A few years ago I bought a par of Khorns in NY and shipped them to Australia - at more than they cost to buy. The Khorns are in the corners of a long room so now I'm looking for a single heritage speaker to fill the gap. Cornwall, Chorus II or Forte II look good candidates. The problem is most Klipsch for sale are pairs and I only need one and can't afford to ship a spare. Because of their size most speakers are also pickup only which poses a problem when I'm in Australia. So the question is, anyone have a single speaker to sell and is also willing to help me get it shipped? If I get the chance to be picky, walnut would match the Khorns.

Hi. I have a chance to buy a McIntosh 1700, which I want to play with my Cornwalls. Mostly listen to vinyl records through my Technics SL-1200. I understand the McIntosh is a hybrid - tuner is tube and preamp is SS. Would it be better to get a receiver where the preamp is tube - to get better sound I understand it would be better to get the tubes. Thanks.

Want to trade my brand new P-17bs for a great to excellent condition Heritage cornwall or belle. I have all the original boxes, packaging, manuals ect. The p-17b sounds too smooth for my ears (very similar to a B&W) I need the mid horn violence to my ears that the cornwall and belle give (La Scala too but I have placement constraints). Hey all, We have been quite pleased with the overwhelming success of the limited run of 70th Anniversary edition Heresy and Klipschorns. So much so that I've been told to ask you all about your thoughts on possible future "custom" Heritage speakers. We're talking strictly cosmetics here - finishes and grilles. What finish / grille combo(s) would you love to see and be interested in for the Khorn / Heresy III / Cornwall III / La Scala II? I'll be compiling this thread and handing it over to key decision makers sometime soon. We are just gauging interest for now, so let's hear it! Hi Klipsch lovers, I'd like to share my experience on tubes rolling for my 1981 Cornwall I. After almost a year using NOS Mullard 5U4G rectifier, 2x French brand 12AU7's for L&R + EH's 12BH7 on the C for the drivers (with monthly bias adjusment), I decided to do some tubes rolling. Yesterday I put a NOS Mullard GZ34R for the rectifier, 2x matched NOS 1954 Raytheon 5814 for the L&R + Genalex ECC82 on C for drivers channels. After readjusted the bias setting, then I fired up the amps. My impression was: 1. On CD. I played "Jazz at the pawnshop" & "Marantz's High End Audiophile Test" CDs. The result was: I heard a bigger sound stage compared to previous tubes setting, the stereo is wider with clearer details and easy to pint point the instruments with no hars on the highs. I could hear the fingering on the straight-up bass much clearer. One of the track on the Marantz cd (Harumi played by Circle Percussion), the low was sound nicely tight (not boomy) with alot of details on the highs. On of the track which had a trumpet lines, it was nicely presented with no harsh on my ears. 2. On Turntable. I played some Ben Webster, it brings the saxophone sound much forward/bigger. I could hear Webster's breath clearly with details on others instrument. The only downside, the stereo image is not as wide as the CD, maybe it's the way they recorded. 3. Digital music from my Itunes collection (in Apple Lossless format) using Schiit DAC. I played some "vocals" such as Jenna Mammina, Roberta Flack, Norah Jones, Nat King Cole, Diana Krall. Their vocals were so clear & details with forward soundstage which I love it. Overall, I love this tubes setting compare to my previous tube set up. I'm not sure which tubes from the mixed that brings up the big diferences and sorry I'm not a techy guy, this was just my observation. Here's my set up: A pair of 1981 Cornwall I with Crite's updated B2 XO, with all original drivers, tweeter, sqwuaker & woofer. Bob Latino's VTA120 in pentode mode (my preference). SP12R/PH12 pre-amp from tubes4hifi. The same 4xEH KT-90 for the output tubes (with bias set to around 0.500 dcV). Schiit Bifrost DAC. Marantz 7003 CD player. Project Debut Carbon with Red Ortofon cartridge. Any one has better experience on using Mullard GZ34R, Raytheon 5814 or Genalex ECC82 on their amps, are welcome to share their experiences & opinions on this thread. I just installed a set of ALK AP12-600 and ES5800 crossovers into my Klipsch Cornwall's. I am using a Conrad Johnson PV12 and Premier 11a. The original crossovers were the Klipsch B3 type. These were not bad at all, at the lowest levels I usually listen too. But, I frequently listen at higher levels so I thought I'd try the ALK's. They are a very nice improvement indeed. I did set the tweeter level to -5 on the attenuator, it was set at -3 from ALK. I left the mid range set to -6 db . The bass seems to be firmer and a bit more defined. There seems to be a bit more snap to blues and jazz drumsets on the recordings I just listened too. The mid range has a bit more clarity and a bit less blare, I have the original Klipsch metal horn and ceramic driver, which I believe to be a klipsch made driver just after the Heppner series. The Tweeter is also a ceramic K77m metal horn. I actually find the tweeter to sound just fine, but my hearing is a bit compromised after all these years. I did a test with a signal generator and I can still hear to 17K. I do notice an improved sound stage as well. A bit more depth and locations are well defined, more layers to the instrument positions. At a few moments I felt the stage was wider and some sounds appeared to the out side of the speakers as well. My first impression was the B3 crossovers were fuller bodied , but upon further listening the ALK are the clear winner with better clarity, detail and imaging. At lower levels they sound fine. I was afraid after reading reviews, the lower levels would be compromised , but I do not think so. The B3 crossovers are congested at moderate levels and beyond, probably at lower levels too, its just not objectionable at the lowest levels. I paid as much for the crossovers as I did for the Cornwall, But I am well satisfied so far. billy z

I'm selling my Bob Crites Style C Cornscala high efficiency speakers. These are Klipsch Cornwall + LaScala hybrids, combining the best qualities of each speaker. They are incredibly efficient, operating at 102dB sensitivity. They're perfect with SET amps or any tube amp offering 2 or more watts. They have selenium drivers, and were finished by the previous owner. I have rated them at a 7 because there's a ~1.5" sliver of wood that chipped off the bottom front of one speaker. I still have the piece and it can easily be glued back on, I just never got around to it. SOLD Negotiating down from the listed price will result in none of the 3 extras being included. I found a local pair xxRxxx consecutive numbers (1977) I am concerned about the drivers and their remaining active life - the crossovers I might have to address - but are the drivers going to be alive after almost 40 years of service? 800 USD asking price - medium to good shape. These were purchased some years back and were installed in an "experimental" Cornwall cab that used Forte horns. These have never been driven hard, and are in like new condition. I have no use for them. Buy my cabinets I've advertised and start yourself building a pair of Cornwalls. Bob carries these for $240/pair new + $25 shipping. I have been approached to buy a pair of Klipsch Cornwall's from the 70's. They do not appear to have any veneer, or be unfinished. I have no experience with vintage speakers and I would like to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. Guy is asking $700 for the pair. Any advice for a newbie who really wants a pair of old-school speakers?

I'm getting to a bit of year-end housecleaning and writing up my impressions of a number of speakers I was fortunate enough to sample over the course of the year. This was a great Klipsch year for me - I've had Cornwalls, Tangent 5000s, and Forte IIs in the house alongside my CF4s. They were, and still are, all amazing speakers. But only one pair got to stay while the others found new and willing homes. It was tough winnowing the herd but that's the only way I can keep up with this amazing hobby! I've written up my impressions with some pictures on my blog, www.silverfacestereo.com. I'd be happy to hear whether others have done similar comparisons and what they've concluded. I am sure I am going to be beaten down on this subject. I want to build a Cornwall cabinet and use lower end drivers and crossovers. Like Eminence or Dayton. I know it wont sound like the original. I know that I am on a Klipsch forum. There has got to be a way that a blue collar guy with blue collar wages and some basic speaker building skills can have a nice set of hand made speakers to sit back and enjoy. I have all the plans and step buy step photos of the clone build. Why cant I use a Dayton and find a 3 way crossover and horns that are near spec? I am no audiophile, I just like my tunes. I made a pair of MTM's last year. EH, they sound good but lack that big speaker look and feel I remember for when I was a child. I posted to forums then while I was building the cabs and I was torn to shreds because I wasnt following the rules. Well, my windows rattle and everything from Meddle, to Random Access Memories sounds crisp and clear. This was using Dayton drivers for the MTM and GRS for my subs. I will probably do it anyway but It would be appreciated if someone knew what would work together. I am unfamiliar with horns but I really want some. Please someone offer up some suggestions. -
Hi guys: There's a story here to be told, bear with me. These Cornwall cabinets were built from MDF plywood, a very durable and tough plywood with an outer coating that takes paint well or is ideal for veneers. In this case, I had utilized these cabinets for some time as experimental "Corn-Fortes", using the K33 woofer and the Forte High and midrange horns. All wood was properly, personally CNC'd by me, and I did the construction as well. They are solid and ready to go, built exactly the same as stock Cornwalls dimensionally, with the same "shelf" inside and the dual ports. In the meantime, I had also cut myself a pair of VERTICAL Cornwall motorboards, and drilled the backsides to accept the stock Cornwall components. I had hoped to convert the cabinets back to a vertical format setup, but given I sold my Cornwalls some time back, and dismissed the Corn-Forte experiment, these parts are sitting around collecting dust. THIS IS STRICTLY A DIY proposal - but if you have ever wanted Cornwall cabinets, NEW, and verticals, this may be for you. You would be required to: 1) Remove the existing motorboards and install the vertical motorboards. The originals are well glued and sealed, so this is not for the faint of heart. 2) One cabinet does NOT have a terminal cup; I never got around to cutting a hole for it. Easy job with a jigsaw. Terminal cups available at Parts Express. 3) One rear panel has countersunk mount holes; the other does not. Sloppy on my part, but NOT a functional or visual distraction. Before I even price these things (and I want them outta here - I'd HATE to toss them in the trash), I need to know if there's any interest. Caveats: 4) I am near Dallas Texas, would PREFER local transaction but NOT mandatory 5) You want them shipped, they will be expensive to ship - but I WILL do it if it's necessary. 6) You buy them, you destroy them, it's your nickel. If you are not skilled at woodworking or don't know how to effectively do the swap, it's your issue. Just trying to protect myself. 7) I do NOT want to sell the vertical fronts separately; I figured that would be the first question. If I do, I'll let you know. Otherwise please respect that this is a package deal. Anyone up for DIY? Thanks.

I'm looking at B networks in late 60's Cornwalls with stock horns and drivers. (K77, K55, K33) I want to keep this pair stock or at least very close. I would like to hear from those who have experience comparing the B to the B2 network in Cornwalls. I will recap the B networks but it doesn't look like much trouble to change it to a B2 if it is worthwhile. How does the B sound compared to the B2? What does the B2 change about the B? I am also looking at getting another pair of networks from Dean but that will be for a different pair of speakers. If I could afford it I would just get 2 more pairs from Dean but I also like the idea of keeping one pair close to stock. Modifying the B network a bit doesn't bother me much though. I'm considering Jensens or Jupiters if they ever release their new model.
