  1. I'd like to thank all of you that helped me decide on a receiver in a previous thread, I think I'll be powering all this with a Denon AVRX6300H. Currently, I have a 5.2.2 setup that I'm looking to upgrade to a 7.2.4 system. (right now it's L/R Klipsch RF 7II, center RC-64II, surround RS-62II, atmos RP-140SA and 2x SVS SB2000 subs.) I LOVE the reference line, but I feel like using RF 7IIs as rears would be overkill and I considered using two more RS 62II but being bipoles I wasn't sure they'd make for great rears. Could I use my old RP-260F as rears or would it sound mismatched because they're RP and not RF? I feel moderately satisfied with the RP-140SA, I feel like adding two more could make a big difference but if I wasn't impressed by two RP-140SA... Maybe I should put in the effort of CDT-5800-C II or CDT-5650-C II? The square footage is roughly 17x20. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
  2. It's finally here. We are so proud to announce that Klipsch Reference Premiere HD Wireless is available now from Klipsch.com and select retailers: http://www.klipsch.com/rp-hd-wireless I also posted a blog "10 Reasons To Get Reference Premiere HD Wireless" which not only gives you the value propositions of the product but should also give you an idea of how important this is to the team: http://www.klipsch.com/blog/ten-reasons-to-get-klipsch-reference-premiere-hd-wireless-speaker-system/ Some of you have probably heard me say this before, but all employees were given the demo of these speakers a couple months back and most came out saying that it was the best Klipsch demo they had ever heard. The Klipsch engineering team really outdid itself with this one. These aren't just great wireless speakers. These are great speakers PERIOD. If you have any questions technical or otherwise, please feel free to ask them and I'll do my best to get them all answered!
  3. Hi! I'm looking for some advice on receivers, I'll admit my HT audio knowledge is rudimentary.. (working on fixing that ) A while back I had bought the Onkyo TX-NR646 for its Atmos compatibility, this was when I had the smaller size of Klipsch RP speakers. I've since upgraded my setup to 5.2.2 - L/R Klipsch RF 7II, center RC-64II, surround RS-62II, atmos RP-140SA and 2x SVS SB2000 subs. I realize Klipsch speakers are considered conservative as far as power is concerned, but would I notice an improvement in audio quality if I upgraded my receiver? I was considering the Denon AVR-X4200W to this end as well as being able to step up to 7.2.2 I will admit, it's hard for me to imagine these speakers sounding better. When my SO and I first listened to them they took our breath away. It truly felt like there weren't speakers in the room, rather the MOVIE was happening in the room! We're now Klipsch fans for life. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Also, I mainly use the speaker setup for movies and games.
  4. Hello all, im new here to the forum but I just received my speakers from crutchfield and got them set up and man they sound great! Ive had a fun time doing my project and though to share about what I have done and to see what you guys are doing in your HT's. What kind of equipment you run, how would you change your setup? Etc, etc. I have spent quite some time working to replace old components and make my HT the way I want it. My father always had component systems, i.e. Receiver, phono, tape, CD etc. so I grew up seeing these items and familiarizing myself with them. However, he wasn't an audiophile and bought mid grade components. Mostly Sony, I think the tape player was a fisher and the Phonos I recall were technics. Nothing over the top but usually sounded ok. Growing up listening to music a lot and becoming a musician I found appreciation for better quality sound. So when I bought my home a couple years ago, and after all the stuff I took care of to get it right for me like new carpet and paint, solar panels fixed and pool in tip top shape, it was time to get my theater how I wanted it for a price I could afford. Still working on it but as of now it's ok with me. For the past month or so I've been slowly working on my weekends off from work and usually with no ones help, to get my theater up and running and also aesthetically pleasing. It started with a new 75" Samsung screen to go atop my fireplace when I bought my home. I was using an old Sony receiver from 1999 that my father had purchased along with those JBL's and one day I popped in a blu-ray only to see a big picture. (Pun intended) there was no sound because the AVR I had was too old and couldn't decode the audio format. I went down to the local bestbuy and bought a STR-DN1050. I like it. I know it's not the best or most powerful but it seems to work for me. My home also came with outdoor patio speakers but they were exceedingly decrepit and sounded horrible. So I had the nice big flat panel, a decent AVR, I wound up getting some Yamaha outdoor speakers on sale at Best Buy and removing those old patio speakers and upon doing so, it kind of put me in a mode of getting things done. Upon changing the patio speakers, I realized how bad the wires were so I decided to put a bit more time into the job and run new wiring. That's basically the beginning. My whole home theater project started because I knew the wiring to my patio speakers was terrible and I had to do something about it. Once I ran new wiring to the patio speakers I sat down and looked at my tv and said to myself "I need to get rid of those wires" meaning the ones dangling from the tv to the avr stand and power plug. I began researching how to videos on YouTube and other places, talking to people who I know who are contractors or people who know the right ways to do things. I'm pretty knowledgeable I'd say but certain things (like finishing drywall) I just simply haven't done before and lack the experience. running the wires to the outdoor speakers was pretty simple because the previous owner had made a hole from in to outside and there was a piece of pvc tubing in the top portion of my fireplace wall for wiring to go thru and then down the wall to the AVR area. It was simple because I used the old wires to pull new ones thru. I didn't have to cut holes or use fishtape at all. However when it came to the point in which the speaker wire exited the wall they were lazy. They literally had a hole drilled and that was it. No outlet cover, no labeling, just a lazy junky looking hole with two wires coming out of it. For the time being I used that hole but that was the day I told myself I'm going to take on the project and make everything look legit and professional. Being a normal blue collar dude, I had to wait for my paychecks to come in for me to start getting all the supplies together. One thing that helped me out was living in Southern California and learning of a place called monoprice. Turns out they are right down the way from me about 30 minutes and I utilized the hell out of them. I recommend them to anyone who's trying to do what I just did for sure especially with the speaker wire and banana plugs. Best Buy rapes people on wire and plugs. I made a plan, and over the course of time and when I had the money to get the supplies I put together a vision. My goal was to run my home theater wiring, making it to where I had no visible wires anywhere, to save money by doing the work myself, most importantly do it properly and no Mickey moused and to learn as I went. The first hole. I began my first hole into my wall for a power receptacle for my flat screen. The cord was plugged into an extension cord and hanging down from the tv along with all the hdmi cables and etc. looked terrible. I hated it. I had purchased so 14/2 romex from the local Home Depot and a recessed outlet. I used a old work high voltage 1 gang fixture to put this new plug into and after I think 30 or 45 minutes I was all done installing the plug. I ran power from a nearby outlet on the same 15 amp breaker and said let there be power and there was and it was good. So that was one thing down. Another day I decided to get the hdmi and digital optical audio cables fished thru the walls from tv to AVR area. Did that, hardest part was having to take the giant flat panel off the wall and try not to drop it cause I had no one to help me. I highly recommend using help. I would have but everyone was busy. In order to place the hdmi and optical cables to the right locations I had to cut out an access point in my wall because there was a fireblock in the way. For those who don't know, fireblocks are horizontal studs between a set of vertical studs and they are inconsistently placed in a wall to help reduce the spread of fire. I had to drill a 1 inch hole thru them to fit my wires thru and of course seal them with a California code approved fireblock sealant when I was all done. As time went on I got more and more done and finally on the last weekend for the last part of the job which I was dreading most, my little friend Brian came by to give me a hand. See, I have cathedral ceilings in my house and I wasn't sure if I could get all the way over to the areas needed to penetrate the top plate to run the rear surround wiring which was on the farthest exterior wall from my attic access point. Turns out I can fit myself up there but Brian being a fraction of my size did it much easier. he helped me out a lot that day and we got all the wiring in the attic done, all the top plates got sealed. All that was left was to add a couple more plates for the two front speakers next to the fireplace and the subwoofer outlet on the far left side of room. We got those wrapped up and then I just waited. I had had ordered my Klipsch R28F speakers along with the R12SW from crutchfield. I saved over 100$ on taxes because they offer free shipping and no tax. So while I waited to for my new awesome speakers to come in, I cleaned up the living room, put my couch back into place. Vacuumed up a bit and waited for the day I'd see my speakers in my living room. Well that day was actually two days but I got my speakers as soon as they got off the plane. I drove to Ontario, Calif. to the UPS freight warehouse where I was able to pick them up immediately. Awesome. I got them a day in advance. My sub on the other hand, I didn't get it until Tuesday at 2036. It was 30 minutes past my bedtime. I couldn't even turn it on. So now it's been a couple of days since I've had them and man they sound amazing! I hooked everything up very simply and had power to them in like 2 seconds thanks to my idea of putting a speaker wire +/- outlet behind every speaker. I should mention that I added a home theater distribution panel as well and that made things super clean and easy. im still working on smoothing out my dry way and getting it ready for texture cause I have to retexture the spots I cut a hole into but I'll have to finish that this weekend. But for now, I'm happy as a pig in slop knowing that I did the work myself and saved a lot of money, I got some great speakers and I finally have a system that I got for myself that sounds really good. Sense of accomplishment with the whole thing. So how about you? Share your home theater stories or equipment specs or whatever. Samsung 75" LED Smart TV Samsung Blu-Ray player Sony STR DN-1050 jailbroken fire stick custom built media server running pled, w/16 TB storage for backup of media. (No more cd or dvds laying around taking up shelving space!) Klipsch R28F's for front L/R Klipsch R25C for center Klipsch R15M's for surrounds Klipsch R12SW for sub currently have my settings on my AVR and sub set to this. Front speakers Large Center small and EQ rounded up to nearest 10 from what manual says is lowest frequency response of speaker. Surrounds small and EQ is set in the same manner as center channel. Sub is plugged into LFE only. Gain is set to just before midpoint (like 4.5/11) EQ dial on sub is set all the way up. phase is at 0. I found that my settings allow for a smooth bass. Not too much and not too little. It picks up all the bass noise in movies and sounds great for music. I ran the auto calibration on my AVR also before I started listening. my fronts and center is 10 ft for fronts and 10 ft 2 inches away from seating position and AVR picked that up accurately. my sub is 13 ft from seating position and got picked up at around 15 ft and applies a -6db drop. my surrounds are 6.5 feet away from seating position and 1db increase was put on them. im going to try to add some photos of my work and a bit of what my setup looks like but I'll have to do it in another post just below this one. Please excuse my mess of tools, wires and energy drinks on my table in some of the photos.

  6. Hello everyone! *ABOUT ME, SKIP DOWN FOR MY TOPIC* New to the forum, but I actually just got into Klipsch! My step dad has had the Quintet III for years now and he loves it and I admit it sounds damn good. Before I have what I have now, I owned the Polk Audio RM6750 surround system. It was a basic 5.1 channel with a small subwoofer. I used all of the surround speakers but never used the sub or the center channel. After hearing my step dad's set up, and with his Klipsch Sub10, I ended up building my own. It was during the time I loved building speakers, so I ordered the woofer off of eBay, bought a plate amp and port, and built it to the spec's of his. It turned out great! Also I custom built my center channel with speakers from HiVI, and crossover'd them. I had them all running through an older Yamaha 6.1 Receiver! Currently, this is what I have: Current Setup Klipsch R-15m --- Mains (2) Klipsch R-14m --- Surrounds (2) Custom HiVI --- Center Polk Audio PSW505 --- Subwoofer Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH --- Receiver HISENSE 55h8c 4k --- Television So overall, my setup is decent however there are some problems with it. I've been looking everywhere for a suitable replacement for the receiver and I've come up with nothing in my price range really. The guy is a beast what can I say! The sound is very clear, it pushes 140 watts at 8 ohms which is rare to find because everything now says "WOW 250 watts in every channel! *in fine print* at 6 ohms! So now reduce the power a lot to get the 8 Ohms. The THX certification is a nice feeling to have even though the speakers aren't, and just overall it's very easy to use. Problem being, I'm trying to get a little more modern. The Elite only has HDMI 1.3 I believe, which doesn't support 4K pass-through. My question being, what would be a good upgrade receiver wise to give me similar sound/plus having 4K pass-through? OR, I have been considering if I went with a power amplifier and a cheaper receiver to do the same thing while allowing me to get 4K pass-through. I have looked into Emotiva, Rotel, Parasound and so on and all of them are quite expensive of course for a 5 Channel amp. Is any of this worth it? Or should I continue just running all of my stuff to my TV then exporting through optical? Thank you for reading, hope you have a good day! - Josh

  8. Hello all! I'm selling a few extra things I have sitting around. First off is a brand new in box pair of black RP-160M bookshelves. I got these as part of a bundle with some RF-7 II's and an RC-64 II but I already had a pair of them, so I don't really have a need. Asking $350. Can and will ship at buyer's expense. I also have a couple brand new in box WA-2 wireless subwoofer kits for use with the reference series subs. I bought a couple R-115sw's and they came with them but I prefer a wired connection. Asking $60 each, will ship at buyer's expense. Last but not least I have a pair of Cherry Polk (eww I know) RTi A9's that I ended up with as part of a trade and I really have no space for them. Plus, I'm sort of a Klipsch guy. No idea what these things are really worth, but MSRP looks to be $1500/pair. The previous owner either had them shipped or knocked them over, and unfortunately they have a couple dings in them. The worst by far is next to the middle woofer on one of the speakers, but all drivers are absolutely flawless. I have a couple pics to highlight the damage, luckily it's mostly covered by the grills. If there's any interest, I'd strongly prefer local pickup in Terre Haute, IN. Asking $600 for the pair.
  9. May be selling this original pair. I am the owner since day one. Great condition. Gauging interest. Thanks!

  11. Hello, I have a set of vintage corner speakers that I would like to find out more information about. Can anyone tell me what they are and what the value might be on them. They are in very nice working condition. Thank you
  12. I have Polk Audio [LSiM 707 (as Front Main), LsiM 703 (Front High), LsiM 706 (Center), LsiM 702 F/X (Surround)] in my 7.2 systems. I would like to know if RP-140SA as atmos speakers matches above system (particularly for Lsim 707, note: its top surface is slightly curve not flat). Any your input will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
  13. Clean, fair/good condition RC-7 center speaker. [front grill fasteners have been replaced w/magnetic fasteners.] North TX. Any reasonable offer. Thinking $250?

  16. Hello. I am in need of (2) Passive Subwoofers for a pair of KG4. Anyone have them besides Ebay? Thanks!
  17. So I have a Onkyo TX-SR706, I thought of upgrading to a TX-NR555 would that make a difference? I have R28F's and a R25C connected to it so far that's all.. or should I get R15M bookshelfs for my rear surrounds?
  18. Hello, I'm forced to change my amp in following "desktop" setup: notebook -> Audioquest Dragonfly v1.2 -> Wireworld Luna 7 -> Denon PMA-720 AE -> Oehlbach Bi-tech 4 -> Klipsch RB-81 II. My budget for amp is 550 € (610 $). Local dealers offer mostly Cambridge Audio, Marantz, NAD, Yamaha and Onkyo. Any recommendations? I'm also considering a DAC upgrade. Something like Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus would be nice. Do you think it's a good idea or should I look for more expensive amp with build-in DAC instead? One way or another I need to buy a USB cable... Any advices regarding a cable company with reasonable prices considering my budget and setup. As for genres. I'm listening to all of them
  19. Hello all members, This is my first topic and post on this forum, my english is a bit weak and rusty, so please be tolerant Recently i found white heresy speakers... seller didn't know what he was sellin' - to be honest i didn't know what i was buyin' too. So a bit akward situation. I bought them with Arcus TL 220 (set Arcus + Klipsch) - to be frank the 'little ones' - heresy... i paid for them almost nothing... I plugged them in into an oldschool Grundig A9000 (Marantz PM-80, with slightly bigger transformer), I was literally blown away with the sound quality, on everyday use i'm using Quadral Montan MK V - or maybe i should say i was using They are true legend speakers, that's for sure. In the past i had some JBL Studio monitor speakers... But to the point, Please help me, which heresy they are, i'm confused because they are first of all white inside and outside. The best part is i've never seen heresy with non-removal front grille, that's my biggest confusion. Crossover - Type C Lowrange - K-22 with red foam (alnico?) Midrange - K-55V (alnico?) Tweeter - K-77 (alnico?) They have non-removal grille - is that normal? No other information gathered, no backplate info, no nothing - they been repainted, at least outside. Please give me more info, they play phenomenal.

Only $69 a pair and free delivery through Newegg today for a pair of Klipsch RB-10 bookshelf speakers.
  21. Jim, Can you tell me what I have here? I acquired a really nice pair of old Klipsch speakers in huge ornate wooden cabinets. They look like they were used in an auditorium or something. They work great. Can you help me find out more about them like year mfg., age, model, purpose, value, rarity, collectability ? Here's a pdf link with a bunch of more pictures. http://montereymusicclub.com/klipsch/klipsch.pdf I'm being told they're home made cabinets and Klipsch never put out anything like this. They were definitely made by a cabinet shop, not home made. They're a matched set, the cabinet work is A1 and there's no evidence there was ever anything else inside them to think they used to be something else. Each of the back of the horns have a Klipsch tag; PK K-55-V / serial #10035 and #10041. There is a Klipsch id strip on the bottom edge of the electric board that says Type A. What would that mean? Who likely made these and is there any way to trace the history via the above serial numbers ? Thank you, Gary Smith
  22. Just to share my experience. I just replaced my K-77M driver-to-horn gasket with the "Garlock Style 3000 Blue-gard compressed non-asbestos" sheet gasketing (1/32 inch thickness). I could hear the improvement especially (at least to my hearing) it eliminates the high-end distortion that usually heard whenever I maximised the treble gain on my pre-amp (I'm using VTA-12 tubes pre amp). Does anybody has the same experience by replacing their K-77 driver-to-horn gaskets especially when there are NO aftermarket gaskets for K-77M driver-to-horn? My Cornwalll is the 1981 version with all original stocks and Bob Crites' B2 crossovers inside. Cheers, Jimmy
  23. I recently purchased (4) RF7II to replace my wides & fronts that are currently RF82II. These are in fully dedicated theater. I have RB61II as my surrounds and figured why not use the RF82II as surrounds. I was planning on putting them on a 20"'enclosure and tilt them slightly with a slanted isolation pad and this will put them at 62". My question is, will it be okay to tilt these slightly? I have never tilted a floor standing speaker. My reasoning is to have surrounds in same place as bookshelves where (62") and aimed slightly down above ear level. I can't put them on floor at ear level bacuse my 2nd row of seating is on 10" riser to see over 1st row that is on 6" riser. If I can't tilt I will mount them at 48" (middle tweeter) so tweeter is slightly (2") above 2nd row setting. And 4" above 1st row setting. So tilt or no tilt guys?

  25. Not Affiliated Got home from a brutal 12 hr shift at the factory. Running on about 22 hrs awake (fairly normal for a Wed/Thurs).See my wife off to work, decide to check Craigslist for some Forte's (cheap ones fit my budget). Find the following post: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/ele/6045363894.html WHOA!!! Looks like Cornwall I for $450!!!! Slightly distressed, but right in my wheelhouse! Send an e- mail and get ready for bed. I pad dings, look at e- mail, and seller says may be seen before 1300 today, and there has been lots of interest. (Sorry, retired military) Call Muldoon and say I'm of my way. (Hope they fit in the Pimpmobile ((2000 Volvo S-700))) Hit the ATM. BOOGIE. Hit traffic onna 101. Schvitzin'. Get to Indian School Rd and 82nd street. Realize I don't have the address. Call Muldoon and ask for address. No answer. Turn on street on Google maps and park. Wait. Wait. Call again. No answer. Grind teeth. Wait. Guy walks up to car and sez "Are you the guy from Chandler? I just sold them. So many people called I didn't know who was who." Le Wah!!!! Oh, well I still have a lovely wife of > 30 yrs, who puts up with my varied manias and five children who are good citizens and six grandchildren who think that I'm OK. And a line on some Forte's I can afford. Le Wah. Any how there are still many components for any in the Phoenix metro area who may be interested, and if the price on the Cornwall speakers is an indication, there are bargains to be had. Happy Hunting JBCODD
