  1. Hey y’all! I’ve had the fives for about 6 months or so and something about the natural oak just doesn’t look the best to me. I’d like to refinish these with a darker stain, but I just don’t know how to go about it. I know that refinishing veneer is challenging and I also don’t know how thin the veneer is on these. I know this isn’t that big of a deal, but if anyone has any advice I’d love to hear it. Thanks!
  2. Hi, Looking to build my first hi-fi set-up and knew that Klipsch was the way to go. I live in a small NYC apartment so a bookshelf pair makes the most sense. I was looking to buy some RP-600M new, but thought I'd check here first to see if anyone is trying to offload. Any tips / recommendations are appreciated as well! Thanks!
  3. Wanted to Buy: Single RB-5 bookshelf speaker, black. Have you got just one you don't use? I do, and I'd love to hear two of them at once! This is my first post in this forum and I do not know protocol yet, so please be patient and send a message. Thanks!! Stay Safe.
  4. Hello! I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I am also very new to home theater and audio equipment and have been really enjoying the process of this new community. Right now I have a 5.2 system in a very small 12’x10’ room. The sound is pretty good. I am using Klipsch R-620f towers for my Front L&R and the Klipsch R-34c for my center. My question is this: I have been looking to possibly upgrade to the Klipsch RP-600m for my Front L&R. I feel this upgrade in quality might be worth it from my home theater. Is this upgrade from the reference series to the premier series worth it?
  5. Hello, I am wondering if anyone can recommend a pair of good speaker stands for the RP 600M. I am planning to place them as my fronts. Thanks
  6. New home, new 5.1 (or 5.2) HT opportunity. Issue is that new L/C/R speakers must go into a built-in bookshelf surrounding TV. Speakers can be placed about 7 ft apart and at ear level but will be on a 12" deep shelf and surrounded by a cell with side walls and a top (some flexibility in cell size but not depth). Listening area is 15x15x10 and open to a larger space. Surround speakers will be in-ceiling. 80% HT, 20% soft rock music. Dialogue clarity is very important but loudness is not. Prefer to keep Yamaha Aventage 660 avr (80wpc). For this application, am I better off using the RB81's with the front ports or the RP160's ? Other tips ?
  7. Moving into a new home and want to add a center to my bookshelf speakers (rb-61 II) .. the catch is this, I have a small space (8” deep) and a wife who would prefer no center. Any recommendations for a center that would pair decently well? I know they should match, but most of the matches won’t fit on that ledge... any thoughts on gallery (or the new RP version of the gallery on wall), the center from a quintet, or maybe one of the older synergy centers? Open to ideas here, just needs to be small and compact.
  8. Hey Klipsch community! In the past couple years I've been bitten by the audiophile bug and I've been driven to find new and better ways to enjoy movies and especially music. First I got the two RP-160m bookshelf speakers, then the RP-250C center channel, and this week I finally got my sub, the RP-110SW. I've been happy with the bookshelf and center channels, but I'm pretty sure I have no idea what I'm doing on setting up the appropriate crossover--for the 160's and especially the sub. I'm wondering what the best crossover setting for the receiver would be, and also on the sub itself. I've read a bit and trying out different things, but thought I'd ask in case someone has a similar setup or could show me the way. I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm using an Onkyo TX-NR555 receiver. Thanks for any assistance you can offer!
  9. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16886200062&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=IGNEFL042517&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL042517-_-EMC-042517-Index-_-HomeAudioSpeakers-_-86200062-S2A5B&ignorebbr=1 This seems like a smokin deal for a bedroom system or maybe a kids room set up. Only $69 a pair and free delivery through Newegg today for a pair of Klipsch RB-10 bookshelf speakers.
  10. Hey everyone first post here! Recently just purchased the RC-62ii center channel and I currently have the R-28f hooked up as a stereo setup for mainly music and have a pair of the R-15M stored away in the closet because I'm slowly working my way up to a 5.1 setup for more movie focused sound. So my question is will my RC-62ii match well with these 4 or will it be a problem that its the reference II series vs. reference I. It didn't cross my mind at first but then I read that all speakers should have the same exact tweeters for the right sound. Thoughts? Also, any subs that you guys recommend? if any component of the system I would be open to another brand would be the sub. so throw any and all recommendations out there. I'm currently looking at the BIC Acoustech PL-200 and the R-12SWi and R-112SW if I can find them for the right price (under $500) Thank you!
  11. Hey fellow Klipsch enthusiast I am looking for a pair of front ported bookshelf speakers to use as rears in my 7.2 HT. Sweet.
  12. I'm looking for 2-8" replacement woofers for my RB-5s.
  13. Hello everyone, I am new to the forum but not unfamiliar with Klipsch. A good friend of mine has 2 pair Heresy’s, 2 pair Cornwall’s and a pair of Khorn’s. I have replaced crossover caps in all of them and the original diaphragm’s in one with Ti. After looking at a number of small speakers to replace a pair of tweaked NHT Super Zero’s I finally picked up a pair of RP-160M’s. I used to build speakers when I was younger, everything from cabinets to crossovers. My brother and I would use our front yard as our anechoic chamber laying the speaker down on the grass facing up into the atmosphere to do near field measurements for mechanical phase correction etc. I knew looking at the horn design in the RP series it had potential, compacted rubber coating on the Tractix horn to eliminate resonance? Who does this? Only Klipsch. The 6.5" Spun Copper Cerametallic woofer is nice and tight as well, very rigid and light weight. Klipsch did an amazing job with these drivers. They have serious potential! After listening for a few days I thought they should have had a little more clarity in the high frequency and upper midrange so I pulled the crossovers and sure enough to hit the targeted price range Kilpsch used a relatively inexpensive poly cap in the tweeter, a sandcast resistor and an electrolytic cap in the woofer circuit. These had to go. I ordered a pair of Jantzen Cross Caps to replace the Klipsch 3.9uF ones and put a couple of ceramic disks that I had lying around across the 43uF electrolytic, stage 1 complete. Now the horn is coming alive! This made an improvement in the high frequency clarity that let me know I was right about these drivers and moving in the right direction. Next step was to replace the 43uF electrolytic with Jantzen Cross Caps, the 9ohm sandcast resistor with a Mills type and add some 0.1uF Audyn True Copper bypass caps. But that required rebuilding the crossover boards, 43uF of poly cap is too big for the pcb behind the binding posts. I purchased a 3.5" wide x .25” thick Poplar board from the local hardware store and rebuilt the simple crossover. I used Velcro to attach it to the bottom of the speaker housing. Due to the size of these speakers the crossovers needed to be very compact and as it turned out the positive spade terminal on the inside of the binding post had to be rotated 180 degrees so it didn’t touch the crossover. I arranged the crossover so the upper binding posts go to the tweeter and the lower to the woofer circuit. I added a little constrained layer dampening (peel and stick type) to the Tractrix port for good measure as well, it is plastic and it dose ring a bit when you tap on it. You think they imaged before? Holy crap, the clarity will blow you away! It turns out I was correct in my assessment of these drivers. This horn is the finest Klipsch has ever designed, the culmination of years of thought and research and probably reading these forums to find out what all of you have been doing to their speakers. The balance, linearity and amazing clarity from the Ti diaphragm and the Cerametallic woofer are astounding. Every bristle of the brush on a snare drum is individually defined. Voices have an airiness to them and each instrument is individually discernable. For this price these are unbeatable. By the way I stole them for $299.99 and free shipping from ebay, brand new in the original boxes! I probably spent $150.00 or so on the crossovers alone bringing the total around $450.00. A great deal on speakers with such potential.
  14. Greetings from the Arkansas lowlands - home of tall grasses, heavy soil and indestructible bugs! I am searching for vintage bookshelf speakers for a small listening room. Something in the 12"h x 8"w x 8"d (or slightly larger) would be ideal. Being definitely old school, birch plywood cabinets with real wood veneers are preferable to MDF. The closest I have found so far are the KG-1 and KG-1.5 models. Can you suggest any other Klipsch speakers to consider? We have Heresy originals in another room and really like them. Best wishes. -Robert
  15. ***SOLD*** I am selling my beloved pair of cherry Klipsch RB-75s. They are in very good condition and sound amazing (of course). The woofers have no dents or scratches and the magnetic screens are in great shape. The only real flaw is that one of them has a small dent on the back, top right hand corner due to moving (...I was pissed). But I have tried to take a very close picture of that to show it. Here is an imgur link with some quick picks before I boxed them up about 2 weeks ago. Oh yea I have the original Klipsch boxes too. http://imgur.com/a/n2CEZ CL post for RB-75s http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/ele/5379499052.html !!UPDATED!!: Special Klipsch forum price: $600 -- SOLD I am also selling a pair of black RF-82s. These are in great shape too. Screens are all intact and no real damage to speak of. I'm guessing these were B stock originally though because near the back bottom on one you can see some non-uniform coloring in the paint. Not like it matters but just mentioning it to be as honest as I can be. -- SOLD SOLD -- CL post for RF-82s -- SOLD http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/ele/5281143005.html I'm not super interested in shipping these but I suppose if the buyer wants to pay for it and is interested enough I could do it.
  16. I found some Sony SS K10ED bookshelf speakers for 20 bucks on CL and figured they would match alright with the other rare Sony ED speakers I have. 5" woven Kevlar woofer and dome tweeter that goes up to 80k. They sounded pretty awesome in my dining room test so I built some stands. I used 3/4" mdf and 1 1/2" wooden dowel. I never really have a solid plan when I start out building anything like this. I decided because of their shape to go with a triangle stand. I made the tops match the bottoms exactly and they had two mount holes on the bottom of the speakers so I made the tops match so I could bolt them down. Next I went out a ways for the bottom and rounded the corners like on the Forte II stands and added threaded inserts for spikes. since the wooden dowels were kind of pricey I cut the 3 4' dowels in half making the stands just about 27" tall with the spikes. these turned out rather well. the only thing I would do different is make the front wider because they are kind of top heavy. I will probably cut some scrap 1/2" plate steel and attach under the stands for counter weight latter on. I painted them with 99 cent spray paint.
  17. Up for sale is a pair of black RB-61s (not IIs) in outstanding condition, with original boxes. The RB61s were only used for a short while as rears in a 7.1 Reference setup. Boxed them up and put them in a corner 2 1/2 years ago when I moved to an all Heritage setup. After pics, I put the speakers back into the original shipping box ready sell. (I did not want too . . . was saving them for a special occasion. Wife said, "But you do not have any other Reference speakers. And, if you ever want to buy another Heresy, the RB-61s have to move out!" There is a small hairline surface scuff (not through the vinyl) I tried to capture in a pic with flash on. The flash magnifies it in the fuzzy picture below. I just did not want anyone to buy them and say . . . "Hey, I see a tiny hairline scuff (not through the vinyl) on the top of the speaker when I shine a 3000 watt Halogen light on it!" Yes, I could have put some black marker, or shoe polish, or some other trick on there to cover it up. I figure that the new owner, if bothered at all, could elect to do that. Again, I never saw it until I took a pic of the top with a flash and then looked at the fuzzy magnified pic. Believe me, with little previous use, perfect corners, perfect cones, and excellent cosmetics (grills excellent too), you will not be disappointed. $250 cash for forum members; local pickup in south metro Atlanta, GA or $250 plus shipping . . . they are in their original boxes and ready to go.
  18. New member here. I found a pair of nice Klipsch KG4s - paid $200 which might be a bit high from what I have seen but I really wanted to try a pair of Klipsch. I have them hooked to a 165 wpc Crown Amp. I was a bit worried that they may sound a bit harsh with the Crown but so far I really like them. Which brings me to my next question. I am looking at a friends 45wpc late 70s integrated amp and tuner. Super nice shape and he is the original owner. Thinking of putting this in a bedroom for a nice place to relax and listen to music. The room is small maybe 11x13. I am so impressed with my KG4s I was thinking of a nice pair of small speaker for the bedroom system - figure the older integrated will be a warmer sound than my Crown (which sounds fine for me anyway). What are some good small Klipsch speakers that would pair with the old 45wpc integrated amp? It is SS not a tube. I need a well rounded set - since I listen to bluegrass, jazz, 80s and even a little classic rock. Don't want to break the bank with this little system but I want a solid set of small speakers - if base was a bit lite I could alway keep my eye open for a small 8" subwoofer. So hit me up with some ideas on what small Klipsch speakers I should keep my eye open for on C/L or the like - appreciate the advice.
