to the forum David, and congrats on your new Forte's! I see no need to rush into changing anything immediately. I would spend a lot of time just listening and enjoying them with only tweaking their positioning and distance from your sweet spot and the distance from the wall. Maybe start with 18" from the wall. Throw on your favorite LP's and simply sit back relax and listen. If you find you are hearing anything peculiar or out of whack, note it and bring it back to your thread here with specifics and the helpful members here will continue to chime in. After all, you said you just got them from the original owner with boxes, etc.. Enjoy and welcome, again. Oh yeah, and post pictures of your new Forte's.

Wow, Marley & Blaze may get Frosty Paws for their birthday and some rawhide and pool time. I don't even get ribeyes on my birthday. Jake gets TWO! Very lucky dog.
  13. Very possible. Pulling it would be your best option (unfortunately). If that's the case you need to decide if you want to do just this repair or a major overhaul. Yes, I think that may be the case. It will have to wait. Talked to a local Plumbing Supply and he concurs. Asked if there was any "last resort" chemical to try to break it up. He didn't endorse it, but Muriatic Acid. We have some, but it scares me. O.K...thanks everyone for the insights and putting up with my boring topic/project. I will try not to pollute the thread with it any more, unless I have a victory, then I will let you know.
  14. Good guess, but no it is copper pipe, but I don't know if that cross critter behind the shower wall is galvanized, brass or what? Luckily we have been using the shower in the basement for the last year +. We can relate to bathing in the pond though. We had to resort to that 2 summers ago when the power was out for 4 days. Nice to have ponds. Even though we have a small, generator, it was not enough to power the well pump, so buckets of water from the ponds to flush the toilet and bathe in the pond. But tow weeks would get old. You are definitely right...better than nothing!! Katrina must have been unbelievably challenging. To keep with the cable theme for this thread, I was told Katrina put a great speaker wire company out of business...Sound King? Likely hundreds of business' may not have rebounded.
  15. This shower/tub is on the main floor almost directly above the well pressure tank and main water run. It's a pretty small, simple house with all the plumbing on one side of the house. The kitchen and main bath are directly above the water well pressure tank, water heater and water softener. The run from the pressure tank to the bathroom tub/shower is probably only 15 - 20 feet. We replaced the pressure tank about 5-7 years ago. Right, Carl, we could not get that 1/4" rooter cable past the bend. I did get a 1/4" zip tie up through the tub spout, past the elbow and up to between the hot and cold valves. Hitting something hard up there, and some rust coming out. I am wondering if that piece has some hard calcified deposits in it. That one piece cross pipe from hot to cold horizontally may be clogged up beyond the point of clearing. Saw something on Youtube with a guy talking about a "mistake plate"...a short cut for band-aiding the tile area to avoid a total gut and re-tile job. Good grief!
  16. Congratulations Outlaw! Good move and enjoy that beast!
  17. Yes...we have water flow, just not the pressure you would expect. My well pressure tank gauge is at 40 and I may need to run through the "adjusting pre-charge" steps, and check the actual pressure at the top of the tank valve. Didn't think this was the problem though, because we have decent pressure at the bathroom and kitchen sinks, and the basement shower.
  18. I got the tub spout off and tried rooting up there. My wife is picking up a longer (20 foot) rooter thing from Walmart. I haven't seen it yet, but hoping it has a rounded end to get past the 90 degree bends. Will likley remove the valves again and try going through there again with this new rooter thingy.
  19. About an hour ago or so I got some tubing to pour some The Works down the shower head, with the tub spout pipe capped so it sits there and works at it. May need to get some Roto-Rooter drain clog remover. Comes in a gel or liquid. Anyone have any good reports from using it? Anyway, just went back in there and didn't realize what I created...things are getting kinky now.
  20. Good morning and Happy Birthday MKP! Billy Bob, have you tried Cholula hot sauce? Quite mellow to me. On to cup # 3 and real work.
  21. Why yes it is. I looked yesterday, Pic is a little fuzzy on my end, but now that i go back and look, it's is an 8080, i bought mine in yokosuka Japan in 74, had that thing up to about three years ago. Reminds me of just how good they built things back in the 70s. 1st wife had a plant on top of it, and yes the water went straight into the top vent, dump the water out and dried it out for two weeks, fired it up and it ran for almost 30 years. Got rid of that wife shortly after that too....... :emotion-21: That alone could be just cause for "wife #1". Still not flowing right. Throwing in (and at) the towel for the night. I am wondering if that one piece hot/cold cross piece is just toast. After removing the valves again and turning the water back on with them removed, got a small chunk of solder or brass through. Is this cross piece made of brass or what? Maybe it is just gunked up beyond the point of clearing. If that's the case, it will have to wait for a full remodel. 10:45 already? My, how time flies when your having so much "fun"...Yep, plumbing sucks!
  22. Not crazy at all...tried that the first time and will do it again. Thought about the compressor, but didn't try it, but 3 minds work better than one...here we go. Will report back in a bit.
  23. O.K....think we are making progress...hot & cold valves are clean. Tub spout and shower head removed. Trying to rooter up through the tub spout pipe and down the shower head to between the hot & cold where it "T's" up to the shower. Wire is too rigid. The better half got our spool of Stihl line trimmer line. Still can't make the bend. Any ideas as to what to use to get through there? We need something with a round head on it to make the 90 degree turns. Nest step, maybe turn the water off again and remove the hot & cold valves and try to go through both of those to the middle??
