Greetings! I recently got rid of my Vintage Klipsch La Scala due to lack of room ( I'm still heart broken), I need something "smaller" like Fortes or Chorus. After doing several hours of looking for an alternative and research I decided to stick with Klipsch... I have had Klipsch since day 0, Rp-160m, Forte ii and La Scalas. Since I had forte ii ( Crites ti tweeters and recapped crossover) I know how well it sound. I recently discovered Chorus which they're bigger. Looking through FB marketplace there's a seller with a pair of Fortes ii ( recapped and ti tweeters) for $850 (one hour away from me). Also there's another seller with a pair of Chorus i (all stock) for $1,600 ( three hours away from me). My question is am I going to notice a huge difference between speakers? Is worth it pay more for the Chorus i plus upgrades? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated! Thank you in advance Happy holidays! Edwin

Sherman, set the WABAC machine to Forte I & Forte II
Arkytype posted a topic in General Klipsch Info
Attached are two crossover network schematics of the Forte I and Forte II I found on the Klipsch forum. I assume these to be accurate. Note that the circuit topology is identical for both and with the exception of the inductor in the tweeter filter, all passive components differ only in value. Note also that on the Forte I schematic that the squawker is wired with inverted polarity but not the tweeter. On the Forte II schematic the tweeter is wired with inverted polarity but not the squawker. Can anyone explain the following: 1. Why invert either of the two drivers in the two Forte models? 2. Why was the squawker inverted on the Forte I and the tweeter inverted on the Forte II? I looked at a dozen or so Klipsch crossover networks posted on the Forum and found a few networks with driver polarity inverted. AL-2: squawker and tweeter AL-3: curiously, all drivers wired "normally". Heresy II: tweeter inverted Obviously, changes in drivers or network topology may dictate the necessity of inverting the polarity of one or more drivers to achieve a more uniform frequency response. But I find it curious that the Forte I and Forte II inverted different drivers in the two respective models. Lee -
Big hello to all you KlipschManiacs out there, I've finally gotten my main 2 Channel system narrowed down and ready to really dial in. Currently the main system consists of Forte II's backed up with two REL T3 subwoofers to tackle and tighten the bottom end. They are driven by a Pass Aleph 30 (30 WPC) solid state amplifier connected with Soniquil speaker cables by Raven Audio and a Soniquil power cable to the amplifier section (plug #6) of an Audioquest Powerquest 2. For volume and switching duties I'm running a Classe' Audio Four Preamplifier to feed the Pass amp connected by Mogami Gold XLR's, connected to the Powerquest with a Cardas Cross power cable. For source components i have a Thorens TD 209, using Audioquest Evergreen RCA's (planning to upgrade) and Audioquest Saturn Ground Goody's, to connect to a Parks Audio Puffin, in turn connected to the preamp with Audioquest Evergreen RCA's (another soon to be upgraded interconnect). The Thorens is provided power by the powerquest and the Puffin is fed power by Furman Equipment For a CD/SACD source i'm awaiting an OPPO BDP-93 from another forum member (I'M STOKED, as i missed out on the Oppo offerings of the last 10-15 years). And finally, to the main point of this post, for a streaming source I utilize an Audioengine B1 Bluetooth Reciever/DAC connected to the preamp with Morrow Audio MA2 RCA Interconnects plugged into Furman gear for EMI/RFI filtration and clean power. The resolution and quality that the Audioengine gives me from Amazon Music HD and Ultra HD is nothing short of incredible. If you are not using a lossless audio provider for streaming music, like Amazon HD or Tidal, even for a mid-fi set up like mine you are doing yourself a great disservice. The quality is jaw dropping compared to streaming using any regular service. To that end I would like to know what streaming recievers and DACS you guys have experience with, and if there are any truly HIFI audiophile bluetooth receivers that are decently priced, (not looking to spend 1500$ 10,000$ 280,000$ like some audiophile gear can be) so looking in the 50$-800$ range. Also maybe a separate DAC that could take my AE B1 to the next level? Does anyone have any experience with the IFI Zen Blue? What about the Bludento BLT-HD? Is there an obvious unit that everyone here already uses and I'm just late to the party and need to be "enlightened"? Being able to pull from such a massive library like amazon music is an incredible convenience and while it won't replace my buying/collecting vinyl and cd's it is quite the way to demo music and access music with ease. Welcome to the 21st Century audiophiles! Also any thoughts/upgrade advice/suggestions on my system set up would be nice. My secondary system is Klipsch KLF-30's on a Yaqin MC13S (40WPC tube integrated) that i am currently gathering source components for. Thanks Guys! Rooster-

Selling my Forte II speakers. They are in excellent condition and have consecutive serial numbers in oiled oak. Really would like a forum member to buy and enjoy them. I just have way too much equipment right now and these shouldn't sit in storage. I've got them up on CL for $750 but for forum member I'd be willing to let go for $650. I live in SW Portland, OR. Don't want to ship, could possibly roadtrip if reasonable. My photos are too high res so I can't even post one! Geeesh! Here's the link to Portland's CL https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ele/d/klipsch-forte-ii-speakers/6715348490.html *** SOLD *** 11/7/2018

I can't believe I am posting here... but this is all an accident.... I just bought a pair of Forte II by mistake. And I didn't even know there was a company called "Klipsch" till a few days before I bought them. ( Still don't know how to say it) Oh man… after years of not listening to music on a decent stereo I am enjoying music at level I didn’t know was possible: spine tingling, gut warming, waves of warm colored sound blanketing me. So for the last 14 years the best audio I had was some sound bar with 3in speakers and a sub. I was becoming so frustrated with tiny sound. So I decided to try and match the mid-fi (lo fi?) High School system I had from 1976-2001 (KLH 3 way with speakers about 2ft high with a Harmon Kardon 50w per channel I think) I went to Best Buy, I felt too cheap to drop over $600 on tower speakers and the cheaper ones sucked. So I got some decent bookshelf speakers. Klipsch M15 they were good. They sounded clear and I heard elements I hadn’t heard. But I wanted something I could FEEL like I remember with my old floor standing speakers. So I looked on Craigslist. I saw a pair of big speakers that in the picture looked about the same size as my 1970 KLHs. They were listed a Klipsch KG4 for $270. I looked them up and they seemed like okay speakers and the same size as my old High School KLHs. I went to the sellers house. The speakers seemed bigger than they should be. But they were comply pristine. Then I listen to them and I was listening for flaws and didn't really find any. I was going to listen for a while and analyse everything, but then I got chills down my spine (listening to Electrelane) which the expensive Best Buy speakers hadn't done. So I said SOLD! BUT when I got them home I realized something was WRONG! 67 lbs each! (I knew they seemed heavier than 45lbs) 35 tall by 16 wide by 12 deep... These aren't KG4s! After some research I found out they were these things called Forte IIs and these weird people called audiophiles seemed to think they were good. So here I am it's near 2:00 am and I am being enveloped in a whole warm colourful wall of dynamic alive multidimensional sound even at low volumes. I am sitting and listening to music for the first time in decades... but it's never been like this. Rehearing old music opening to new music. New categories of music, piano, sitar, even pop! OMG can't beleive I have been missing this. I didn't know what a sound stage was now I have one. It's a new world. Oh no am I an accidental Audiophile because of a in accurate Craigslist post? So what do you all think? Should I demand my money back?

So I love my heresy ii's and my forte II's but I cant afford that nice tube amp yet so I am always looking for a way to lower the output of the tweeter and skwaker in both speaker sets as they are both a bit forward with my current solid state AV amp. Now I know that the answer is a better amp and that is coming!!!! but for the time being I was wondering if anyone has used L pads to attenuate the tweeter and skwaker of either of the 2 sets of speakers I own? If anyone has used them, how did it sound? did you use fixed or variable L pads? Where did you get them or who makes quality ones? or if fixed was used what value resistors were used? Thanks guys Bryan

I have been acquiring and accumulating a collection of extended heritage Klipsch over the last 10 years, most being more recent. I decided to ask the members to help me choose what to keep, sell, trade, replace, upgrade, modify, or put in cryogenic storage . I have a 5.4.1 channel set up in my main listening space of approx. 15'W x 29"L with a sort of U-shape. The rest of the equipment I use is finally up in my signature. If anyone wants to PM me for an offer that is fine, but this is not intended as a sell thread, I will do that later on as a parallel thread to this one in the garage section, if/when/what goes up for sale. I am located 30 miles outside Madison, Wisconsin and anyone wanting to have a listening session may also send a PM. I am not affiliated with any business, not in sales, not flipping for profit, not trying to fish, not trying to donate my stuff. I am trying to contribute here. Try to stay on topic please. If anyone would like to start or suggest another thread to address any specific A/B comparisons, I would contribute to another thread as well. I will be doing some A/B here, but large heavy speakers are not easily rotated in and out. All these Klipsch speakers are of the passive radiator type, so placement here does apply. I intend to move the Quartets off the stands and place their replacements directly on the floor at the same location they are in currently. The single RSW-10 subwoofer, also passive radiator, is currently under the Quartet on the right in the pic. I have just added another to my collection, a matched pair of Oiled Oak Chorus II that will be replacing something in my listening space to accommodate them according to how this thread goes. -My Center channel is a Black lacquer HALF of a matched pair of Forte II + Crites titanium tweeter diaphram + Klipsch sourced k-53-ti midrange driver assembly + Crites bandpass board + Crites crossovers. It sits sideways on a Black glass tv stand underneath the tv 15" clearance from the back wall 28" up to centerline. -The other HALF is stored with equal modifications intact. All original parts are stored. Condition = 98/100 The other center channel speakers I have stored are: -1 of 3 Academy Black lacquer + Crites titanium tweeter diaphram + Crites crossover. All original parts are stored. Condition = 98/100 -2 of 3 Academy Black lacquer + Original box, styrofoam, and plastic sleeve. Condition 92/100 -3 of 3 Academy Oiled Oak stock. Condition 93/100 -1 of 2 KV-3 Oiled Oak. Condition 98/100 -2 of 2 KV-3 Oiled Oak. Condition 98/100 -My Front channel is set as matched pair of Chorus II Oiled Walnut with Crites titanium tweeter diaphram + Crites crossovers. Condition 96/100 Maybe I should upgrade change the Chorus II midrange to Ti as I did with the Forte II? All original parts are stored -My Surround channel is a matched pair of Oiled Oak Quartets + Crites titanium tweeter diaphram + Crites crossovers. All original parts are stored. Condition 98/100 -My Single Subwoofer is Black lacquer RSW-10. Space and neighbors are a concern here. The flow chart of the proposed changes is as follows: Should I keep looking for another pair of Chorus II to split up with another local I know of who is trying for a 5 channel all Chorus II room. Should I replace rear Quartets with newly acquired Chorus II in stock condition, with modifications to follow later Should I Put 1 pair Quartets up for sale Should I split a matched pair Forte II and put HALF up for sale Should I Put 3 Academy centers up for sale individually, 2 in Black could be used as an expansion to 7.1 or 9.1 in height/rear/surround locations Should I Put 2 KV-3 centers up for sale individually, 2 in Oak could be used as an expansion to 7.1 or 9.1 in height/rear/surround locations I will be editing this post as needed as the thread develops. Any of my Klipsch could go into my second listening space that is currently occupied by JBL L100T3 and other T3 variants. I did just sell a pair of JBL L80T3 in light oak. Not sure why I would move the rest. I am thankful for all those here who have gotten me to this point.

Hey so I plan on finishing my basement and turning it into a theater room, one area that I plan on using is 14ft wide by 18 feet long. I have a Yamaha aventage 2070 receiver powering x2 RP-280f, RP450c, a R 112 sub and using some small Yamaha satellite speakers as my surrounds, I also picked up 4 cdt-5800 ceiling speakers for when I get that project downstairs rolling but was wondering about my surround speakers, My final setup will be a 5.1.4 and have some old infinity towers laying around that ill most likely use but was looking online and saw a pair of Forte ii speakers for $350, I really like the look but would it be worth getting and using as surrounds? or as my fronts and use my RP-280f's as my rear surrounds? I'm probably good with what I have but mentally cant turn down those Fortes..

Hello! Brand new to this page, and for this specific reason! I am moving out of my house soon and decided to see what I was going to bring with me. My dad left speakers, and little did I know until about an hour ago these big guys are Forte IIs. With what I have read, they seem to be pretty decent too! But I have NOOOOOO CLUE how to set these up. I am used to aux cords, and usb to hear music, so I'm pretty dumb founded with these weird looking wires lol.. I really want to hook them up and get them playing some music/for movies (if thats normal). Any advice on how to set them up would be greatly appreciated... if the sound doesn't blow me away and is not worth it to me, just going to sell them as i do need money! Any advice would be great! Thanks again. Cheers!

Anyone here in the southeast US looking to sell their Forte II's? Would prefer Walnut but I'm interested in just about any finish as long as the speakers themselves are in good condition. Have had two Craigslist deals fall through for me when I had them bought over the last two months and I figured I'd give this a shot. Located in Alabama but willing to drive the distance for the right deal. Thanks!

Hey guys, I recently got a pair of "mint-ish" walnut Chorus I and have installed the titanium tweeter diaphragms and about to have my xo refurbished by Bob. The Chorus are replacing my good looking walnut Forte IIs that also have the titanium tweeter diaphragms and the xo that have been refurbished by Bob. My question/conundrum is this: Should I sell the Forte IIs or keep them a while? I am really torn as to if should sell my Forte IIs. One the one hand, from what I understand and read, a great pair of walnut Forte IIs are somewhat of a rare thing. On the other hand, my Forte IIs are just taking up space in my living room, not connected. I am not in need of the cash value of the Forte IIs, so I am not in a hurry or pinch to sell them. I wonder if I am being short sighted in considering selling the Fortes IIs? Another question I considered, is the Chorus I a step up or above the Forte IIs? In my ear, the Chorus has a better mid-range than the Fortes II, and this is before my Chorus has their xo refurbished by Bob. I can only imagine how much better the sound will improve once the xo are refurbished. Is there any other points I'm not thinking of that perhaps I should consider before making a decision? Thanks in advance guys.

I'm bumping this up because an interested party decided to go with some Cornwalls. For sale is a pair of Forte II walnut oil. Please see the attached pdf having information and pictures. Type: For II WO Serial Numbers 90056681 and -82 Condition is good to very good but not mint because of some blemishes in the riser and that one of the badges is bent. The exception is that the back lower corner of one (the riser) is a bit mushed in. The previous owner said he let it down harshly there. Also, one metal badge is bent at bit. Otherwise the condition is impressive -- the veneer and drivers are in good shape. The rear passive is in good condition on both. I have the original shipping boxes. There is a label from UPS stating they weigh 75 lbs (each). Yes I can wheel them to Fed Ex or UPS office. These are presently located in an office in downtown Chicago (just north of the Willis (Sears) Tower. If you want you could drive by and I'll meet you at the curb. I've got an amp here and you can audition but it is not much of a listening situation. Price $750 but negotiable. You pay shipping. Contact me through the forum please. Hey gang, I wanted to solicit feedback/advice/wisdom/opinions regarding a crossroads I am at regarding speakers. Current situation: Forte II with new titanium tweeter diaphragms, new Crites crossovers, new passive radiators. Opportunity: 88 LaScalas with AL crossovers, 401 composite horn, beautiful polyurethane/clear coat over the birch, minor nicks. Price 950. Question: Should I keep my Forte II since they are in excellent shape? Should I sell them to help fund the LaScalas? If I get the LaScalas, what should I do with the AL crossovers? Are the AL crossovers worth anything? Thank you all in advance. -Alex

I inherited some speakers from my dad awhile back--he was a huge Klipsch fan. I sold the Cornwalls through this forum about 4 years ago, but kept the Forte IIs. We are downsizing and I must reluctantly offer them for sale (a decision made more difficult by the fact that I just hooked them up and listened to them today--almost changed my mind about this!). They have some water staining on the tops, but I think those marks could be sanded out. Asking $450. Pick-up only.
-
I am the original owner of a pair of Forte II's in oiled walnut that I purchased in the mid 1980's. These speakers are all original and in very very good condition. I am asking $550 firm for the pair. I am not desperate to sell them, so I really am not interested in giving them away, consequently, I will not consider low ball offers. I have some of the paperwork that came with these speakers (it might be all of it).

Hi, I'm looking for a nice pair of Klipsch Forte II speakers for a reasonable price. I live in the Netherlands, Europe. I also might be interested in Chorus II or Quartets, depending on asking price. So please drop me a message if you live in the area and have something interesting to offer. Cheers! Laszlo

I recently put new drivers in my forte ii's and noticed the previous owner cracked on of the tactix horns during their servicing of these speakers. so i am on the look out for 1 mid tactix horn for forte ii. I don't the magnet or the diaphragm just the horn....any help would be awesome!!
