  1. Yesterday I wandered across this article about Chipotle restaurants using Klipsch Heresy's for their sound system. This intrigued me; I'd only visited a Chipotle once, about a month ago, and failed to notice the Heresy installation or the sound. That should be a subtle indication that the sound wasn't impressive, which is contrary to my experience with Heresy's I have in my condo. Fast forward to today, when a coworker and I were out on a service call and he wanted to eat at Chipotle for lunch. I thought this would be a great chance to revisit the sound system. It didn't impress me at all. Thank goodness Klipsch didn't demand a logo be placed near the speakers; it wouldn't be good advertising. I think it's the acoustics of the restaurant and the speaker placement which killed everything about the Heresy that I love. While you could argue that, at background music levels, that you won't hear much to impress, I think otherwise. One wall was brick; the ceiling was all steel and girder beams. With the speakers mounted away from any boundary walls (the plywood fascia didn't count as a contributor in my eyes), there was no bass reinforcement. Chipotle could pretty much have tossed the woofer and not affected the sound. I know some people consider the Heresy light in the bass department but that hasn't been my experience. The live acoustics muddied the sound. Here was a case of a sound system thrown together without any professional advice as to the application and installation. Taming the live acoustics would be one component of the solution. Since placing the Heresy's at floor level wouldn't be practical and I don't think ceiling placement would improve the bass either, the addition of a subwoofer, hidden behind the plywood architecture is almost mandatory. I wonder if LaScala's replaced the Heresy's in the same location would add that tactile bass at background music levels? Something needed to be done otherwise the Chipotle/Heresy marriage is nothing to brag about.

  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322359031882?ul_noapp=true I actually put in a best offer for these when the seller originally listed these last night. His sell price then was $325 a pair or best offer. Also it worked out to $25 for shipping in the Ebay calculator. He then contacted me to counter my offer and to tell me how rare these are. He would go no lower than $300 for them if I was interested....but he won't ship them.? ? ? This fellow then went in and made changes to the listing. They are now more than double his original asking price and he still has shipping available. What a stretch to think he only has a feedback rating of one....lol
  4. Selling my consecutive serial numbered Klipsch Chorus II speakers in original condition. Few minor nicks and dings but overall in original excellent condition considering their age. Buyer is welcome to demo before purchase. Other components in pictures are not for sale. I can ship these but buyer will be responsible for cost. Please inquire if you would like these shipped. 3% PayPal fee for transactions. I would like to sell these locally in the SF Bay Area and would be willing to deliver within a reasonable distance or meet halfway. Please ask with any questions. Asking $1200.00 for the pair.
  5. I've been shopping for a pair of used Klipsch horn speakers for awhile now and finally found a pair of Klipsch KG5.2 two-ways in my area. The seller was asking $300 for the pair, but when I went to check them out last night I noticed three small tears in the surrounds of one of the woofers, less than half an inch each. The surrounds didn't feel brittle or break apart when I pressed them lightly so I think they might have originally been rubber, not foam? Hopefully someone can chime in to confirm. The other three woofers looked fine, and I think the speakers sounded great, although it was my first time listening to horn-loaded tweeters so I might've missed something. I talked the guy down to $200, but I'm wondering if that's even worth it? I found a pair of replacement foams here for $25, plus the time and effort to learn how to do it (it'll be my first surround replacement). It could even be more if I decide to replace all of them. I guess my question is, is it inadvisable to use them with the rips? I'd say there are three small tears less than half an inch in size around one of the woofers. Does the sound quality diminish significantly when tears happen, and will it get worse over time as I play them? Images attached, thanks!
  6. Any help is appreciated on this, a friend gave me these speakers. I do not see a serial number or model number on them. I'm not an audiophile either and I don't understand the speaker wire hook-ups--it looks like you can either wrap the wire around the screw or around a threaded rod then screw down a wingnut on it? Is there some sort of special terminal or way to hook these up?
  7. After a huge investment of time and precious metal I have nearly finished my built-from-scratch home theater. Mains are TSCMs with a pair of RF 81ii for the center. The surrounds are RS 62ii and RS 51ii. Rears are RB81s and there are 4 [currently unused] ceiling ATMOS speakers. Amp is Top of line Marantz set up for 9.2. One of most important items is the length of the HDMI and Ethernet lines. I had trouble with lower performance lines as short as 10 feet. Anything over 10-15 feet mandates top of the line cabling. Especially important if you plan to stream 4k TV. I used special drywall with additional sound absorptive paint. Has worked well to limit the reflections. Heavy carpet with thick pads have limited the floor reflections. For you Klipsch Pro fans the TSCMs were pricey but have totally out performed a pair of Cornwalls. Looks like overkill; but, no one says you have to turn them up. In my theater I must be running them at 2 % of capacity and they absolutely sound great. I have tried almost every conceivable surround combination and frankly my ears can not tell the difference between the RS 62s and the RS 51s when used as surrounds. Actually any other quality speaker for that matter having tried at least 6 other combinations. The mains and center have made a huge difference however.

  9. Hello, 2 weeks a go i heard a loud pop in my ProMedia 5.1 system. Does anyone know where i could find a Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 board? Mine recently died. I took it to my friend who is an audio guy and one of the components is burnt, and he said i would probably need to replace the entire board to fix it but he doesn't know where i could get one. He recommended me search online for a board but i cannot find any anywhere. Does anyone know where i can buy one? Do they even make these anymore? My Klipsch Promedia 5.1 lasted a good 13 years. I guess the ride is over, but before i move on, i would like to know if i can get this repaired. I am located in Philly. Does anyone know what i can do? Attached are two files showing the board and the burnt part. If anyone can help me save me beloved Klipsch system I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

  13. Hi. Newbie here. I have a G-17 that I've had hooked up to my network in the past. Now I'd like to just use the 3.5mm input jack. I've tried pushing the I/O button to get the three flashes but still get no sound. I haven't used this for a few years, so has something changed and caused an issue or am I just missing something simple? Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

  21. The 70th Anniversary Klipschorn is a soul-stirring tribute to Paul W. Klipsch's original design. As the only speaker that has been in continuous production for 70 years, I don't think I need to go into more of it's history. It's the American original. 22. On my last forum i Wrote about my Klipsch KG 5.5's that i acquired at a garage sale for a great bargain. I just got my Crites Titanium tweeter upgrades today and now i want to change the look of the speaker cosmetically. I have the natural Oak finish, and i was maybe thinking about doing a White carbon fiber vinyl wrap on the sides, and a black carbon fiber wrap on the front baffle. Any thoughts on this? If you guys have any other ideas, let me know, i want to make them look badass and unique.
  23. I just viewed this weeks ABC Warehouse flyer and noticed they have several Klipsch speakers on sale for half off. Seem like pretty fair deals to be had: Reference R26F towers for $350 R10SW powered sub $175 R15M bookshelf $199 a pair R25C center channel $186.75 You could put together a decent little system for not a lot! Tim
  24. Hi Klipsch lovers, I'd like to share my experience on tubes rolling for my 1981 Cornwall I. After almost a year using NOS Mullard 5U4G rectifier, 2x French brand 12AU7's for L&R + EH's 12BH7 on the C for the drivers (with monthly bias adjusment), I decided to do some tubes rolling. Yesterday I put a NOS Mullard GZ34R for the rectifier, 2x matched NOS 1954 Raytheon 5814 for the L&R + Genalex ECC82 on C for drivers channels. After readjusted the bias setting, then I fired up the amps. My impression was: 1. On CD. I played "Jazz at the pawnshop" & "Marantz's High End Audiophile Test" CDs. The result was: I heard a bigger sound stage compared to previous tubes setting, the stereo is wider with clearer details and easy to pint point the instruments with no hars on the highs. I could hear the fingering on the straight-up bass much clearer. One of the track on the Marantz cd (Harumi played by Circle Percussion), the low was sound nicely tight (not boomy) with alot of details on the highs. On of the track which had a trumpet lines, it was nicely presented with no harsh on my ears. 2. On Turntable. I played some Ben Webster, it brings the saxophone sound much forward/bigger. I could hear Webster's breath clearly with details on others instrument. The only downside, the stereo image is not as wide as the CD, maybe it's the way they recorded. 3. Digital music from my Itunes collection (in Apple Lossless format) using Schiit DAC. I played some "vocals" such as Jenna Mammina, Roberta Flack, Norah Jones, Nat King Cole, Diana Krall. Their vocals were so clear & details with forward soundstage which I love it. Overall, I love this tubes setting compare to my previous tube set up. I'm not sure which tubes from the mixed that brings up the big diferences and sorry I'm not a techy guy, this was just my observation. Here's my set up: A pair of 1981 Cornwall I with Crite's updated B2 XO, with all original drivers, tweeter, sqwuaker & woofer. Bob Latino's VTA120 in pentode mode (my preference). SP12R/PH12 pre-amp from tubes4hifi. The same 4xEH KT-90 for the output tubes (with bias set to around 0.500 dcV). Schiit Bifrost DAC. Marantz 7003 CD player. Project Debut Carbon with Red Ortofon cartridge. Any one has better experience on using Mullard GZ34R, Raytheon 5814 or Genalex ECC82 on their amps, are welcome to share their experiences & opinions on this thread. Cheers all, Jimmy *Edited: For the Turntable, I'm using Phoenix PSU as well.
  25. Yah, yah, I know...Almost all of you have seen most of this already, but we officially posted the product pages, specs, photography and an introductory video. We genuinely believe Dolby Atmos is the biggest advancement in home cinema since surround sound. It's something you really need to experience to understand (although we try to explain it in our blog haha). It's probably the craziest/most awesome demo I have had in the 3+ years I have worked at Klipsch. The RP-280FA is a version of the RP-280F floorstanding speaker with Dolby Atmos built-in via an elevation channel. It comes in black and real walnut wood veneers. The RP-450CA is the matching center channel for this system that comes with those same veneer options. The RP-140SA is actually pretty cool because you can add it to whatever speakers you currently have if you are looking to implement Atmos that way. I actually just picked up a pair during an employee auction for my home theater (RP-260F, RP-450C, RP-250S, R-112SW). Of course, we still make in-ceiling speakers that deliver the Atmos spec. I get that some people are skeptical and that's fair...but, as we always say here, just have a listen.
