  1. Merry Christmas to all first ! After swapping and testing numerous integrated tube amps (the list is long...), I finally settled for a beautiful Fisher 400. The question is now, which speakers??? LS3/5a, JR149, KEF LS50 and ATC SCM11s are receiving rave reviews but these like to be paired with powerful amps. I was wondering if one you guys are running one of this configuration. I am specially interested in the ATC SCM11s. I am also open to any other bookshelf speakers recommendations. Thank you for any feedback Fisher 400 with LS3/5a or KEF LS50 or ATC SCM11 V2 ?

  3. To start off, my wife and I are having a baby in the next couple of weeks, and I need something at home that will operate without any future headaches. That being said, this relic from days gone by needs to find a new home! I bought it locally (OKC) a few months ago and after some research, I've uncovered that I have a partially restored unit. Some coupling caps have been replaced along with a few more parts, the electrolytic capacitors are still original and need to be replaced. The output tubes still have some life left in them, and all of the preamp tubes work great. This amp has very minimal noise in it which was a high priority for me in the tube search. It sounds unbelievable. It hurts to let it go, but someone with a technician background would be able to enjoy this amp like I never could. The wooden case is the only obvious quirk. An older gentleman owned this Fisher since its heyday and developed quite the attachment to it. At some point, it no longer fit inside of a furniture piece in his home so he routed the corners off of the back of the case in an effort to force the fit. I'm calling it a folk art piece. Its the back of the receiver so you don't ever see it regardless. Apart from that, the ink on the faceplate has worn off in some places and in its place, some tiny white labels sit in the on and off positions on the front, and on the inputs on the back. You can vaguely see these in the photo provided. I can furnish you with some more photos if you're interested. I'll let her go for $600 OBO.
  4. I am interested in a clean McIntosh MC225 all original and in Excellent condition only +/- $$ trade in equipment would be great. Tubes not necessary but would be welcome. No Russian or Chinese tubes please. For possible trade I have a set of MC30's, brought up to specs by the Audio Doctor in Phoenix and the same for all but the Fisher unit. Invoices would be available. Also have MC300 w/ MX132 A/V both units in Mint condition with boxes, MC240 and (2) Fisher 500C and (1) Fisher 500b. Also would consider my MX110Z recently serviced and up to spec except (Audio Doctor) the FM, also in excellent condition. I don't use the radio so didn't bother with that although it works well. This is a long shot I know but.. I'm in Tucson AZ. and would prefer a hand off so nothing gets damaged in shipping. Please PM if interested.
  5. This is a working Fisher 400 with the original Fisher 7868 tubes. The unit works and pulls in a strong signal on the tuner. The unit is a little dirty and should be cleaned and probably recapped but it works beautifully. The unit will be packed well and if you have any question please do not hesitate to contact me. I do not have the wood case for the unite but everything else is there. I am asking $400 for the unit and I will pay for the shipping through FedEx Ground (insured).
  6. Well I got my first tube piece of stereo equipment and I am pleasantly surprised. I picked up a Fisher 400 from a friend of mine who told me everything was working on it and the price was right. I took a chance and it pairs with the Heresy II rather well. Only listening to my chromecast but I should get my turntable back in shortly. What are the best products to clean metal surfaces with and the best way to get rid of the filth? New to tubes and like it.
  7. FIrst of all I am new to hi-fi. I am looking at a set of KG4 for $200 on craigslist to hook up to my Fisher 400 amp. Anyone have any experience with this combo? Will the ~25ish WPC of this amp be enough for these speakers? Also, I am new to owning speakers of this age 25+ years old. What should I plan to have to repair / replace? I am already gearing up to do my first cap upgrades. thanks!
  8. List of Equipment with pics HERE I am selling about 50 pieces of vintage audio equipment for a buddy, and about 60 fifteen pairs of vintage Frazier speakers. Klipsch Forumites will get first choice before I open this up to national sales. I want this to be open ended for discussion, more than just simple questions on buying a piece, so please post as you want, there is no such thing as "thread crapping" on this thread. In brief, I have Marantz, Luxman, Fisher, Onkyo, Sherwood, Sansui, and Adcom electronic pieces, and more. This will be a separate thread later, but there is a speaker brand I am told is known to Klipsch people, called "Frazier." I have heard these and they sound incredible. I will have about 50 15 pairs of them available soon. Let me stop here, and link to the first Craigs List piece, two Luxman L-80 V integrated amps. Located in Morgantown, WV 26105. http://morgantown.craigslist.org/ele/4567069567.html
