What receiver would you recommend to go with the ICON series, specifically KF 26's as fronts and KS 14 rears in a 5.1 setup?

I humbly admit to being a complete novice with all things home theater and I have attempted to learn as I go along, but going along as proven to be overwhelming with a lot of the science and technical specs out there when trying to set up a basic system. Basically, Black Friday's black hole at Best Buy sucked me in and I splurged on a pair of R-28Fs, a pair of R-15Ms and a pair of R-10SWs (I have 4 other speakers that can be used as surrounds - ALL speakers are rated @ 8 ohms) & I bought what I was told at the time was an adequate Onkyo receiver - which I soon thereafter discovered was woefully underpowering for the caliber of speakers I bought. According to Klipsch's website regarding my pair of R-28Fs, they recommend an AVR that produces between 150-300w RMS @8 ohms since the speakers are rated at 150RMS @8 ohms. In my quest to find an affordable AVR that produces ANYTHING over 150w RMS @ 8 ohms, my eyeballs are slapped with units that cost nearly $2000 and more. I didn't go into this expecting to spend $5000 on what I imagine most of you on these forums would consider a pretty basic introductory system - but that is what I was hoping to start with until I continue to educate myself on putting together a custom system that I obtain audio utopia with - - - but until then, I am stuck with these speakers and have yet to locate an AVR that would sufficently power all of these speakers without forcing me to go to the bank to take out a loan - - but if that's what I have to do, I am about at the point of giving in so I can finally hook up these speakers. Over the phone, one Klipsch rep told me I'd be fine with an AVR that had 125w RMS @ 8 ohms even though their website contradicts that advice....another rep told me that an AVR with 185w RMS is what I'd need - so I just kinda hung it up for a while after all the misinformation. All apologies if this post is redundant or was posted on the wrong board. Can anyone point me in the direction of a respectable AVR that would be able to properly power the speakers I referenced above? I don't have a 3D HDTV (just a reg HDTV) * don't plan on 4K for a while * and will have to wait on Dolby Atmos until I evolve enough with the abundance of info out there that FOR NOW has me stumped with setting up my very first system. Any tips, suggestions or specific instructions would be appreciated as I am learning all of this on the fly. 2-Channel system with the R-28Fs & a subwoofer? Receivers vs. amplifiers? Watts per channel @ 8 ohms that won't potentially damage the speakers by under or over-powering them? sigh.... Thanks a lot!!

Hi guys. I'm building a new home theater system which will be used primarily for watching movies & football games. I was gifted the following equipment line-up except for the R-5800s which I recently purchased: 2X Klipsch KG5.5 Floorstanding Speakers 2X Klipsch R-5800-W II in-wall Speakers Klipsch KV2 Center Channel Speaker Klipsch SW10-II Subwoofer Harmon Kardon AVR65 Receiver My question is whether or not the Harmon Kardon AVR65 is an adequate receiver for me gear? If not, would you guys recommend another receiver with good performance, clarity, and reasonable price? I'd really like to keep my new receiver cost below $350 if possible. Good Afternoon, Edited this classified. Up for sale are two EV speakers, one Georgian and One Patrician. Included, I have a Harmon Kardon 430 Two Way Receiver. I have only moved the speakers around to get some better photos, so please reach out and I will send if interested. Units are heavily used, no major damage, but will take some refurbishing to bring back to new condition. There are zero major gouges in the factory cabinets, just heavy use. Knobs are worn, will need replacing. I just tested the units and everything (including receiver) are in perfect working order, and sound amazing!! (have video if needed!), I am selling them as is, with the receiver included. I am looking to get $4000 for everything, but am open to good offers. These units are located in Pittsford, NY, zip 14534, and would need to be picked up, as shipping is darn near impossible (however if buyer wants to set this up I can handle getting them ready) Thank you!

Hey Everyone, First time poster here. I'm going to sound kind of dumb but here we go. My dad just gave me his old pair of Hersey I HBR speakers. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. Not a single scratch or dent. However, electronics isn't really my wheel house so I was hoping yall could suggest a nice receiver in the hopefully less than $300 range for me to hook it up to as well as maybe some pictures of the wiring (they don't have any wires which, for a millennial used to AUX cords, is confusing). I'm also hoping to get a record player to go with it. I have one now but it's cheap; record wobbles, arm is too light and skips frequently. So suggestion for a solid record player would be appreciated also. Will update as progress comes along!

hello all, Im running a Onkyo Tx-sr805 and I have th epleasure of owning rf-83's, my question is what should i set them at...full range? to a certain HZ like 80hz, i used the calibration mic but i feel as if my rf-83's arent putting out the sound that they can, i am a bass loving kinda of guy and like to feel it if you know what i mean....any help would be a GREAT help, also if anyone is a Receiver expert, should i keep the onlyo tx-sr805 or get the tx-sr636?

Hey guys. I'm totally new to the whole stereo system thing. I haven't even heard of Klipsch till I picked up a pair of KG4s at a yard sale this past weekend. I've been doing research on watts and ohms, receivers, and set up but everything is kinda over my head. I need help but broken down real simple like. I'm not trying to get some perfect setup I just want to be able to play some music nice and loud without breaking something. So like I said I got a pair of the KG4's and I bought this old receiver RCA RK327C http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-RCA-RK327C-HI-FI-RECEIVER-/221540828945?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item3394dcc711#viTabs_0 (pics attached) it has 120 volt, 60hz, 300watt, 2 channels. I hooked'm up yesterday and found out the right channel of the receiver is messed up it is low and kinda cycles up and down. Left is fine, that speaker was thumping pretty good. I get a little buzzy sound with some music not sure if thats the speaker or receiver. So since only one side is working I hooked both speakers to that side. That worked. So questions 1. Are the speaker and receiver compatiable, as in will something break if I keep using it? 2. I do plan on getting the other channel fixed on the receiver but for time being is having everything go to side messing something up? 3. Is that buzzing coming from the speaker or receiver? Thanks yall, remember please explain plainly. Also if this a bad pairing could you tell me the right kind of receiver to get. I like the vintage look and I'm not trying to spend much, again I just want to play loud without breaking something.

Fisher 400 Receiver, restored to excellent condition by none other than Mr. NOSValves. I had looked for a while to get a really nice unit to start with and then had Craig work his magic on it with a complete deluxe rebuild with a basic MPX alignment. The end result is an awesome receiver that should be good for the next 30 years. The work was done one year ago and it has served as a spare bedroom system, so it doesn't have a lot of hours on it since the restore. Why would I sell it? My stereo rooms are disappearing as we downsize; next year we'll have 3 kiddos in college - yes at the same time. The same reason my StarChiefs left the other day, and Blueberry Extreme last month. The Fisher 400 is a 65 watt FM Stereo receiver. It has enough power to rock any Klipsch speakers, and it sounds incredible. It is a cosmetically good unit. Price is $700 plus shipping. You can not buy a nice unit with case and have it restored for this. Local pickup and a nice test / listening session is welcome. I could also meet somebody on the west side of Chicago next week Wednesday / Thursday as I'll be in town for work. I live in Des Moines.

I am putting together my first ever stereo system (turntable, speakers, receiver), and I recently purchased a pair of vintage 1980 Klipsch Heresy HWL speakers. My dad had a similar pair when I was younger, so I purchased them partly for nostalgia and sentimental reasons. My earliest musical listening experiences were through Klipsch. They had a tremendous impact on me and are a huge reason why I'm a musician today. My next step is getting a tubed receiver. All the research I've done on the vintage Heresy speakers suggest that the Heresys really sing through tubed instead of solid state, as that is what they were designed for. They also recommend getting a receiver or amp with a mid level controller. So far, I've been looking at Marantz (specifically the 2270 and 2275 model), Mcintosh, and Fischer. However, I'm also trying not to break the bank and am open to other suggestions. I will only be playing vinyl through this set-up. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions, recommendations, or advice. I'm brand new to this! Thanks!
