  1. Hi to you all. I am brand new to this forum and would like to thank the community in advance for all the great information I have already found here. I'm turning to you because I'm pretty disappointed with my local hifi-specialists. It seems that no one really knows how to approach the Fortes. I am looking for a suitable solution for my stereo setup. I currently have a Denon AV amp (6500) with enough power that I use for home cinema. I have a 9.1 T+A HighEnd Speaker environment set up which is great for cinema. The FL and FR are my Klipsch Forte 4. Since a few month I use 95% of my audio-time with the Fortes for music only. All kinds of sources but i have not connected my MM yet. The readon is part of this inquiry. And surprise surprise; I can't get the quality and depth out of the highly digitized Denon that I'd like to give the Fortes to sound as they should. Stereo sounds flat, cramped, at the limit, the highs struggle and the basses drive in the minimum. Mids are ok. I had already connected and tested various integrated amps and power amps to my preout and tested them, and the result was what I had hoped for. But I have not found the perfect match. Now the question is, if you could give me a recommendation from your side? I'm wavering between a power amp and an integrated amp with tone control and, if possible, a bypass for the tone control. Tone control therefore, because I want to re-define the linear sound of the Denon myself. Bypass/Tone Off because I would like to integrate the Speakers into my 9.1 setup, obviously. Of course, this is not possible with the PowerAmp. Of course there is also the question of Tube, Class A, Class AB etc. But there I am rather stress-free. As long as my Fortes are served well. But dize matters to me. I would like an amplifier in the standard hi-fi size, not a Mini or Compact sized device. I have a nice and ventilated cabinet. My budget is somewhere around 2500 USD / 3000€. But currently i am running circles. Integrated amp vs. power amp ? And if Power Amp, which one and if Integrated which design (Hybrid?) Or even a Vintage Device such as the Pioneer SA 9500ii ? Nice device but my local hifi-geek does not recommend it for my purpose (!?). He recomments the Cambridge 851W which is a 350WpC Power Amp. Foes this make sense? Not to me (yet). Long story short,I am grateful for any advise to make my decision easier and help me out of this forest. Btw; listened to T+A Class A which was good but unfortunately not perfect from a connectivity poit of view (no main In). Parasound Hint 6, Magnat MA 900, Vincent 237 Hybrid might be something? But the differences in performance and features are so enormous that I am confused. Only Parasound provides Tone Control and even SubOut. But I can't test it over here. Any hints, ideas, suggestions? Thanks Peter Catta
  2. The Set-Up So, I just made the switch from the pathetic world of sound-bars and switched 😎 to A/V Receiver + x2 (Klipsch's RP-8060FA) Floor-standing Speakers (R/L - 150W RMS / 600W Peak) + (x1 (75W RMS/300W Peak) Center Speaker + x2 (45W RMS) Surround Back (R/L) speakers + x1 (150W) 10" Sub [taken from the Klipsch Reference Cinema Bundle]). All of my speakers from by Klipsch. We are going to use the system for both movies and music. Challenge: I'm looking for a solid A/V Receiver to connect my entire system to, utilizing the full capabilities of the speakers, but also being smart and cost effective. Right now, I'm thinking about getting the Denon X3700H + getting a 200W amp to connect the pre-out of the Denon receiver to. And all of these speakers are going to be connected using 16 gauge OFC wire and banana plugs. My Questions: What's the most cost effective, high-quality approach to accomplishing this? Is the Denon X3700H Receiver the right way to go? What amp should I purchase? Is there anything else I should think about investing into to that can enhance the performance of my system? Any and all advice is welcomed and appreciated! Disclaimer: I'm super green into this field right now (like, 2 days in - 2 calls to Klipsch customer support and several YouTube videos of knowledge now).
  3. Klipsch people, I have a set of KG4s that I purchased. I want to get an amp for them. Just sold my TX-8050. Right now I'm using a Klipsch Powergate. Feel free to comment. Take me to the cleaners. I'm doing the best I can. On a budget, if you know what I mean. I was thinking about the Onkyo a-9110. A guy on a website that it wouldn't be able to drive the KG4s well. Is this true? So I went back to looking at Yamahas. I want to try to keep it under $330. Right now, I've got a guy who will sell me a slightly used a-s501 for $330. Got to drive an hour to get it. An option, but there are important members of my family who think that is a waste of my time. Then there's some a-s500s laying around on internet sites for even less. I'm not sure I need the DACs in the a-s501. Then there's the receiver r-n50x and r-s50x. And then, finally, there's always an a-s301. Any recommendations here? I feel a bit bewildered. I know some of you are going to tell me to test them, but I live in the middle of nowhere, and not a lot of time. I want things to sound good. I don't need to overpower my middle-sized living room. Help me. Please.
  4. Hello. I have a Marantz PM7005 integrated amplifier: 60 W x 2 (8 Ω/ohms load) 80 W x 2 (4 Ω/ohms load) As I understand, the two speakers are 8 ohms each equaling a total of 4ohms. The RP-8000Fs each are “up to 150w” each. Obviously, those are general numbers and there are other factors. I have pondered getting the mentioned speakers. I want great sound but I am also not on a perfection quest. With that said, I am also interested in other similar amps that are in a similar price range as my current Marantz (was) with the same basic features. Obviously, power output is a consideration. Basically the $1k-1.5k range. —no receiver —no A/V —DAC such as the PM7005 has. I realize that it’s not stellar. —solid state —I like the analog and source direct features that the PM7005 has —I use a turntable, CD and computer/iPhone —I’m not familiar about possible Bluetooth features and what they add to the cost. If basically nothing, I would consider. However, I am fine with some sort of usb, including usb-c
  5. I have paired a NAD C298 stereo amp with my Forte IV speakers. The amp has an option for the gain -- either fixed or variable. The Forte IV's recommends a 100 watt amp . The NAD C298 runs 185 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Questions: Should I run fixed gain? (The gain is 28.6 db.) Or should I run a variable with a lower gain? If the latter, what should the gain be set at/how should I select the gain? I ask these questions because my prior speakers were powered Elac NAVIS, which had a gain option (low or high), and I always preferred the low setting. My fear is that if I set the gain TOO low I might risk clipping. But I also worry that 185 watts with a 28.5 db gain might be OVERPOWERING the speakers (and, at a minimum, introducing distortion). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  6. FOR SALE: Pioneer SA-9500 Integrated Amplifier $1325 $1225 $1100 Completely restored by Paul Hovenga of Many Moons Audio (@paul79) in January 2017. I can deliver it to the Pilgrimage in Hope in May. Specs here: https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/pioneer/sa-9500.shtml
  7. Craigslist link https://tippecanoe.craigslist.org/ele/d/frankfort-klipsch-chorus-ii-speakers/7298088443.html I am located in Frankfort, IN 46041 I have a pair of Chorus II speakers for sale. One is missing the woofer. All other speakers are intact and everything is original. (*SPEAKERS SOLD*) I also have a pair of Adcom GFA-565 mono amps, an Adcom GFP-565 preamp, and an Adcom GCD-575 cd player. I know the amps will need repaired. The research I've done showed that these amps had problems with capacitors leaking and causing failures and burning up speakes. This is likely why the one woofer is missing. I did try these amps and I just get static/hissing sound. The distortion light is always on too. If that helps anybody. The preamp does work as far as I can remember but it is "staticy" when the volume is adjusted. I haven't tried the CD player for years and don't know if it works or not. There is a guy that repairs the amps at https://www.ebcelectronics.com/Adcom-GFA-565-Repair-Service.html My dad got everything around 1991 I believe. I always wanted to replace the woofer and repair the other equipment. I just don't have the space or money for them right now and have had them sotting around for years. It's just time to let them go. Pictures I have are over 2MB. So, see pictures in above Craigslist post. ***UPDATE 3/28*** I DID SELL THE SPEAKERS 3/30 All sold
  8. Hi guys, Selling a mint condition, modified MC30L tube integrated, 2-channel amplifier. About a year old. Very light use. I replaced all 8 preamp tubes with GE 5654’s and all 4 driver tubes with matched quad Russian Tung Sol, EL-34’s. Including a Signal Cable power cord. It was driving my Klipsch RF7iii’s, and sounded amazing but I just bought a Primaluna EVO 400. Asking $800. I’ll deliver within 50 miles of Boston, MA.
  9. he BasX A-700 delivers 110 watts RMS per channel at less than 0.1% THD into 8 ohms (two channels driven); THD+N of less than 0.02%; and a signal to noise ratio of 120 dB referenced to full power. This makes the BasX A-700 the ideal amplifier to power a great sounding 7.1 channel surround sound system, a great way to upgrade the power amplifier section of your avr please shipping cost negotiable Power Output (two channels driven): 110 watts RMS per channel; 20 Hz – 20 kHz; THD < 0.1%; into 8 Ohms. 210 watts RMS per channel; 1 kHz; THD < 1%; into 4 Ohms. Power Output (all channels driven): 80 watts RMS per channel; 20 Hz – 20 kHz; THD < 0.1%; into 8 Ohms.
  10. Hi! I've recently added a klipsch sub (r-115sw) to my home audio system, and I was wondering wether to plug my sub and amp though LFE or a RCA Y-splitter. I mainly use my system for music and in regards to that, i've heard differing statements. Some say LFE is the best option for movies and RCA the best option for music. Others even say that for an untrained ear like mine, I wouldn't even notice the difference between LFE and RCA. So what i'm asking is, if my main use for my system is listening to music, should I connect my sub and amp through LFE or RCA? If any of you have any suggestions as to what cable would be good/compatible with my sub, I would be grateful. Thanks!
  11. Hi, I have a pair of KLF -10 & KLF - 30's in a large 1500 sq ft room with high ceilings, like to play music loud. What is the best amplifier size/ brand/ model to power my speakers. I had a NAD C 375BEE (300 watts, i think) to run speakers (never sounded "great"). I don't have pre-amp. Please forward your idea's on the best amp (do I need a pre-amp, which one?) to give me the best sound out my speakers. Thanks!
  12. Fronts 2 RF-7 iii, Center RC-64 iii, 2 Surrounds RP-250 S , 2 Subs R-115 SW, 2 In-ceiling Speakers came with the house believe they are Martin Logan , Denon 4400 H Sounds good am concerned may be underpowered. Was advised to get an Amplifier, looking for feedback as to what is recommended? Think I need a 5 or 7 channel amplifier with 200 per channel at 8 ohms. ( Not Sure) Feedback and comments are highly appreciated.
  13. Hello Klipsch Audio Community, I run a small independent music venue that hosts electroacoustic performances as well as club nights. Our house sound system is comprised of 4 La Scala speakers with 8 matching bass cabinets in a quadraphonic array. I have been running this system on budget (yorkville) amplifiers which have sounded great thus far, but I have recently decided to upgrade the amplifier to really get the room sounding as good as possible. The space is a second floor wood warehouse and the ceiling and walls have all been insulated with sound proofing material – the room sounds fantastic however I know that the amps are my current bottle-neck for making it sound even better. So my question to the community is what amplifiers would be ideal in this situation, considering the speakers are used somewhat industrially (typically around 100 dBa). I'm especially intrigued by by switching to tube amps, however I don't necessarily care for legacy brands such as McIntosh where I feel like name adds a premium onto the cost... Or maybe I'm wrong? (Please ignore speakers in centre of room)
  14. Hi All. Can I ask what you all think of getting an external amp for the config below. Receiver Denon X3300W 5.1.2 system Fronts Klipsch 250Fs Centre Klipsch 450C Surrounds Klipsh 402S Front Upfiring Atmos- 2 Klipsch 500SA Sub - 1 only - SVS SB-2000 Room Size 3000 cubic feet but adjacent to an open air kitchen I usually use this for movie watching all kinds from UHD blu rays to 4k netflix and amazon prime. And also for spotify premium. Have a PS4 and a blu ray player connected. Room correction with Denon's Audyssey I sometimes feel that in action sequences, the stage is not that clear. Dialogue is muddled. When watching gravity, dialogue gets lost during the action sequences. Its definitely better when I had a smaller centre (the 450c is an upgrade) but wondering if an external amp would help. If I had an external amp for at least the Front's and centre, would I feel the difference or am I just wasting money given that I understand Klipsch speakers do not need much power. Also could I still do audyssey room correction with an external amp? Finally what would you recommend. Was looking at Outlaw 5000 to power LFC and surrounds and keep the Atmos speakers to the Denon. Looking for your wisdom! Thank you very much
  15. Russound D1650 Anyone have experience with this amp, D850, &/or Russound? Both amps
  16. Folks, Note: I am a newbie so if this post doesn't exactly fit the website, please excuse my lack of experience or maybe lack of judgement. So, I saw an article in Stereophile sometime back about a solid state amp by Akitika.com that could be built at home similar to a Dynaco or Hafler. Stereophile gave it a really favorable review, so I decided to give it a try. The kit cost me $340 all-in including shipping, plus about an additional $50 in soldering tools and materials. You can buy it assembled for a little over $500, but I opted to watch a few Youtube videos on soldering and take the plunge. It was surprisingly easy to build the kit and the assembly instructions are incredibly detailed. I don't know how many hours I actually had in it, but I did it in my spare time and enjoyed it. My soldering looks like crap, but it works! It's worth pointing out that the fellow who sells this kit (Dan Joffe) backs it with awesome support and he sources as much material from USA manufacturers as possible. In addition to his well documented assembly manual, he answered about two dozen questions I emailed him. Plus, he walked me through fixing a couple of mistakes I had made. I should mention I had never soldered anything aside from plumbing fixtures before this. So you are probably asking, "How does it sound?" The answer is surprisingly musical! It doesn't sound quite like a tube amplifier, but it is pretty neutral and really pairs nicely with my Cornwalls. It also sounds good on my KG 5.5s, but the Cornwalls really bloom with this amp. I was surprised when the music came out sounding pretty close to my little First Watt J2 (Nelson Pass designed amp). I am not saying it's the equal of the First Watt J2, BUT considering it cost me about 5x less, I find myself impressed. It certainly sounds better than my mid 1980's Denon gear, which is still pretty nice stuff. So, if you are looking for a fun project to do by yourself or with your kid, this just might be the trick. Plus, if building this kit with a family member hooks them on 2-channel hi-fi and gets them to pair the amp up with some of PWK's fine products, then that in my mind is a project worth doing. Gotta get the next generation interested in real hi-fi! Here are a couple of links which will take you to the Akitika web page and the Stereophile review. https://www.akitika.com/index.php https://www.stereophile.com/content/akitika-gt-102-power-amplifier Best, Frozmeister P.S. Here's a picture of the finished product.

  18. Vincent silver 35 wpc tube integrated amplifier with remote in excellent condition. Original owner. I bought as factory-sealed NOS less than a year ago. Unlike most Vincent products, this amp is all tube with 1-12AU7 and 2-12AX7 preamp tubes and 4-EL-34 power tubes. Auto-biases for long tube life and easy tube rolling. I will ship with original tubes and the upgraded tubes I found worked best with my setup: 1-JJ Electronics ECC803S and 2-Genalex Gold Lion ECC82/B749 for the preamp and 4-Genalex Gold Lion KT-77 power tubes. All tubes were tested before purchasing; the JJ came from Tube Depot and the rest from Upscale Audio. For those wanting to spend less and tube roll on their own, I will reduce the price by $100 and will ship with only the stock tubes. Unit has 4 RCA inputs plus a REC out (for devices with own volume control). Separate connections for 4 or 8 ohm speakers. The remote selects input, adjusts volume, and mutes; it is all-aluminum and heavy! The amp itself is a beast (47.4 lbs.) and delivers excellent timbre from a black background. Sacrifice at $800 with all tubes; $700 with factory-originals only. The amp and remote are like new. Includes power cord, owner’s manual, original factory packaging, and a solid metal block of a remote. From a non-smoking non-pet home. Delivery to be negotiated with buyer. Please see Audiogon under the same user name for my perfect reviews, and feel free to direct questions my way.
  19. Hi I need some advice with setting up of my audio system for my drawing room which also doubles up as living room . I own Klipsch F 30 Pair ( Tower Speakers ) as mentioned below https://www.klipsch.com/products/f-30-floorstanding-speaker I would like to plug this to play both analog & digital music. I was looking for various amp options ( 2 Channel ) to plug it in but have recieved reviews for Yamaha ( RN 303 / RN 602 ) / DENON / Have been recently suggested Rialto 600 and Quad Elite QSP Suggestions would be welcome as my knowledge is limited and looking to set it up for the 1st time. I also intend to attach a streamer like - Yamaha WXC 50 for bluetooth / wifi / streaming Thanks Gautam
  20. I'm thinking of buying the R-26F pair of speakers, and now i'm looking for a decent amplifier that matches well (in terms of power handling / impedance) with the speakers. What do you say for Marantz PM5005 ? Could you recommend any other value for moeny amplifier that suits well with the R-26F speakers?
  21. WTS Marantz M7055 Amplifier. This unit is in like new condition. I had planned to add more speakers to my surround system and never got around to it. 5 Channels Asking for the unit. I have original box, manual and receipt. Prefer to sell local. May consider shipping. Very clean and neutral sounding amp. I could detect no coloration to the sound. Cost versus quality I believe this is a good deal for someone. I have a pair of Cornwall 3 speakers we can demo the amp on. At least until they are sold. I live just north of Louisville, KY in Indiana. PM me if interested. More pictures upon request.
  22. This is a nearly perfect Marantz Model 1060 integrated amp with black faceplate. I think the black is a fantastic look because it really sets the knobs off against the background. It had a complete restoration with high quality components, here is the rundown - Installed Panasonic FC 105C rated capacitors on power supply board Removed glue residue from power supply board Installed CDE Quencharc snubber capacitor on power switch to prevent arcing Upgraded filter capacitor to Nichicon Gold Tune 10000uF/80V, installed film bypass capacitor Upgraded coupling capacitors to Mundorf M-Lytic 4700uF for enhanced bass response Installed WIMA film and Elna Silmic II capacitors on preamp board Upgraded preamp board local filter from 100uF to 220uF Nichicon Fine Gold Installed gain matched OnSemi KSA992/KSC1845 transistors on preamp board Upgraded phono board local filter from 100uF to 220uF Installed Nichicon Muse and WIMA film capacitors on phono board Replaced unreliable 2SC458 transistors on phono board with gain matched KSC1845 Installed Nichicon Muse capacitors on amplifer board Upgraded input coupling capacitors to WIMA film types Replaced small signal transistors on amplifier with OnSemi KSA733C/KSC945C Replaced varistors with 1N4148 diodes Set bias and clipping to factory specifications 39 capacitors, 16 transistors, 2 diodes, 1 snubber capacitor replaced This amplifier sounds great, and performed well on bench testing. All functions and inputs are working correctly. The 1060 is a legend in the Marantz lineup for good reason, it is a warm and enjoyable sounding amp. It's very well built, easy to service, and loaded with features. The 1060 is a capacitor coupled design, so expect a "thump" from your speakers when powering the unit on. The top cover has a nice satin black powdercoat. It comes with a reproduction WC-10 case in walnut. It is beautiful and best of all, doesn't smell like smoke that many of the the old ones suffer from. You would be hard pressed to ever find one this nice. I ship with Fedex ground and it will be very, very well packed for shipping. This is a very heavy piece with the cabinet. I'm guessing at 40lbs. Ships to CONUS only. All sales final with no returns. This one was completely rebuilt by Jailtime on AudioKarma site. He is a long time rebuilder and knows his stuff. Thanks so much. Please consider the case alone was over $180. Labor and parts $250. Price is $750 plus $50 flat rate Fedex with insurance to Conus. Local pickup zip 62690.
