  1. I am trying to figure out my options for a new center speaker. My current setup is: Left front and Right front: Cornscalas Center KLF C-7 Left rear and right rear: La Scalas Atmos ceiling CDT 5800-C-2 Left and right surrounds RP-252 I feel my center is holding my system back and am looking for something that is more appropriate. Some options I am considering are: 1) Cornscala 2) La Scala 3) Cornwall Those are the obvious contenders. Would a pair of Chorus work too? Are there any other options I should consider? I keep looking for a single of one of those, but haven’t found one secondhand yet.
  2. I am looking for a pair of ALK Crossovers for my La Scalas. Let me know what you have.

  6. I have been reading this forum for a little while and have found so much information. It is truly a great resource for Klipsch owners. I have looked high and low to see if there has been a related post and could not find one so I am posting seeking some advice. I recently acquired a pair of La Scala speakers for what I thought was a good price. I am about to rip out and rebuild a built in "bar" area and a room that has my pool table. My only option to make this fit is to build the LaScala's into the bar. I have attached a photo of them placed where they would go, they would just be set back into the bar against the wall(photo attached). My major concern is that building them in will make them sound muffled or give them an "echo". The fronts would be flush or about 1" in front of the cabinet opening. I am building this so I can build it the way I want or need to. I am hoping LaScala's are a good speaker to do this with since they are not rear ported etc... Has anyone tried this with success? Or have any tips or tricks to make an install like this work? As a side note, I am not looking for the sound to be perfect. This is obviously a rec room and the pool table is right in the middle of the sound field, I am just looking for a somewhat clear sound and reducing "boomy" sound if I can with this type of install. In this photo I placed them right up against the current bar and it sounded pretty good. ...on a side note I included the speaker tag. From info I found on this site, these are from 1980 and are Birch Lacquer with a factory walnut stain? Is that correct? I have a pair of Hersey speakers that are Oiled Walnut and these defiantly look like they have a lacquer finish compared to those. Any regular maintenance that needs to be done to this type of finish? I greatly appreciate any advice or feedback! Jereme
  7. Hello! I live in Lincoln, NE and am selling a pair of 1997 La Scala's. The Original Birch Raw finish has slight bumps and nicks, but is in very good condition. These have sat in the previous owners residence since they were bought new in 1997 and the previous owner did not have kids or a dog, so the grills are in amazing shape. HERE IS A LINK TO MORE PHOTOS: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1BkeJtMdUcS7_psS19kfyZOwBgRIFxFo3 Made by Klipsch, Inc in Hope, Arkansas USAModel Number: LS BIR RAW 17Serial Numbers are consecutive: 107796507 & 107796508 Crossovers: TYPE AL-3Horns: K-55-MThese were given to me because of my pro-audio interest, but I'm new to the high end HiFi scene. The original owner paid approx $5,000 for the pair in 1997 and kept them in amazing condition over the years. I submitted a ticket to Klipsch to find out the origin and retail price and what Klipsch told me matches what the original owner remembered about their value, adjust for inflation and slight wear. I'm open to offers, no low-ballers! Local pickup and cash payment in Lincoln, NE. If you want them shipped, we'll have to work out a deal for that. Send me a message and make me an offer!
  8. I recently picked up a pair of Electro-Voice DH1506 compression drivers (CD) to upgrade my CF-4's. There was nothing wrong with the stock K-63's, but strong endorsements from Moray James and Alexg5775 got me wondering if the already fantastic sounding CF-4's didn't have a little room for improvement. I A/B'd the K-63 and the DH1506 and found them very close in sound. My testing was very informal and the sound was slightly better in the midrange with the DH1506. I wanted to get them measured properly to see if the diaphragms were within spec, so after a quick call to Mustang Guy I was off to the Speaker Ranch to get them measured. As usual, Craig had a better idea. I call his place the Speaker Ranch because his building is so large it's like a free range area where Klipsch speakers can wander and play freely, as loud as they want. There are fully 6 La Scalas set up in a 6.2 configuration, sometimes more. See Mustang Guy's signature for the entire list. It was around 20 or 30 last time I checked. Craig immediately grasped a 1506 which was attached to the CF-4 horn and connected it to the squacker section of the right side La Scala. Then we listened. We set up in the main LP and could hear an immediate difference, probably in favor of the DH1506. I say probably because this was NOT a controlled test, it was very much seat of the pants. We both thought the DH1506 might have been more efficient making that side a little brighter. If there was a difference, it was very little, both CD's sounded fantastic. Certainly one CD could be used interchangeably with the other and in a blind listening test you could not tell which was which. Craig took some measurements of both CD's in a very interesting way, so I think I'll stop here and let him post his comments.

  24. I am looking for a little input from any of you using Al’s extreme slope networks in smaller listening rooms. I am using the es500 and es5800 combo with diy La Scalas. These networks do many things very well, separation of instruments, clean bass, very clean bass, and vocal clarity is all there in spades. However the center image is not. I was using Bob’s a4500 networks previously which are great for how basic they are and they had a great center image. I have read how great the imaging of the esn networks is and for the most part they are amazing, but I am missing that center image. Any advice? Are these for big rooms?
