  1. I know not everyone agrees with bracing (which is OK ) & may not think it's necessary. But since I just bought a 2nd pair of Chorus 1's I am easily able to do a side by side comparison/experiment. If I gently "slap" the sides of my new pair, there is an obvious loud hollow echo/resonance coming from the long sides. But when I slap the one's I braced a few years ago (build thread on here) It is a SOLID quiet "Thunk" w/o any resonance. I'm reasonably sure the unbraced box would resonate in a similar way at high volumes when the big 15" moves ALOT of air. I'm not into crazy bracing, just two above & below the 15" pro woofer, & then a wider crosspiece going side to side which stiffens the sides at the 1/3 way up & 1/3 way down points. I believe it cleans up & "tightens" the mid-bass, & makes a difference you can hear, so I'll definately be bracing my new walnut one's the same way as my oak ones...
  2. Reluctantly going to post these for sale only because my forte ii are a better fit in my office. Here’s a super nice set of walnut Chorus 1s upgraded with Dave’s LMAHL d10 driver and new caps... let me know if you need any other photos. Asking 1400$ with free delivery anywhere in Tennessee or Kentucky. Also free pickup in Chattanooga. Thanks Tyler
  3. If anyone has one for sale please let me know. I've hit a few dead ends and would like an original stock k48 4 ohm woofer.
  4. I purchased my Chorus 1's & figured that if I tweaked the low bass response a little, these would be a pair of speakers I would keep forever. I got finished this past weekend & figured it was my turn to "pay it forward" & share the results in a build thread so others can easily duplicate the project (including pix/part #'s/relevant info) I also decided since I was "going in" the cabinets, I might as well try bracing them too. To make the post modification info more objective (hopefully) & less of my "opinion" I purchased digital test tone CD for low bass frequencies. I tested them pre & post mods & was quite happy with the results (testing info coming up at the end 😎) Dave
  5. Been reading/learning alot, now my 1st post is a speaker mod question 😃 I have a pair of mint Oak Chorus 1's with Crites crossovers & titanium diaphragms. Chorus 1's have 2 front ports & no rear passive. I've seen an older thread online where someone put in 7" long tubes where the two factory "ports" (really just 2 holes thru the mdf) are to increase/lower the bass freq response. Anyone here ever done that? If so, what fit? I ordered a 4" port from speaker express, but the 4" is the tube Internal diameter, not outer, so it didn't fit...Also went by my local carpet dealer, same problem, outer diameter is too big. & btw I don't want to enlarge/recut the factory holes. Ideas?
