  1. Hello all, I have a Klipsch Cinema 800 for a few weeks now. I am using the ARC from an older Samsung JS8500 LED TV. My issue is the sound is not clear. It has a slight muffled and compressed sound to it. I checked my firmware levels and they are current to the ones on the Klipsch webpage. I have tried the various presets (Standard, Direct, Movie, Music, etc.) I cannot find one that mids and highs sound better than my $75 bluetooth speaker. I am nearing my return window and I need to decide on how to remedy this. I have read reviews and comments on the great sound quality so I want to get mine to sound great. I have tried playing music from my iPhone and it really does not sound very good. Muffled and compressed and a sounds like a AGC limiter. I am not really interested in headbanging loud volume but I do want it clean and have the dialog easy to understand. Any advice? Open a case with Klipsch or is this just the nature of the beast and I should look elsewhere?
  2. hi @audiophile18, The Cinema Series soundbars are being phased out and are being replaced with the Flexus Soundbars as @billybob pointed out. The Cinema Series has had its issues: most notable are the many firmware issues and general hardware reliability. The current firmware versions are quite reliable and have addressed most of the issues found in earlier firmware versions. Hardware reliability is another matter. Some owners have had two or three replacements while others have no problems at all (yet). The the most notable remaining issue that affects the Cinema 700, 800, & 1200 is the loss of audio which can be be be restored by power cycling the soundbar. I have a Cinema 800. I still encounter this issue every three or four weeks, much less frequently though than the almost daily occurrence when the issue first surfaced. The other issue involves the centre channel dialog which Klipsch never completely resolved. Very few, if any, of the hardware issues plaguing the Cinema Series soundbars involve the Klipsch speakers. Almost all are due to issues with the electronics. All owners agree: They sound fantastic! I know there are some great deals on Cinema series soundbars now but my advice would be to wait for the Flexus Soundbars. The entry level models will be released first followed by the higher end models a few months down the road, just has Klipsch did with with the BAR series and the Cinema series.
  3. I've been using the Klipsch Cinema 800 soundbar for a few months now and I have to say that I haven't encountered sound quality like this anywhere else. It really deserves to be praised.
  4. I have not had any issues with my Connect App but I don't use it very often. The equalizer function is pretty basic: it allows you to raise or lower levels in three ranges (lower, mid, & trebil). When I had my Cinema 600 I found the effectiveness of the equalizer to be disappointing. It's better on the Cinema 800 but not great. Since the equalization is done in the soundbar, the results depend pretty much on the soundbar.
  5. I'm not sure if this will work, so please bare with me. I had trouble logging in so I found one of my old post to reply to. Life got busy with opening up a cabinet business and I didn't make too many changes to my system. I also haven't been in contact with the good friends and people on this Forum that helped me out with my modifications. I may mention names later. I'm finally going to get into Dolby Atmos and purchased a different processor to do so. Also getting ready to buy some different equipment. Next purchase will be the Magnetar UPD-800 Blu-ray player. I have been trying to purchase some Klipsch Cinema Surround speakers, but I'm having trouble finding a dealer. I have to search a little harder. I'm thinking of the KPT-12-VB, KPT-8-VB, Kpt-1200-VBM . I need 2 surrounds, and I might use them for 4 ceiling mounted Atmos speakers. Have to see what kind of frequency response is actually sent to the those Atmos channels. With these changes I'm going to sell 2 pairs of LaScalas , 1 pair of Klipschorns. The Klipschorns are stock, they used to be my benchmark speaker that I used when modifying other speakers. I havent listened to them in years. The LaScalas are my front and rear height speakers which I can't use as surrounds and ceiling speakers. I'll probably list these in the Garage sale section one of these days before going to eBay. That's all I'm going to say for now. I want to see if this reply post. Then I'll try starting a new one. I have to search the members list to see if some of the old timers like me are still active here. May have to change my old pass word, and email address. Q-Man
  6. I just found this thread because my Cinema 600 died one month short of 3 years. I have to give props to Klipsch in my case because they sent me a Cinema 800 for replacement free of charge and told me they don’t want the 600 back and I can do with it as I see fit. So…. I plan to attempt the repair on this thread and use in another room. Thanks for all the info here and I will follow up after the new power supply comes.
  7. I'm new to the brand am gonna probably rock this setup for awhile as I've heavily neglected my home audio for 7 years I've done much research myself into these but want more opinions I would get the higher end cinema 1200 and the rp series sub but that's simply out of my budget any input would be appreciated 😁
  8. Nobody has addressed the "error reading name" portion of OP's post. I'm seeing the same issue where the Connect app sees Cinema 800 soundbar, connects to wifi, goes through the Alexa config screen, but stumbles upon reading the system name and gives the error, "There was an error reading the name. Please try again." It happens even after doing a Factory Reset on the soundbar. Perhaps a Klipsch rep can address the issue. Cheers.
  9. The firmware values for sur r and sur t are not matching what the latest firmware is supposed to be I have the cinema 800 with the surround 3 rear speakers I also run a extra wired sub that for some reason has a loud pop when ever I turn my tv off any advice on these two problems thx
  10. Hello @R1c0, @itsmeray, @CH315, @Dlayhue01 I just came across this thread otherwise I would have replied sooner. I use the Surround 3's with my soundbars. First, I had a BAR 48 so I know all about those issues. I too was given a Cinema 600 as a warranty replacement so I know all about the Cinema 600 issues too. My Cinema 600 died completely after a couple of months. I had just updated the firmware to the latest version a few days before Klipsch pulled that update. While Klipsch is pretty good about providing warranty replacements, if you are within the warranty period, the Cinema 600 doesn't really qualify as a replacement for the BAR 48. The BAR has more features than does the Cinema 600 and, while a warranty replacement doesn't have to be the same model, it does have to have compatible or better features than the model it is replacing. Both the BAR series and the Cinema series soundbars have major reliability issues, especially the BAR 48 and the Cinema 600. The most recently manufactured Cinema 600's are labeled Rev 3. 😞 When I pointed out to Klipsch that the BAR 48 specs had features not present in the Cinema 600, they replaced my dead Cinema 600 with a Cinema 800 that had just been released. Through all of this, my Surround 3's never gave me any problems. Here are some suggestions how to troubleshoot Surround 3 pairing issues. Move the Surround 3's close to the soundbar, say 3 to 5 feet, just in case there are any signal strength or interference issues. Move any bluetooth or Wi-Fi devices that could cause interference away from your soundbar. Make sure the switch on the back of the Surround 3's are set correctly: One should be in the "L" position; the other in the "R" position. If only one of the Surround 3 speakers is paired, try reversing the switches on the back so that left becomes right and right becomes left and try to pair them again. If the same physical speaker again pairs successfully, that would suggest the other speaker has an issue. If however the other speaker pairs successfully it would suggest that the soundbar is only able to pair to a specific channel (either the left or the right) and the failure to pairing is due to an issue with the soundbar. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you read these Cinema 600 articles.
  11. MMurg: Thank you. The Professional / Cinema lines are likely perfect Klipsch ATMOS speakers for many folks here in our situation: trying to match large Heritage speakers in larger than average home rooms. Did not know about these until seeing your links and others I found to follow! I would encourage others to post their suggestions as well. Did see many web postings that more or less stated matching ATMOS speakers to mains is not important, perhaps due to limited use. Listened to official demo video of Dolby ATMOS (about 2 minutes long). Definitely heard lots of sound via my sound check little speakers (just to make sure my new AVR worked ok). Also listened to 1917 BluRay with my ears next to these speakers to demo the ATMOS speaker channels. Very disappointed about how little sound actually came through these old crappy tiny speakers via the BluRay disc. Friends and some web posts had warned me about setting my hopes for ATMOS too high, pun intended. I could not find prices on some of these Klipsch speakers, eg the 8 inch woofer 801's. Most seemed to be at least $800.00 each bought new. However, I am not confident about my moldings holding more than 5-10 lbs per speaker and trying to avoid anything beyond a picture hanging technique like you see at museums. Only as a last resort would I try to drill through the walls hoping to find the "unfindable" studs: 1890s house with some mix of plastered and sheet-rocked walls. Plan B is to paint and screw 2x4 10 foot or so stud-board to furniture up front and to a rear bookcase, plus clamping it to fireplace shelf in the rear. Then mount the ATMOS speakers. The KPT-801's were about the smallest and were 18 lbs each, per the Cinema brochure. The consumer grade Klipsch 500s are intended for use on top of a newer floor-standing speaker and for firing up to the ceiling to bounce the ATMOS back to folks. The SVS ATMOS speakers seemed more of less designed for high wall or ceiling mounting https://www.svsound.com/products/prime-elevation. Other web suggestions included Focal Sibs https://www.avsforum.com/threads/svs-prime-elevation-for-atmos.2975330/, but no mention of which model. I would need to use creative mounting to angle any of these to my couch area. I understand the Dolby ATMOS dispersion "requirements" in order to cover a reasonable listening area per the Dolby ATMOS spec sheets obtained via the Dolby website. But, to be honest, due to the weight limits, I am starting to think that regular small and light weight speakers might be best for my circumstances, even if the dispersion is somewhat suboptimal. Being more mainstream, pricing would be lower as well. I recently bought a pair of ELAC Connex speakers for the kitchen or bathroom. They sounded great at DC AudioFest in November. I compared them to my smaller and much lighter bargain bin Klipsch ProMedia 2.0s that are also bluetooth. In my bedroom the ELACs were only slightly better sounding overall (though much better looking and more complex design plus additional input / output choices). So maybe speakers with 5-6" drivers might be the best compromise. The 801's were listed as having a sensitivity of 96 dB. I think most smaller speakers will have sensitivities in the upper 80s (dB), 87 for SVS ATMOS. So another potentially major issue is that few smaller speakers will be close to the efficiency of the Khorns, LSs, Belle, or Heresy's. So getting enough dB out of small speakers (without blowing the voice coils) to match the big boys could be a real amplification issue. Pioneer has MCACC and DIRAC (not the bass correction one) built in for room correction, but there must be limits to corrections. Very glad for additional comments or suggestions. Might help others in the future as well. From NOLA with love.
  12. If you own a Cinema soundbar and it is still within the warranty period it is "supported". If your soundbar has a defect and it is still within the warranty period Klipsch will provide a "warranty replacement". They do not repair customer's soundbars. If they provide a warranty replacement you have to return your defective one. Klipsch doesn't guarantee that your warranty replacement will be new; it may be a refurbished unit. I owned a BAR 48, Cinema 600, and a Cinema 800. Over the life of these products Klipsch provided firmware updates to address specific issues and provide new features so it was quite possible that your soundbar was beyond its warranty period but you were able to install new firmware. You may notice a revision (rev) number on a some soundbars. That indicates a change to the manufacturing process. Perhaps there were reliability issues with certain components and Klipsch addressed those issues. Those are the only changes I'm aware of that Klipsch makes to existing soundbars. When Klipsch decides to do a major upgrade to products like the BAR series and Cinema series soundbar they do it by introducing a new product. Prior to introducing a new product it is a common practice for manufacturers to discontinue an existing product and sometimes significantly reduce the price to clear out existing inventory. I have not seen any official notice from Klipsch stating that Cinema soundbar models are being discontinued but I do see a number of indications that lead me to believe that is indeed the case. There are only a few Cinema models still on the Klipsch website available for purchase. Some retailers have told customers that (some of) the Cinema series soundbars are being discontinued. The price of the Cinema soundbars has been reduced significantly. I have not heard of any announcements from Klipsch about new soundbars to replace the Cinema series.
  13. I'm facing an issue with my Cinema 700 system (Costco version of Cinema 800), which is connected to a Sony X91CJ TV. Recently, I added a pair of Surround 3 speakers to the setup. However, I've been experiencing audio issues even before integrating the Surround 3, and this persists when WIFI is disconnected, suggesting that signal interference is unlikely to be the cause.
  14. Hello @dissatisfied buyer and welcome to the Klipsch Community forums. Klipsch has been very good at honouring their warranty and providing warranty replacements. I have a Cinema 800 with Surround 3s. The current firmware resolves most of the major firmware issues although the soundbar still must be power cycled occasionally to regain audio. Once you manually install the firmware Klipsch provide and connect your soundbar to your network (wired or WiFi), the soundbar will automatically update the firmware when newer firmware becomes available.
  15. I have a cinema 800 soundbar ive experienced alot of sound not coming through. Have to unplug then plug back in. Still have problems. Klipsch only fix is sending you a file you download to a flash drive. Then try to update what a hassle. I see alot of people with issues on these bars. They are expensive. Klipsch should of done better. Im highly dissapointed. I bought mine directly from Klipsch. Hope they honor what they sell and fix this.
  16. >Is there an EQ in the connect app you can use with the Cinema 800? As far as i can tell there is no EQ, but confimration would be nice.
  17. Connect via BT works nice ... but as soon as i get to the name your product screen it loads a bit and then gets an error "error reading name". soundbar is on the latest FW upgrade and i tried several phones, did a full reset on the soundbar and tried older versions of klipsch connect. so far no luck. Is there an EQ in the connect app you can use with the Cinema 800? Or is all that comes after naming the bar, the registrations and thats that? Overall a very bug product ... sometimes just wont turn on via HDMI ARC. needs to be disconnected from power and restartet to get it working again.....
  18. Cinema 1200-800 FW updates are in the works , Cinema 600 FW cant be too far away , it is actually much easier for klipsch to do a software fix for a 600 versus the 1200 -800 . .
  19. klipsch are working on Firmware updates for the Cinema 1200-800 , Cinema 600 does not show any pending issues online . Cinema 1200 https://www.klipsch.com/products/cinema-1200-sound-bar-and-surround-system ISSUE: CINEMA 1200 REMOTE IS NOT ADJUSTING REAR HEIGHT OR FRONT HEIGHT VOLUME. SOLUTION: A FIRMWARE UPDATE IS BEING TESTED AND WILL BE IMPLEMENTED OVER THE AIR OR VIA USB UPDATE. THE KLIPSCH CONNECT APP CAN ALSO ADJUST ALL CHANNEL VOLUMES. 20. My Klipsch dealer from whom I purchased my soundbar told me last week that the Cinema 800 & 1200 have officially been discontinued (in Canada at least). Speculation is that the Cinema 600 is soon to follow.
  21. The consensus is they have been known to inject things at times to steer those into other brands especially after they started going with a paid subscriber model. No one that owns Cinema 800's I spoke with understands what they posted. It is true that Atmos gets mixed to the the left and right mains due to not having dedicated Atmos speakers like the Cinema 1200's, but the mains do indeed play discrete when they are supposed to. My son loves the setup (I added an unused R120-SW to it, but not the surround speakers).
  22. My suggestion would be to return it to wherever you bought it, if it's not too late. The BAR series had (has?) lots of reliability issues. Your Surround 3's will work with the newer Cinema series 600, 700, & 800. While these soundbars have also had their issues most have now been resolved. They are a big improvement over the BAR series. What's more, the price of these soundbars has recently been reduced significantly. The Cinema 700/800 would be a replacement for the BAR 48.
  23. If you wish to submit a bug report you should Submit a request to Klipsch Product Support. The responses you receive in these forums are from other users, like yourself, who may have information they are willing to share but we don't have access to any internal Klipsch documentation, especially any information about how a feature is supposed to work. As you might imagine this makes it extremely difficult to determine whether a specific behaviour is normal or due to a bug. As Klipsch has updated their firmware the soundbar behaviour has changed. For example, if you wanted to check a setting selecting it used to activate the next option then show you that setting. Klipsch finally changed that behaviour so that the first press of a button did nothing other than show the current setting. The setting was only changed when the button was pressed a second time. While the sound modes do change the sound, Klipsch has said little about how this works or exactly how the sound has been altered. This is especially true for the Cinema 700, 800, & 1200 soundbars that have many more modes from which to choose.
  24. This is a good thread with some answers: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/costco-exclusive-klipsch-reference-cinema-system-with-dolby-atmos-5-1-4.3219069/ What to upgrade really depends on a lot of things. For most they go with better subs, those that can hit below 20Hz...but if you live in an apartment that could be an issue. Then they will upgrade mains/center, but if you don't have the room then that's an impossible upgrade. For $400 that is a steal though. I just snagged a Cinema 800 for $399 and this system will smoke that, sure you need a receiver but that is low-hanging fruit. I always check accessories4less.com for receivers. They are one of the best bang for bucks and you get a warranty (unlike ebay). You can pick up a RX-V385 there for only $199. For a $300 budget you can get either the RX-V585 or RX-V680. I used to run Yamaha, but now I run Denon. If you can push the budget $99 you can get into a RX-V685 which brings more especially better YPAO RSC and another $100 can get you into a RX-A2A which offers more including HDR10+ as well as part of their premium lineup so all the electronics inside will be better. They have your reference system for $100 more than you paid though, like I said that was a really good purchase if those fill your needs and if you just wanted something to start out with will sound great as you upgrade and in the end you are not out a lot of money.
  25. I have the exact same problem with my Cinema 800 and it has been this way since I bought it in 2021. I also have the surround 3s but I am using an LG C1 for my TV. I have seen this reported for the Cinema 1200 as well but I have yet to see a root cause or a fix identified. I have done troubleshooting with Klipsch support but nothing resolves the issue.
