  1. Hey guys, I just just acquired a set of CF3 version 1 that just don't sound quite clear. Drums, mid bass and cymbals sound ok -cymbals a little hot but voices nasally, midrange and voices sound very recessed overall. The drivers are in good shape and do not distort so I dont think the issue is there. This is in both speakers and have tried multiple upstream amps, preamps and integrateds. I am going to line the back of the horns with dynamat. Any other mods suggested? I have read about bracing etc but they are solid as a rock. I have some Forte II that I did Crites Crossovers and Ti tweeter diaphragms and braced- because I could get in easy- and they sound amazing. Looking to recap these and just wondering what caps you all would suggest for what look like poly caps underneath the top shelf, and what looks like electrolytics on the top shelf. (These are stacked on top of one another on the terminal cup) The values of the top are 40uf 100v 5%, and 25uf 100v 5%. The caps below are 4.0uf 250DC, 3.25uf 250DC and 15uf 250DC. After all the glowing reviews, I just cant imagine that these CF3 V1s should sound like this and I am hoping a recap will help. Looks like sonicaps gen 1 have the correct values, but would you replace the electrolytics with film caps or put some modern erse lytics in there? or does anyone have experience with something that worked well for you? Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance!!
  2. I am new to Klipsch and new to this forum. I grew up in the 80s outside of Hope, AR (in Texarkana) and always new of Klipsch as the pinnacle of speaker quality, although I could never afford them. Well, I found a pair of CF3 v.1s on my local shopgoodwill.com and go them for $350! They are in great shape. I'm looking forward to hooking them up and taking them for a test drive. However, I have a Harmon Kardon AVR520 tuner that I mainly used as garage listening with some old Sony SS-U7030s that I kept from my college days. Will this HK do the trick for a non-audiophile or should I look to upgrade the receiver? Can I just add an amp to boost the output? Please understand that I know very little at this point about the audio technical world, but I am willing to learn. So, please use layman's terms if you are able to provide any advice or feedback.
  3. THESE HAVE BEEN SOLD November - 2019 | Columbus, Ohio area Hi all, I have a pair of walnut finished Epic CF3's that have low mileage on them. Had to down size the house a decade ago and made a few moves since. They have been stacked up and not used all this time. I've come to realize I may never have an appropriate space to use them in the future, which makes me sad, but enough time has passed that I'm considering letting them go. The internals are in great shape - and I do mean low mileage. A few minor scratches in the walnut, but still quite very presentable. Black grills, with logos. Can anyone give me a price range they would recommend from high to low, and multiple inputs would be appreciated so I get a good cross-section of opinion. Thanks! UPDATE: Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 - PICTURES NOW AVAILABLE I've taken a few dozen pictures of the speakers for those who have expressed interest in them. As they exceed the 2MB limit for attaching here, I am including a link to my Personal Cloud Drive on Microsoft, here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkDnYzSzoR-Dge7QBRwP8UbS-5p1ke0?e=Iw26tJ Also, a correction to the post. The original posting listed these as Version 1. They are in fact Version 2 (with the 2.5" long port at the bottom, running front to back [Version 1 have a 5" port). Spec changes to Version 2: Rev.2 – Fall of 1994 These models had shorter 2.5" long port tubes (to raise the box tuning) Networks had a component / value change to correct for the new ports. (The network wire was still the OFC used in Rev.1.) THESE HAVE BEEN SOLD
  4. I found a pair of CF3s, version 1 on shopgoodwill.com. When I hooked them up I found that one of the tweeters crackles at any dB level. I pulled the horn out and detached the driver but couldn’t tell anything from looking at it. The diaphragm looked good and I couldn’t see any damage to the cone, though it is really hard to see anything. Any thoughts? Any way to fix or replace it? This is my first foray into Klipsch and high quality audio so your help is appreciated
  5. Pair of Cherry CF4's just popped up in Minneapolis for $700. I haven't contacted the guy to see if they're there but it's worth a shot. If anyone gets them, just curious to what version they are. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/eld/5891593430.html

  7. Hello all! I have a set of CF4 version 2 with the 2.5" ports. I've been searching around the forum for a while now and it sounds like the ports are easily swappable (which I can confirm by just pulling one out). My question is, what have you guys been putting back in that's longer? I've found some different sized ports online, but nothing is standard. Was curious if someone else had success with any one certain product. If not I was looking into extending with custom PVC or the like. Best
  8. Greetings all. First post for a long time lurker. On the 29th of January, I purchased a set of V1 CF3's. I absolutely love the sound of these speakers. As many have stated, they truly do it all. After some spirited listening, I noticed an annoying rattle/vibration. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the adhesive has let go on 3 of the 4 dust caps. The previous owner was a smoker and I figure this contributed to their failure. Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable replacement? I measure them to be just under 4 inches and the only vendor I find selling a 4" poly dust cap is PartsExpress. http://www.parts-express.com/4-poly-speaker-dust-cap--260-383 Can anyone confirm if this would be suitable? The picture doesnt look very appealing and the description states that it's primarily used on 12-15" woofers. Seeing how these are 10's, I am looking for a vote of confidence that this is the correct solution to my problem. As soon as I figure out how to post pics, I will showoff my newly acquired gems. Thank you in advance to any who reply
  9. I'm looking to upgrade to some newer smaller stuff. I wheel and deal on eBay and thought and I may have a better chance finding buyers here. The cf3's are black and cosmetically in good shape for their age. The cf2's have no enclosure (except my custom one they are in now) but I do have all the parts including the damping material (volume of damping material can be installed as designed that way). The drivers are in great shape. The KV-4 center channel has the same horn as the cf2's. It is in good condition as well. I'm doing some photographing this weekend so I can post the pictures soon.
