  1. Attached are two crossover network schematics of the Forte I and Forte II I found on the Klipsch forum. I assume these to be accurate. Note that the circuit topology is identical for both and with the exception of the inductor in the tweeter filter, all passive components differ only in value. Note also that on the Forte I schematic that the squawker is wired with inverted polarity but not the tweeter. On the Forte II schematic the tweeter is wired with inverted polarity but not the squawker. Can anyone explain the following: 1. Why invert either of the two drivers in the two Forte models? 2. Why was the squawker inverted on the Forte I and the tweeter inverted on the Forte II? I looked at a dozen or so Klipsch crossover networks posted on the Forum and found a few networks with driver polarity inverted. AL-2: squawker and tweeter AL-3: curiously, all drivers wired "normally". Heresy II: tweeter inverted Obviously, changes in drivers or network topology may dictate the necessity of inverting the polarity of one or more drivers to achieve a more uniform frequency response. But I find it curious that the Forte I and Forte II inverted different drivers in the two respective models. Lee
  2. My father is looking to sell his original Forté speakers - they are in good condition and sound incredible... but my mother thinks they take up too much space in the living room! EDIT - attached serial #
  3. Original Klipsch Forte speakers. Conservatively rated 8/10. Consecutive serial numbers. They look great and sound fantastic. Grills are in perfect shape with original badges. Look at the pics and ask questions. They are ready to be hooked up and enjoyed. No trades and Not willing to ship. I need to sell these so make an offer!
  4. Bear with me, I'm about a thousand years old and never posted on a forum before. I bought my four floor, wood cabinet Fortes around 1985/6 and used and loved them until my last amp died a couple years ago. (Nakamichi and Yamaha) and had equalizer in pre-digital age. I hooked up all 4 at once placing 2 in front, 2 in back of sofa for early surround sound effect. They were oiled monthly. Cabinets in good original condition.Obviously I loved them to have kept them this long. Since I moved 2 yrs ago they're in my upstairs closet and downstairs climate controlled storage. Interestingly the guy I bought the house from had 2 Fortes in the sunroom. The inspectors signature sticker I believe is on 3 of mine. If anyone is interested in these I will have my handiman pull them out and take pictures but only if there is interest as theyll have to stay out . I dont have an amp to demo these. They are very heavy. I thought I'd put the word out. You all seem so helpful on this forum and I want them to go to a fan who appreciates them. Any guidance re price or best place to list for sale would be appreciated. Thank you for any responses. Lin

  6. Hi guys, My brother and I are proud owners of a '79 Klipschorn and two Forte 1s in generally excellent condition. Since owning these, we haven't done any wood work and have little experience in doing so. We wanted to ask you two things: 1) What type of wood are these? I've attached pictures of the Khorn and each Forte 1. My guess is Walnut throughout. 2) What is the best way to treat / maintain the wood on these? Both pairs of Fortes have slight water ring damage on the top side - we would like to fix that. We've looked at a few threads such as this one below. Seems like the best process is to sand any water damaged parts and apply Watco Rejuvenating oil. Did we get that right? Thanks a lot! Much appreciation from two hardcore Klipsch fans Alex
